probaly the best movie ive ever seen in my life The JOKER was awsome Movie WAS BAD ASS
whatever perez, the film was amzing, i think you just don't know gurl, you just don't. music yes! movies not so much. he made it more like crime drama, which was brilliant, thank god there was good direction, all the other superhero films sucked this summer, nothing compares. it was epic! a masterpiece.
perez-
you are out of your mind
that movie was beyond exceptional
it exceeded any and all of my expectations….2 hrs and 30 mins was not nearly enough
sometimes i think people have an opinion just to have one, cough cough
Best movie of the year hands down. I was blown a way by the joker. How did you not LOVE this movie?
You're on crack, this movie was amazing. Best part was that it wasn't as predictable as I had expected.
Im is it just me or does perez sound like a complete douche bag!!!
I think are coo-coo perez, it was fucking amazing.
Oh go watch Mamma Mia you idiot. Heath Ledger MADE that film. It was brilliant.
I thought the character development of Two Face/Harvey Dent was awesome. Plus, Heath did a great job as the joker. The pencil joke was awesome.
Anyone else think that Christian Bale looked like Eugene Tackleberry from the Police Academy films when he was Batman?
Perez, why don't you stick to reviewing your kind of movies, like Mama Mia for example. You completely missed the greatness of this film because, well, it seems like you 'wanted' to. Your review is nothing but nitpicking the film, rather than talking about the great film Nolan and his boys have created. Ledger wasn't "great 'with the material he was given,'" he captured the essence of the Joker completely, as well as the Jokers relationship with Batman. But, you wouldn't know this because you don't know shit about the Batman world, as you acted like you did all these months with your little blogs about the then upcoming TDK. And by posting all those blogs and 'keeping with the scoop,' you should have known months ago that Dent was the primary character arc, as Nolan stated many many times. Batman's arc was in the first film and he continued to struggle with it this time around as well.
And for the record, Gyllenhaal was 10x better than Katie Holmes from Begins, and 1000x better than fucking Nicole Kidman that you mentioned. What a joke.
I feel like you just went in really wanting to hate it, wanting to have that different opinion. It was a fucking badass movie, and I don't know anyone but yourself whose mind wasn't blown out of their head. I love ya Perez, but I just feel like you want to have your own different perspective so you went in with a preset opinion and saw what you wanted to see. The movie was awesome. What are you talking about with the lack of inner turmoil for the characters?!?! That was completely off base! I won't go into detail, but I completely disagree, I felt that every character had many layers and were turmoiled. The only thing I felt you were totally right about was Maggie Gyllenhall. Why was she put into this all-star cast? She SUCKED. Aaron Eckhart, who was awesome, couldn't even save her.
But seriously, the movie was amazing. You're crazy!
I won't see the movie because I'm more of a "chick flick" kind of girl but I LOVE hearing your comments. I ADORE you and hope one day before I leave this earth that I get to see you in person. BTW - you are totally rockin the pirate fingernails! LOL
I totally agree with what Heath said. I thought the movie was amazing! Heath was Brilliant, and Aaron Eckert fit the character of Harvey Dent wonderfully. As far as Christian Bale, he owns Batman so that's a no brainer (some people may fight me on this saying Michael Keaton wins, but I have to disagree, although he may fit the batman role Christian is excellent as BOTH Batman and Bruce Wayne.) I really could go on and on with a page long review but I'll spare you a novel lol. I guess the fact that I've seen it three times since Thursday though and will be going to see it in Imax tomorrow expresses my opinion enough.
Okay so first your are so friken worng!! The movie was phenomenal. Heath Ledger was amazing and anyone who says otherwise obviously didnt watch the same movie i did. I liked the movie so much i will actually be going to see it again next weekend. HELLO OSCAR NOMINATIONS FOR HEATH LEDGER!! PEREZ IS WRONG THE MOVIE WAS PHENOMONAL!!!!
god you haters on here!
perez is entitled to his own fucking opinon like all of you!
so he didn't think this movie was epic, suck it up!
it's his website and you chose to listen to his opinion in the first place!
i haven't seen batman yet cause all the imax showings are sold out till monday =(
but if i had, i wouldn't be bitching because ONE GUY didn't think heath deserves an oscar. i think this movie has become so much hype people are taking time to objectively critic it anymore…
My friends and I all agree that Maggie was a horrible casting choice. She seemed bland and just didn't fit the role. We all think Gennifer Goodwin (Mona Lisa's Smile and Big Love) would have been a much better casting choice.
