hehehe…ur soo cute!! love the nails!! but i didn't see batman yet..
i agree with a previous comment - in the top 10 or so- that said Heath's character was well played. You made a comment about him not having any growth and honestly, he wasn't supposedt o have any. His character was very, very realistic in the idea that we know psychopath killers exist from time to time and we do not understand their logic in the way they behave. Heath showed that almost to a T. To say his character wasn't amazing I'd say is an understatement and borderline rude. And I'm not one of those "omgogmg heath died omgg loveeeee him omg he was amazing" I'm coming from a "what this character successful in 1 fueling my emotions 2 making me b elieve him 3 being what he is acting out to be and he succeeded in all. I hated him, was creeped out by him and I believed he was a true killer. A sadistic person like that has no inner turmoil-sometimes- and lke the movie has always said …. we fear what we do not understand. (criminal behavior that shows no inner turmoil or past emotional disturbance to fuel it)
Perez,
I love your site, but your review was embarrassing. Get some sleep before you do these things. Heath's character wasn't meant to have an arc, that was the whole idea of his character. The Joker even makes reference to being like a 'dog chasing cars' in the film. It was a dark film because that was the entire point. It was brilliant and will very likely get a best picture nod come February. Again, get some rest before doing your reviews.
FISRT OF ALL - WORST REVIEW EVER.
Even if you didnt like this movie,
you didn't even REVIEW IT you just took it down in low stupid ways,
YOU SUCK
THE DARK KNIGHT RULES
HEATH FOR EVA
I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!!! Infact, I think Heath did such an amazing job … he breathed new life into that character … just so twisted but you couldn't turn away …. I think I am in love with that character now …. This movie was insanely good … So many different levels of emotions were felt as I was sitting on the edge of my seat watching this flick …. TWO THUMBS UP!!!
i felt some of your comments, perez. as in, felt it was a bit too long. but, i did feel like heath was amazing. and aaron eckhardt was very good. i am disappointed in your comments on maggie. (what's with the mean-spiritedness there by you? it is really ugly, man. not funny, or clever. just mean.) overall — i was very satisfied by the film. a spectacle to enjoy.
pft , I'm about done with the Bruce Wayne derelict brooding ass crap fests . He sure seems to like to smell his daymn scrawny ass farts or at least act like he does .
Personally, I loved it. And, come on, that pencil scene was absolutely brilliant. Absolutely. Brilliant.
You are an overly tall and overweight amazon……..and a slut. FUCK OFF AND DIE!!!! I'm not a bitch….I know her and SHE IS A BITCH!! HOOKER WITH NO SOUL IF YOU WILL.
I saw it thursday night.
it was fucking amazing.
heath blew my mind.
The movie wasn't fun? I suggest you go watch Batman Forever & Batman and Robin in that case because I don't think this was the Batman for you. What I want to know is what your favorite movies are? You said it's lacking that "wow" factor? I think the entire movie especially the Joker scenes were all "wow". What movie makes you go "wow" in that case? No character development? You really need to see it again. Bruce Wayne goes through a lot, Harvey Dent changes completely, The Joker may not have changed but I found it a character study rather than development. Maggie Gyllenhaal was 20x better than Katie Holmes in the last one. Really, you said awful unprofessional things about her. You shouldn't be allowed to review movies let alone see movies.
perez, i do like your site, but you need to realize that sometimes it's better to shut your fucking trap than comment on things you know nothing about. there are five or six action sequences that i can think of off the top of my head. and yes, there was a lot of talking in the film. but those scenes were included to stress CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. we see bruce wayne as he doubts batman and his mission and struggles with this turmoil throughout the entire film. harvey dent starts out as gotham's white knight, believing wholeheartedly in upholding order and law. but then his belief is crushed and we see how his character reacts to such a blow (aaron eckhart does a great job, but i would NEVER say that this was "his" movie. not in a million years); rachel's part is smaller, but we see her caught in a love triangle–bruce or harvey? rachel's character provides motivation/dimension for both harvey and bruce/batman. they both make decisions based on their love for her. and furthermore, maggie did not "suck pus from an ass," as you so eloquently put it (really, perez? fucking grow up!). she improved infinitely on the role katie holmes thankfully vacated. in the dark knight, rachel was more prickly and strong; she wasn't your typical damsel in distress.
