Who would ever have pictured the Fonz from Happy Days as a classical actor?

Well, while not busy appearing at your local car show, Henry Winkler will now be joining the British Milton Keynes Theatre as Captain Hook for this year's pantomime, Peter Pan.

The Fonz in pantomime Peter Pan!

Does that sound appealing to anyone other than Michael Jackson????

Winkler is one of the first American stars to ever be cast in a British pantomime by First Family Entertainment.

Milton Keynes Theatre's Chief Executive Officer, Elizabeth Adlington, said "We are extremely privileged that such an iconic international star will be enjoying the family pantomime tradition here in Milton Keynes, and I look forward to welcoming him to our theatre".

Winkler adds, "Being in panto equals joy, and playing Captain Hook gives me joy. How great to share this fantastic adventure with the audience in Milton Keynes."

The show will premier this December 5th through January 18th.

If we're in England during the holidays, we might just have to drop on by.

NOT!

Henry Winkler did this same panto last Xmas (Dec 2007) in Woking, Surrey, UK. This is old old old news. Really, a 7 month lag on good gossip is shocking. Not what I'm looking for in a celebrity website.

We live nearby and had him to our house for Xmas dinner. Didn't want him spending the day alone. Great guy.

What an impressive and lucky guy. He is able to do what makes him happy. First because he has the dough, second because he has enough confidence. Impressive in this sick society where everyone plays the game by the rules just because they want to "belong". Emotionally, most people never graduate from high school. Good for you, Fonz!

FYI, Henry Winkler is a classically trained Shakespearean actor. The Fonz was an out of character part for him to play. He has every right to be in "Peter Pan"!!

He was in a pantomime in the UK either last Christmas or the one before that. Hardly breaking news

    Dear Perez,

I love you site and insight, but I was dismayed to read your comments on the Fonz and Pantomime. For us Brits, Pantomime is essential at Christmas and is a silly, fun packed theatrical experience that we hold very very dear. In fact I would say that for the majority people of the UK a Pantomime was probably their first trip to a theatre - and a magical time it was too. My first Pantomime was to see Cinderella with Dame Anna Neagle and that memory has lived with me some 29 yrs later and am I grateful for those memories. Please please please check you info before commenting as you have caused offence to many of your British Fans. Imagine a 4th July with no Fireworks or Thanksgiving without the Turkey, it's the same for us - No Panto Not Christmas.

    I'm still a fan x

NOO! Give him some props for Arrested Development. His character was awesome. Not Z-list if he was on AD!

He played Hook in Peter Pan last year at my local theatre in Woking Surrey!

  14. livs says – reply to this

    114

not such a big deal tbh - I saw him the year before last playing the same role only at wimbledon theatre.

  15. 115

Henry Winker has been doing this role for the past 2 years. I haven't been to the show - not my cup of tea - but I hear it's very popular. He was doing press for this in 2006 on a few radio stations here in London. Why is this news now?

IF HE IS Z LIST, WHAT ARE YOU? AT LEAST HE IS A SUCCESSFUL ACTOR, YOUR A FAILED ACTOR. YOUR ONLY GIG WAS AS A FAT MAN TRYING TO LOSE WEIGHT AND THROWING A GAY MANS HISSY FIT.

  17. Pffft says – reply to this

    117

Perez is being a snot-nosed kid without a clue here. He'll find aging particularly hard if a few bulbs don't come on in the meantime. Henry Winkler does everything he does with grace and class, and makes a great Hook here, IMHO.

  18. GAY says – reply to this

    118

Jesus, dinner pusher, you aren't going to stop until you skull fuck Henry while his kids are watching. By all accounts, the man is a terrific guy and I have never heard a bad word about him. He has a mortgage and maybe gets bored sitting at home. You have that in common with him: He doesn't want to sit around the house and you can't sit around the house because a "bear" tore up your asshole.

  19. Smack says – reply to this

    119

Hey, Perez - just because pantomime doesn't 'matter' to you doesn't mean it doesn't matter, or that it isn't liked a lot by many others. Word; The world and its appreciation doesn't just revolve around your interests. Lol. You are being provincial.

    120

I wonder if he can still unsnap bras with that Hook Lickety Split?

    121

Actually, Henry Winkler was originally trained as a classical actor. He used to perform in Shakespeare plays quite a bit.

As you can see many of us who have done theater has nothing wrong to say about this post. But thanks for it. I as many others have known for quite sometime that " The fonz" is a great shakesperean actor as well…

  24. 124

    at least he's getting paid.
    that counts for something…right?

Henry Winkler played Captain Hook in the Peter Pan pantomine last year too! He played in our small town outside of London. He and the rest of the case were hilarious! Don't knock it ’till you've seen it and Perez - since Henry did this last year too, you're a little late on your gossip!!

I saw Winkler in the above panto in a town outside of London last christmas, called Woking. So its not his first….He was actually pretty good. Panto is a british tradition at christmas and many british celebrities star in them. He apparently is in england quite a bit of the year.

God Mario — You just keep proving to us how seriously stupid you really are and you just keep getting worse. You did know that Henry Winkler is a graduate of the Yale School of Drama, right? And you graduated from where? You've acted seriously in What?

    You are such a bug.

  32. lef says – reply to this

    132

Actually Henry Winkler has been directing and producing many tv shows and movies….so I wouldn't be bashing him unless you know what he's been up to

    133

i saw him perform as captain hook when he performed at the peter pan panto in Wimbledon 2006… he was actually really good. Pantos are really popular over here and he was amazing. He got a standing ovation after every performance… and the kids loved it!!!

    134

I used to work in "the biz" and dealt with Mr. Winkler a lot, he is the most down to earth, sweet man ever!! No one in Hollywood has anything bad to say about him. I don't think he needs the money he has been a very successful producer, maybe it's just a passion or a chance to do something new….leave the guy alone, although I sure he couldn't give a sh*t about what you have to say

  35. Kathe says – reply to this

I saw him do Peter Pan in Woking (UK) last year.
He was okish i guesse but he kinda milked the Happy Days theme tune throughout.

I live in Syracuse, NY where Henry Winkler was at the Syracuse Nationals this weekend and the line to get his autograph/picture was incredibly long and people waited in line for hours. I'm sure that people wouldn't wait in line for hours just for your autograph you pathetic wanna-be celebrity

See Peeps, the reaons why everyone…and I mean EVERYONE hates Perez is because he is a prick. This type of "story" is what he's all about…being a nasty, cruel bitch. Everyone loves a guy like Henry Winkler and that must eat Perez up. As for these "stories" he posts…get a clue Peeps, the only exclusive Perez gets is when the local Olive Garden calls him to tell him what's going to be on the specials menu that night. Perez is a jackass.

  41. LHK says – reply to this

    141

That's seriously one of the creepiest pictures I have ever seen. He could defiantly do better than Peter Pan.

Also, to Laura. I can't speak for Perez, but I think his turn to "celebrity blogging" was a genius idea. The chances of becoming a famous actor is very very slim. The chances of becoming big on the internet, not so slim. He gets fame, by the look of his ads, fortune, and he gets to criticize and mock rather than get criticized and mocked.