But other than that we enjoyed the movie a lot.
Heath was incredible.
Only way it would have WOW factor for Perez is if he was in a tent raping on brokeback mountain
Re: Sammy – wtf would u think he is hot… ur so wrong.
HELLO!……no comments about the new Harry Potter movie!…..
100% agree with Maggie and that it was too long.
I thought it was great. I loved it through and through. I thought that the hype of Heath would really be over the top with all this pre-Oscar buzz but he was amazing, funny, scary and fantastic.
Perez you're looking a little too much like Spencer Pratt in this video. Watch yourself!
the best i've ever seen in 5 years. heath ledger's performance was oscar-worthy. the story is flawless. the action/effects are very realistic..not cartoony like hulk and spiderman. 5 star baby.
You know . . . "THE DARK KNIGHT" could have been superb. It really could have. But I think that Christopher Nolan and his co-writer screwed up the story in the end and it became unecessarily longer than it should have been. I'm not just talking about the running time, but the story itself.
i adoreddddddddddddd it.
perez i'm not sure what movie you were watching because the dark knight was phenomenal and heath ledger's performance was absolutely outstanding
Heath Ledger for me made the movie. He was AMAZING!!! Christian Bale disappointed me at times but everybody go see it!
Over-hyped. Movie was too dark, not enough suspense, or interesting character development. Tired of watching summer blockbusters with nothing but special effects, weak story lines, and continuous disorienting quick action cuts that prohibit me from placing myself in the setting properly, thus keeping me disinterested. Kudos to Heath Ledger and his fantastic, excellent portrayal of the Joker.
The movie sucked!! Now, you have to give us your diet secret..looking good…just please don't become anorexic.
Re: eliza – agree cool flick. not for prissy Homo's. it's more for comic fanboy types. being neither i loved it, but felt Batman deserved more screen time.
Wow. I'm not sure if you created this video as a way to create buzz and controversy? If yes, then well done for getting the most replies to post that I've ever seen your website. If no, well then there are no words to describe how terrible, ignorant and uninformed your review is.
I was starting to wonder why I kept visiting your site everyday. I told myself it was because you showed "the truth" about celebrities. But then I realized that your content is just garbage…even worse than the glossed-over artifical celebrity magazines. You write mean, ignorant, uninformed things that these celebrities (as people too) don't deserve.
I'm sorry to say that watching this video was a big milestone for me, in that this is the last time I will ever visit your site again. I wouldn't be surprised if others felt the same after watching the video. Not just because they disagreed with your review, but because it really shows just how boring and pointless it is to come to your site, and how little value you contribute to society.
You are sort of like the Howard Stern "shock rock" of the Internet, and unfortunately, I have a feeling that your reign will soon be over.
we were definately not watching the same movie. It was great and Heath Ledgers performance was completely memorizing. I love it and would pay full price to see it again.
hey perez
okay i love you first off.
now i say the film in imax just like you except during the midnight showing. i think you simply need to see it in regular theaters only because the imax for me at least was a little too much. but i'm sorry but i think the movie was the best fucking superhero movie of all time, it was amazing. now i'm an actor and ive studied many acting methods and such and heath who obviously using method acting for his role of the joker and he deserves an appload. he was fucking brilliant, amazing, and defiently oscar quality. from his first to very last word he gave me a thrill. he was witty, scary, thrilling, realistic, everything. and i loved this movie!
