Michael Verdugo, a Hollywood, FL police officer has been placed on administrative leave this past Wednesday.
Some of you might recognize this hunky piece of man meat!
Officer Verdugo, also known as Mikey V., was a recent contestant on HGTV's Design Star.
But that's not the reason for his forced leave.
Turns out the hottie cop is said to have appeared in a 1996 gay bondage film, called Rope Rituals.
The film was apparently made 5 years before he joined the police force back in 2001.
Hollywood Police have only said, ”Verdugo has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of a fact-finding Internal Affairs investigation."
As for Verdugo's attorney, Al Milian, he claims "My client has done nothing wrong. He has served the community of Hollywood with honor and distinction for over 10 years. The only reason someone would criticize my client is that he publicly has a different lifestyle."
Milian adds, "My client has done absolutely nothing wrong. Nothing unethical. Nothing to bring discredit upon his police department, except serve his community.”
The 34 year old Verdugo has not been accused of any crime as of yet, which he shouldn't be.
And if it does turn out that he was the same guy in the gay porn video, the faces are the same as well as identical tattoos, then so what?
That doesn't take away from his ability to function as a cop.
And interestingly enough, back in 2007 the Broward-Palm Beach New Times published a story describing Verdugo's problems within his police department after it was discovered he was gay following a disturbance involving him and his partner, another Hollywood cop.
Milian adds, ”When you're gay in America and involved in the military or law enforcement, it hasn't gone to a level playing field. That's coming from someone who served 18 years in the reserves.”

I've met Mike and he's such a great guy. He did nothing wrong. Do you know how many cops are actually doing corrupt things? Too many to count. Give the guy a break. And him being gay has NOTHING to do with it.

Porn is not illegal. Homosexuality is not illegal. Why is there an investigation going on?! This man is an officer of the law. His duty is to enforce the law and live by it. It's not their business to launch an investigation unless there are accusations of illegal activity. Does a police officer get placed on administrative leave for neglecting to mow his lawn or bringing his library books back late? Sure, gay porn is more "scandalous" than that but according to the law, these things are all the same; NOT ILLEGAL. And therefore, not the Police's business.
Unless there is more to this story than this article lets on, this guy might have grounds for his very own lawsuit once this is all over.
The P.T.A. are running things again. If his police service record is exemplary and speaks for itself, then his sexual orientation doesn't matter. How does it affect his job performance? It doesn't. He can be the department's specialized 'go to' guy in gay domestic and club disputes. They have Asian cops working China Town in my city for the same reasons. I hope he wins in court. Plus people grow up and shed the trappings of their youth, and want to make a difference in the community. I'm pretty sure a lot of the straight cops have had some off duty activities in their youth that would make a nun blush. This guy has strengths, and the department can pick his brain. This isn't right.

Ten years as a good cop is ten years as a good cop. Time for the high-school cop jocks to grow up and practice some intelligent thinking and tolerance.

Thirty years ago the morality clause would hold, but young people now have been living with blurred lines for a couple of decades, thanks to music videos and the deification of anybody famous. What has America been worshipping? To a person from another country, it would appear that the U.S. celebrates sexuality , film stars and money. These generations of kids have had these exact messages pounded into them by media, for crap's sake, and I can see how a young person could think that doing a soft porn vid to pay the rent and then later truly wanting to become a police officer is doing nothing wrong. People are right; these videos are not illegal, ergo what are the grounds for administrative leave?

My uncle is gay and a cop who was recently just given "administrative leave" because it was leaked that he was homosexual. Granted he wasn't in a porno before he joined, but it was still really shitty. He's a part of the FOP and they won him back his job.
