It's quite obvious that you are a horrible film critic. Stick to your day job and just write gossip. Your personal opinions are so lame though (for the most part). This movie was fucking fantastic. The Joker and how he was portrayed was amazing. Those that ever questioned Heath's acting skills can sit down because he wowed everyone and will continue to wow people during this movie.
The only thing I can agree with is that it should have been more graphic, but the movie is PG 13 for a reason. When the DVD comes out, I hope it has an unrated blue ray edition. I will pre order that shit like I did these tickets well over a month in advance!

i feel the same way! i was so exited with this movie! i think that was the problem! i expected way to much from it.
i liked heath ledgers performance i did think it was incredible but for my opinion it does not deserve all the oscar buss its been getting. if he does get a nomination it'll be more out of marketing purposes so more people will see the oscars but i honestly don't think it was that great. it was good, very very good but not great.. i get the feeling people say that just cause he is dead (i know, im sorry that was mean).
Other than that i am ok with the movie, it was to dark for my taste, instead of feeling like superheroes where amazing i came out with this bitter aftertaste, though i loved the whole harvey dent and rachel thing cause in the end JA! the superheroe didn't get the girl, she was gonna choose the other guy, THAT I DID LOVE!, but alas the poor harvey got the short end of the stick.
the visual effects were amaizing and i overall i did like the movie, i guess i was just expecting way to much from it.

you know i have to say i pretty much agree with your review spot on, save for maggie sucking so hard. i think the character just sucked that hard…she was really just a multi pronged plot device.

Are you serious? Clearly you have no idea of the background of the Batman story. If you did then you wouldn't be bashing it. It was a fantastic movie and Heath Ledger played the best Joker the Batman franchise has ever seen. Try and understand the material you're bashing, if you don't, then it just makes you look like an idiot.
Maybe Perez, just maybe, if you see the film again with an attitude other than expecting the Hollywood wow factor, you might actually see a tremendous film. And you don't have to tell anyone that you actually figured the whole thing out. Why you can even keep to yourself whose asshole you like and whose you don't.

I DISAGREE P! Harvey Dent's arch/growth was amazing, Bruce Wayne's growth = amazing, & the Joker isn't supposed to grow (he's nuts). I never thought the film was too long, and I was in awe of the action sequences (some totally original ideas in there). Heath did an incredible job - did you notice how he sucked on his cheeks or licked his scares every now and then? I felt the pain man. wow.
Perez, you're crazy. I thought the movie was brillant. I get what you mean there was no depth to the characters, but I don't think the Joker was supposed to be extremley characterized. He created chaos just for the sake of creating chaos, there was no hidden agenda.

wow perez. you wouldn't know a great movie. i think the movie was incredible, it definitely lived up to all of the hype and surpassed it, i think. heath ledger was beyond amazing, i have never seen a person portray a character where you forget who the real actor actually is. the first time i saw heath on the screen my heart dropped. the movie was 2 1/2 hours long, but i definitely didn't feel that it was too long. all in all, i think everyone should watch it for themselves. for anything, heath's performance is oscar-winning.

ok first of all, growth of character??? the dark knight isnt a musical, its an action movie.
if u were a true fan and actually knew what you were talking about u would know that the dark knight was sooo closely related to the comic and its so rare to find the dedication to history and character that this film portrayed.
also, historically, batman isnt R rated or graphic. he doesnt kill people, theyre keeping it real to its roots and thats AMAZING!!

I pretty much agree with you! I liked the movie i didnt love it but thats what i expected. I though Heath did and AMAZING job at being really bizzare. He was super creepy but i expected him to be even creepier! Christan bale is jut super hottt and I agree it was more about harvy dent!I LOVE HEATH AND WILL MISS HIM ON THE BIG SCREEN! I cried when i saw his name in the credits. It was a good movie all in all it left me speechless not really cuz it was amazing i drove home in silence just trying to thing about the whole thing.

Hi Perez and friends! I'm ssending this post from Argentina. I have seen The Dark Night and I have to say that I don't share your opinion. I think it was, by far, the best Batman ever. You have to remember that Batman is a dark, twisted character. And the film really represents that (it's actually very similar to the comic).
I though that the critics about Heath's performance it were all because hes sudden death. But now. He's a great "Joker" (even better than Nicholson, in the 90's, and that's much to say!).

I saw The Dark Knight last night and I was pleased, I also was not wowed but I did like it. I think it was a very dark, as far as the killings which was a little surprising. What I did love is that the main actors completely disappeared into their characters. It did remind me alot of the cartoon version. If I didnt know that was Heath Ledger as the joker I wouldnt have believed it. Also Christian Bale is the only Bruce Wayne that u cant tell is the same person when he is Batman. He completely becomes someone else when he puts on that mask, right down to the way he talks and holds his lips. I cant wait for the next one. I firmly believe they will keep getting better with each villian.

I need to say two things that I COMPLETELY disagree with.
1: The movie was AMAZING. I was expecting to love it and I did.
2: The point of the Joker's character is that there isn't supposed to be any "inner turmoil". That character is fucking nuts. He kills to KILL, because he enjoys it. He doesn't feel guilty for it. He doesn't feel frightened. If the Joker had inner turmoil, that would make him humane. That's that fear fact of his character, he really IS a monster.
I don't really remember anything else you said, but that's what I have to say.
OH! And, Batman isn't a SUPERHERO. He doesn't have any special, superhuman powers except intelligence, money, and physical strength. He isn't a hero at all. Actually, it was repeated throughout the entire movie so…

If you want action and magic go see Spider-Man 3. There is tons of character development and lots of story. Except there isn't any structure and the movie falls apart very quickly ruining the entire trilogy.