i really hope it breaks the weekend box office, and its nominated for an oscar or at least heath is. because he deserves it. and this was an amazing way to end his career im just excited for his other film that hopefully will come out in 09 which will be his bow, his finale. BATMAN=AMAZING FUCKING FILM
I actually liked the film BECAUSE it wasn't like every other superhero movie. It wasn't all about SHOCK & AWE! It brought Batman down to the realistic level. There was nothing SUPERHUMAN about him. It brought a real life sense to the superhero theme which made the faith of a better tomorrow in an impossible world so immediately relatable! Heath in my opinion was COMPLETELY lost in the career, I tried picturing him as the Joker and it couldn't pull HIM out of it - it was amazing! No the characters didn't grow but it's not about the characters growing, or action scense, or *BATMAN*…it sent out a message which is why it may have come or can come as a disappointment because it's nothing of which we are used to. I very much enjoyed it & have seen it twice already!
perez -_- you should stick to typing up blogs, your voice is gross. public speaking is something you should avoid…forever. the movie was good and it has been the best comic film so far and it was very much like the comics. your input on movies is useless. u just wanted to say something negative bc it's a movie that a lot of ppl generally like. you always want to be a fruity dark cloud over everything.
Uhm. Let's see, I definitely hated you before I saw this… but now I literally wish you were dead. And I don't even wish Osama Bin Laden was dead. You are the ugliest, gayest, most ignorant person I've ever witnessed.
Please, never watch another film again, why don't you go see "Meet the Spartans" for the third time and enjoy that… yeah.
umm…you don't know what you're talking about. PAY ATTENTION MAN!! this film was phenomenal!! Don't take this the wrong way lol
You should look into taking some flim classes to learn about technic and read up about Nolan because this is exactly what he does and he did it super well. I don't think the movie was too much about Harvey Dent, I think Heath Ledger definitely took over but each character had their moment to shine. You should also really look into Batman on wikipedia or something lol
i agree that the movie wasnt THAT great as a whole, and was really about the Harvey Dent chararcter but Heath Ledger was absolutely AMAZING and completely shone in the film, he really played the character of the joker and just blew me and everyone else in the audience away.
Perez, you are always so thorough and thoughtful. xo
YOU HAVE A HORSE"S FACE AND CAMEL TEETH.
HEATH LEDGER WAS BRILLIANT. YOU WILL NEVER BE ANYWHERE NEAR HIS GREATNESS. GO SUCK ON A JOHN MAYER.
i tottaly agree with what you said except i liked maggie. but overall it was great to me.
No inner turmoil?!?!
Honestly Perez. The movie was absolutely bound with turmoil of characters. You could feel Batman's tension.
But you're adorable
There was no dull moment the entire film. Aaron Eckhart's two face transformation was shit, but other than that, it is hands down the best film of the year. If Ledger doesn't win best supporting actor, then there should be no Oscar's. The last time I can recall acting that superb was Charlize Theron in Monster. There was plenty of action, at least twice as much than Batman Begins and very creative as well. Maggie Gylenhall put Katie Holmes to shame and cannot even be compared to Nicole Kidman. Really Perez? Really? Understand that Christopher Nolan's work in no way should be compared to the horse shit that was the former Batman franchise. TY LIFE
Thank you for not squealing like a little bitch this time, but if you can't pronounce 3 or 4 syllable words, please leave them out of your critique. You're better suited to reviewing the next Gumby & Pokey movie anyway.
Re: lizzi – you sure do.
i agree with totally what you say. all the bad stuff should go to the writer.but i definately loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee heath ledger's part especially and the nurse part where he dressed as a nurse, hilarious! He shouldn't have left… and for the long part i think its great except mayb i gotta go to the loo so i'm like 'is it ending?' haha
You've pretty much just proven how much of a dumbass you really are. Screw that entitled to your opinion shit, I mean seriously, it wasn't amazing? It didn't have character development? Did you not see how Batman, Harvey dent evolved? Shit, dent WAS character development in this movie.
You went into this movie expecting some sparkly lights and stupid sing and dance numbers. This is THE definitive movie for batman. Heath Ledger was absolutely amazing and anyone who says anything less, really ought to do their research of the Joker character, and hell, smack their head into a wall. Because honestly, he was beyond Joker. He made his own character and it was superb.
I never trusted your opinion all the way, but now you've thrown it right down the gutter.
agree about maggie gyllenhaal (wtf are we not supposed to notice its not katie holmes?)!! and how batman is like, hardly in the movie. saw it in imax too, except it was so packed i had to sit in the front and it kind of hurt. also kind of ruined the movie a bit.
i see what you say about Heath. but i felt he did develop his character with what he was given, though. i felt he was AMAZING. best fucking part of the movie.
agree, i enjoyed it, but it wasn't like "wow!"
I don't know what the hell perez is talking about?! he must have not seen the film apparently
sorry you saying that the film is not fun is a complete understatement on your part. I do agree that you are way off base, and you must not be a true batman fan or read any of the comic books either growing up.
The movie was amazing and you have no appreciation for the film
total agreement perez - sure, it was good, right? But yeah 9 hours too long, about 75 plots too many, and way too many characters that you knew nothing about so it made their story lines hard to follow. glad I saw it, mildly entertaining, but could have been soooo much different and better. and maggie gyllenhall did suck in it. totally true
I am looking at the photos of you on the right of this box, and you just look like a complete moron, no wonder this movie and a lot of other things went completely over your head.
Im so glad you took the Perez Hilton name, because just like Paris, you're "famous" for being a complete idiot. The difference is she has money and looks to fall back on, you Perez will die alone, broke, and bitter.
The Dark Knight was not the be all and end all of films, it wasnt THAT great, but it was a lot better than you make it out to be. I am not here defending this movie, I am not even a huge fan, I just think you are a moron, and you're hating on it not because you genuinely didnt enjoy it but because you knew the attention it would get you and you will do anything for attention.
You are a whore.
i have not seen it yet but it seems to be like you didn't say anything good! i feel like since the movie is getting all this buzz due to heath ledger and all you were determined to be negative. Uncool Perez.
p.s
you are looking good!
Perez… 101% RIGHT ON…everything you said in your VLOG was correctomundo. The only thing I'll add is ….How fucking cheesy was
Bale's voice when speaking as the Batman??????
the movie was awsome…
its was complete badass to the max
the dark knight has got to be one of the best movies made in the past 10 years. i don't see how you could say this film didn't have that wow factor. maybe you saw the wrong film, because when i saw it in theaters everyone was on the edge of their seat.
heath ledger was incredible. he took the role of the joker and fucking made the movie. he was such a talented actor, there wasn't a single part of the film that i could actually recognize him. he was so into his role that it was frightening at times. that's the mark of a talented actor, and it's a shame you can't appreciate that.
you're a complete moron for posting this review. you're just making everyone realize how ignorant you are. i think you went in there wanting to hate it, wanting to see some cheesy plot line like spiderman or whatever, and that's not what this film is. it's sophisticated. it's dark, and it's fucking incredible.
First time I agree with EVERYTHING Perez says! wow
you are seriously out of touch with the whole premise of Batman obviously you are not familiar with the comic books. I loved the movie it was amazing way better than I expected i loved heath ledger performance. Stick to Mamma Mia, those are obviously your kind of movies!!!
tsk tsk Perez! I don't know if you slept through parts of the movie or if maybe you didn't see the same movie as the rest of America, because this was likely the best film ever made. For sure the best comic-book film ever made. The way they tapped into the fact that the joker was never looking to kill the batman and bringing two-face into it. Complete brilliance. Heath Ledger, may he rest in peace, wasn't great…he was amazing and it would still be true if we were fortunate enough to still have him with us. I can't believe you wanted it to be fun. Go see Mamma Mia if you want fun. You complained that the movie was too long, yet you wanted more character development and to see more inner turmoil. Most of America knows these characters like the back of their hand and we don't need more character development or for there to be more inner turmoil. Especially not with the joker. As for Maggie, I thought she was a much needed upgrade from Katie Holmes and I think she did a great job. The casting and the acting was perfect. The suspense, drama and graphics were spot on. I think you maybe decided that you weren't going to love it and that was that. That was a very disappointing review.