I think you're wrong…the MOVIE WAS GREAT!!!! Heath did a fantastic job he stole every scene he was in. He simply owned that character way different than Jacks. Over all the movie KICKED ASS!!!!!
As far as it being TOO DARK, well, it's not a happy comic book and to lump it in with all the other "action hero" comic characters isn't fair. It was never supposed to be like the Adam West TV show or funny/happy stuff. This sticks to the mood of the graphic novels. I thought it was amazing. And even more so in IMAX. But I liked your commentary. Fair enough.

No no no. You have this film all wrong, perez!!!! you went in thinking that the movie was going to be like transformers….. But it definitely was not the approach they wanted. Batman is entirely different than all other superheroes to begin with. He chooses to be a superhero. So the directors and writers approach to a very dark film is altogether brilliant. The joker was a psychopath who did not specifically have a purpose to his evil-doing other than proving that people are selfish and materialistic…. It's one of those movies that you have to stop and think about before passing judgment.

Now, all I have to say is that I respectfully disagree with you, somewhat. Also, WTF?! HEATH LEDGER WAS AMAZING IN THIS MOVIE, but that's ok, we all have our own opinions. Throughout the whole movie, for me atleast, I forgot it was the loveable Heath with the australian accent, and was taken on a ride with a pychopathic maniac with a sick sense of humor that made me giggle with every killing. Wow, that's strange. I guess I understand where you're coming from about the movie being too "dark." For me, it was perfect. I guess that's because I love dark and gruesome movies. You were right, the characters were underwritten and a bank robbery and shootings and you're introduced to the story, it keeps you glued to the screen and not yawning because all this nonsensical information is thrown your way. Some parts, yes were not that thrilling, but I could go back to many scenes where I was screaming "OHHHH SHIT!" or "DAYYUUUMMM!" Haha, I guess the people involved in the movie were trying to target all of the longtime Batman fans who know the backgrounds and such. You most likely will not read this, but that's ok. I just wanted to tell you that I disagree with you on most things you talked about (maybe it's because I love Heath Ledger and I love the darkness and sick humor used in the movie.)

This is the last day I will ever read Perez. I needed a real reason to think he was an idiot besides liking Selena Gomez more than Miley Cyrus. But now..I know for a fact he just got lucky enough to have a successful website that has become boring and now, my reason of never reading his shit again is because he's a lunatic if he just "liked" The Dark Knight. I'm not into the superhero franchises, but i'll like them occasionally. Batman= tool. what was with the voice?
Bruce Wayne= too god-complexy… i think that covers his character
the girl= very squeeky, reminded me of a mouse in all ways
the joker= variable that made the movie a + rather than a 0 or -
harvey dent= im pissed that we never saw what happened after that giant car chase bat cycle scene… wtf? like who rigged all those barrels if the joker was in lockup? st00pid transition there.
the final battle/SONAR= hostages! doctors! nurses! bad guys! guns! batmans! swat! buildings! sonar! capes! bat ninja stars! confusion! st00pid!
the boats= cool premise, an interesting movie would be one of those two boats' side story thing.
So that is that. The experience was really fun, though!

i love the movie personally but i do agree with lack of depth. although the joker was amazing, they shouldve focussed on Batman. Christian Bale was super hott but i thought he was a complete TOOL in the movie. especially with that weird voice he did when he was batman, EW. I saw it last night in Sydney and thought Heath was FANTASTIC. Movie was good too, i didn't want it to end despite it being 2.5 hours long. Heath was mesmerising. I have said this for months:
1. The movie will smash records and

i thought the movie was great (because of Heath), he was so ruthless and a mad dog chasing a car chase. He was a different kind villain that was refreshing. I didn't feel that Two Faced was so charismatic. This movie totally had me suspenseful.

Dude, horrible review. First of all how many times are you going to contradict yourself in your video blog? It was a superhero movie and you are expecting inner character growth? Im ean come on you should know better. THe whole point of the Joker character was that there is no growth and his criminal mind lacks both development and purpose and that was pulled off to a T. Granted Harvey's development was rapid it did develop throughout the movie. But come on. the movie was a bit long but the graphics and the action sequences were amazing. Nolan continues to develop Batman's character and has been an excellent continuation from Batman Begins so you have no clue what you are talking about. Heath was amazing. Just because he isn't all pretty boy and you don't want to ram him in this movie does not mean you have to take away from his performance. His acting, mannerisms, and facial expressions were second to none and he effectively stole Jack's role as the Joker.

I 100% agree! I saw it a day before America did (me being in Australia) and I thought it could have been better, sure. I also didn't like the fact that you know, its a BATMAN film yet it seems to evolve around heath ledgers character. - which I think was more interesting but it kind of didn't work in this film.

I loved the movie. I think Christian Bale is awesome in the movie. He plays both play boy Bruce and heroic Batman perfectly. I do agree with you about Maggie G. Bad casting choice. There was no va va voom! How are we supposed to believe these men are lusting for her….She evokes NO sex appeal.
I just came home from seeing The Dark Knight. I thought it was an amazing film! Heath's performance was so inspiring. I wish he was still alive. Seeing him on screen made me sad. God Bless his family and friends.