Perez,
I love your blog…even though sometimes I have to shield my eyes to a few naughty things you do..lol anywho I loved the movie and I normally don't like action/super hero movies…but I loved this one…the only thing I wish they would have done was to develop how the Joker became the way he was yano? like why was he so dimented ect, but because Heath is gone now we'll never be able to experience another Joker like that again. He was amazing…I can definitely see how getting into character would have tormented him…just watching him I squirmed…
It was Dark AND really deep. Comics are not "fun." If you read comics you know that they are more Sad and Tragic in an action sort of way. Perez probably had more exposure to the TV Batman. That was camp & Fun. Read "the Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller to get a hit of Comics at their best. The Joker in the Movie is more of an elemental force of nature… or of the city if you will. His character does not develop in the way that most good ones do in movies I agree, but it develops in a better and more original way, I think. As the Film progresses we find that he is not a criminal in the usual sense. What motivates him is so bizarre and original that even Batman misses it. He is so scary because nobody has anything he wants, he can’t be bargained with. The sick boy just wants to have fun… but it’s done very realistically for a movie. Dent was the pivotal character, you hit that right. And he definitely had evolution to his character! Batman/Wayne are also like a force of nature. It was like the ocean waves VS the Hurricane with Dent (aka hope for Gotham) as the prize. If you saw the movie you know who won. I loved the flick, saw it at the Arclight Dome and the original batcycle from the movie was parked in the patio. (to cool.) And Come on! Action? How about the scenes in Hong Kong? James Bond eat your heart out! I agree Maggie Gyllenhaal did suck in the role. No fault of hers really she just was not enough for it.
PS My Girlfriend loves your site Perez
I'm sorry, Perez, but I have to disagree with most of what you were saying. First off, Heath Ledger was simply amazing- words cannot describe. He played the part perfectly and definitely made the movie. I do agree that Maggie Gyllenhall wasn't that good; However, I didn't like the portrayel character Harvey Dent that much. Also, I thought the movie went smoothly and went by fast! Overall, it deserves Best Picture.
hey perez u are looking great! me and my mom check ur website everyday and ur doing great with ur physical. dont give up and keep on looking hot as ever. love from toronto!!!
i love you perez ,but you are CRAZY. that movie was AMAZING, one of the best superhero movies EVER!!! Heath Ledger made the movie that much better. The Joker was a character that's life was intentionally not supposed to be revailed so everyone knows that he is that much "darker" than any other villian ever. He is supposed to be the one villian who really just doesn't give a damn about some things (as shown in a few scenes).
And personally in my own perspective i believe that Maggie took the character that was played by Katie Holmes before and improved it. She is just a better actress in this movie than Katie would have ever been.
And both Batman and Dent were both played brillently as was the Joker.
Heath in my eyes for sure deserves and oscar, no doubt about it.
Heath is amazing and he went way to young as did so many other great ones like him that were just seeing what their careers and lives had in store for them.
Love you Heath, hope you are looking down on all of us and guiding us through life.
The movie was good! Scary, in fact. I was one of the people who sat with my hand over my mouth during the Joker/torture scenes….this movie was definitely not for the kiddies! I wanted to see more of the Joker development - Two Face was too disgusting to look at. I'm sure Heath Ledger's untimely death made me more intrigued with the Joker…but I really wanted more of him. The concept that a "bad guy" would burn millions of dollars on purpose to prove that he is not motivated by money was a refreshingly eerie concept; it made me want to listen to what he had to say. (But how much character development can you get in a single movie, Perez??) Did anyone else comment on the analogy between the cell phone monitoring scenes and the Bush administration's directive to monitor our e-mail and phones? DON'T NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS was the underlying message from this movie. THEY ARE INSANE AND THEY DON'T THINK LIKE US!
your so fucking stupid, the dark knight was the best movie EVER..and they did not need to develope the characters..thats what batman begins was for you moron….heath was just amazing i was amazed throuout the hole film.. i reall want thr 3rd to be made with ryan gosling as the riddler!!
SO YEAH GO SUCK A DICK PEREZ NOBODY CARES WHAT THE FUCK YOU THINK,,,, YOU SHOULD GO WATCH MAMA MIA THATS MORE OF YOUR KIND OF MOVIE FAG..
THANK YOU
THANKS FOR CONFIRMING TO US YOUR LACK OF TASTE!
I MEAN, EVEN THE ASSHOLE AT ROTTEN FUCKING TOMATOES GAVE IT A 94% PERCENT!!!!!!
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU ON, PEREZ????
YOUR THE TYPE THAT WOULD HAVE PROBABLY ENJOYED "MAMA MIA" BETTER!
the only word that should've been said during ur review is AMAZING!
I thought the entire movie was real good… but the tribute….(if you can even call it that) to Heath was pathetic…. I was suprised since there was so much hype about the "tribute to heath after the credits"….. It was not worth sitting there through the long credits to see, thanks to our friend Heath…. or whatever the two lines of words that flashed for one second said…..
Too dark? Are you kidding? Why do most of the people who didn't like it want a 'Spiderman' or 'Superman Returns' type of movie? Stop going in expecting for the hero to get the girl, kick the villains ass and that's it, movie over. The Dark Knight was amazing and I can't say enough good things about Ledger's performance. Absolutely wonderful.
U don't get the whole batman concept… stick to trashy and crazy celebs perez
Yo suck Perez! I agree that the movie was good not so wow all the time. However, Heath Ledger did make the film and was AMAZING!
You say he was not and then you say he was for the material given to him.
That = AMAZING stupid!
This shyt was the motha Freqking bomb
Like dead ass
Heath Ledger rocked the shyt outtah the Joker character->
Don't think anyone has ever seen it done that well
I agree with you Perez. That WOW factor was missing for me too. I didn't even get the story line, but I loved Heath's performance as the Joker. I wondered if he could top Jack Nicholson's performace and sure enough it was up there. I love Batman and this movie was not a BATMAN film but more of a JOKER film. I still enjoyed it overall and worth every penny.
maybe you should just stick with criticising how celebrities look and all that. fit as you may seem to appear, you are not so as a movie critic. love you, perez.
youre an idiot i loved the movie
There is only one real Joker and that's Jack. I know, I know, 2 different personas of a character and a whole new genre of Batman as well, but I gotta stick with my guys Michael Keaton and Jack Nickelson, the real Batman and Joker.
you have no idea what the fuck you are talking about. i hope you get aids
The weird mouth movement from Batman got on my nerves..almost like a lisp.
you look really good perez. Keep up the good work. The movie was freakin insane!
I completely disagree with you. One of the best movies I've seen so far. Stick to fluff, Perez. Ledger was brilliant & u completely missed the point of his character. He didn't have 'inner turmoil' cuz he was just plain evil & enjoyed it. Gyllenhaal was also good & I'm glad she replaced Katie Holmes cuz Holmes would not have been able to pull off what was needed for the role. It was the best Superhero movie since Spiderman 2. Perez, leave the movie reviews to the experts.
Mhm…
I know we're all entitled to our own opinions, but a lot of us seem to disagree with you, myself included.
Saying that The Joker had no depth makes me wonder if you were even watching the same movie as the rest of us!
The Joker has no origin. Nobody knows where he came from or who he is. That just adds to all the insanity this character possess. He really just wanted to watch the world burn.
Re: Tom –
SO disappointed in your review…
but you look great
Did we see the same movie? I can't agree with what you said in brief video review of TDK. If I do have a qualm with the movie it's that Harvey Dent was rushed into the duplicitous role as Harvey Two-Face–now you see him now you don't. To have introduced him and and then killed him off in the last hour of the movie was disturbing. I was hoping it would lead to maybe another movie or better ending for him. I had no problem with the length of the film. Every part was relevant with no dead time. Ledger was not in this movie if you get my drift. Ledger allowed himself to get lost in his role. Amazing Joker. He did Jack proud, and deserves a posthumous award of the highest order. I'm really having a hard time with folks downing the movie as ho-hum. Of course opinions are a right, but still…. Finally, but not all I can say, Hilton mentioned more superhero type stuff and too dark. The crux of the entire Batman franchise–at least since the first Batman movie–is that he is an anti-hero, dark tortured soul that's somewhat motivated by tamed revenge, that's redirected into a kind of alter-ego. Vigilante that's needed but must keep his distance. He is who the people need him to be. If Batman were just all pure superhero, then I'd watch Superman Returns, and I hated that movie.
Hey Perez,
I live in Australia so I saw it about 5 days ago and I loved it. The storyline wasn't that great but the acting was incredible!!
Re: Joker – i agree…i love you perez, but don't criticize something you don't understand….i had when people on here berate the film because it was either a) too dark b) too long c) didn't give joker's origins….if you knew anything about the ORIGINAL comics (not that shit in the early to mid 90s) you would know that a) it's SUPPOSED to be dark, not all colorful and ridiculous like that prince-inspired crap b) it was to include most of the story to lead into the next movie, which joker was still to be a part of until heath's death c) joker's origin was never ever discussed…..that's why in the movie, he always had a different story….NO ONE KNOWS…..would you have rathered the writers piss off a bunch of people and just piss over the original comics and WRITE IN some sob story of the beginning of the joker? seriously, people, if you don't understand something, DO NOT criticize it with stupidity!! at least do your research….same goes for voting…….APATHY KILLS!
forget about The Dark Knight…Perez you're looking hotter and hotter every day!!
Keep it up papi!!
The Joker is a trickster archetype (look up "Trickster" on Wikipedia and read the part about Jungian archetypes). We aren't supposed to understand his back story or see any character development–that would defeat his purpose. He tells similar stories about his scars but twists the story to fit the current situation, trying to manipulate others. He is also quite cynical and believes the worst about human nature, although he is ultimately proven wrong by the ship passengers. Harvey Dent seems like he might become a trickster (two-faced like Janus from Greek mythology), but he fails because his motivation is external rather than internal. So no, there isn't a lot of character development with the Joker, but Heath Ledger did a great job of portraying the elusive trickster archetype.
THAT WAS THE WORST REVIEW OF A MOVIE I EVER HEARD! Dark Knight was the best Super Hero Movie ever made… I am talking ALL TIME. Nothing even comes close to it. Whoever was filming your review should have smashed that camera on your head!
Perez, I think you pseudo-review sucks. I really hated the way you prattled on and on bout "character development," and I think you sounded more ignorant than learned.
I think it's best that you stick to gossip than critiquing movies. Leave it to the experts. You just look like a buffoon.
oh, wow.
perez.. please.. don't post any more reviews.
you're very unintelligent, i don't give a shit what tori says to kiss your ass.
I personally love love loved it!! i thought it was great and seeing it at midnight rocked.
perez, i love you and all…but now because of this i will seriously not trust your opinion of movies. i loved the movie, i feel it couldn't have been any better. the plot wasn't about harvey dent it was about getting the mob, getting the joker, and harvey being the white knight was able to do that and they had to protect him. maggie didn't suck by the way, i loved her in it, she gave rachel a little more character, a little more umph. heath made this movie, i don't understand how you can't see that, he created this tormented insane villan who is definitely going down as one of the best villans of all time. this movie couldn't get any better. i mean of course it was going to be dark it's called the dark knight! it's not your average superhero movie, and that's what they were going for. they were trying to make it more realistic. this isn't a superhero movie really. it's just a mob movie with a superhero as the main protagonist. i don't understand how you couldn't see that.
the script….not so great.
I went for Heath Ledger (my man may he RIP) and he did AMAZING with what was written for him. If you listened to the review, perez said that. I think that none of the character did develop, but Heath was probably the best CHARACTER in the movie. he got into it the best and really rocked what was presented to him.
overall…it was LONG but worth going to see fer sure
I am going to have to disagree with you on this one–I thought that the movie was increible–When you say there wasn't enough action sequeces I don't know what more you could possibly expect! From the first minute to the last minute, there was constant mayhem madness! NOT to mention the CGI was just incredible and breathtaking! I think Ledger nailed this role and couldnt imagine n e one else playing the joker–by far the best Joker. In all, I thought the film was incredible and would abolutly reccomend it!