and, in my opinion, the movie would not have been as phenomenal or as unforgettable had it been "lighter." what makes christopher nolan's batman franchise stand apart from all previous batman films (or any other comic book film adaptations, in that matter) is the fact that it is so much more mature.
and this is getting exceedingly verbose, so i am just going to briefly touch on your comment about the lack of a "wow" factor. the joker. heath ledger's performance. that is your fucking wow factor. the joker was SUPPOSED to be one-dimensional in this film; a vicious sociopath obsessed with anarchy determined to ruin all that we love. adding details about his past would just add unnecessary clutter to the film. ledger seriously BECAME the joker–he surpassed all of my expectations. he absolutely ruled the film. it is so heartbreaking to think that someone else may take over the role in upcoming installments.
i don't think the film is perfect, but it is the best movie i've seen this year. maybe it's just not suited to your tastes, perez (you really don't strike me as an action movie lover). it's OK to say you didn't love the film, but please. leave the critiques to people who know what they're saying.
THE DARK KNIGHT=HOT
PEREZ=SUPER HOT!
Spoken like a true bon vivant - cuz that's really what you are Perez. "Too dark"? Then go see Sex & the City. Oh and have U lost weight Perez??
so I haven't seen the movie, but Perez I'm wondering do you really need to see growth of all characters for a movie to be good? I know you have an acting background, but like the joker, how often do you really see a villan "grow" I think you often just see the hero win over evil.
Also, do you need to expect so much from a superhero movie? Comics themselves don't show growth necessarily over ever published magazine, it's sort of like the reader (or movie-watcher) is becoming a fly on the wall for a day, a sequence of days, to see what happens in Batman's world. I don't think that it should be expected to see so much. At least you go what you were expecting
how did the characters have no depth when we clearly saw two face transform into 2 face.
Could you tell what a DRUGGIE Heath Ledger is/was? He had six prescriptions at his bedside at his death, prescribed by crooked doctors, just like Elvis' doctors, and we're supposed to think cause they were PRESCRIBED, he wasn't a druggie? I'm so glad Heath is dead… hopefully others will learn from his bad ways. Bye bye, druggie.
I'm dying to see this, love heath. I do think he made this film, & the other he was filming at the time of his death (cant' think of the name sorry) is going to be just as big I think. Rest In Peace Heath…. I love ya
I totally disagree with you Perez. I saw the movie last night and thought it was fantastic. Heath Ledger was an amazing Joker. There was no need for him to "build his character" because he just IS. The Joker is just a crazy f-ed up person, and Heath portrayed him perfectly. I loved all the little mannerisms he did too, like the constant licking lips, and over emphasizing "p" and "t". And I actually enjoyed Maggie Gyllenal as Rachel, she did a much better job then Katie Holmes. Overall, it was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. I love Christian Bale as Batman, he does a phenomonal job playing The Dark Knight. And the whole focus on Harvey Dent just opened a doorway to have Two Face appear in the next movie.
Perez, what are you talking about? Every character was suffering from MAJOR inner turmoil! A lot of that backstory about Rachel and Bruce is explained more in depth in the first movie. You also get more backstory about where everyone is coming from, their motivations, the situation in the city…. what Batman has lost, and why he is driven to fight for the safety of the innocent. Now, in terms of the Joker, he is ALL inner turmoil…. he is constantly pushing his inner demons on the world. He doesnt believe in the good of mankind, because the people who he needed to trust the most in childhood abused the shit out of him. His scars have labeled him a freak. why would he be motivated to act with kindness and civility?
The third film will obviously be the redemption of Batmans name without the sacrifice of Harvey Dents legacy.
I always get the feeling that you just miss the point with most things, Perez. I love you, but you are kinda stupid…. its endearing, but frustrating.
Heath was AMAZING in this film!!!! He went out with a bang and will forever be remembered! I suggest anyone see this film, its really really good!!!!
okay ppl, if you haven't figured this out by now, p loves to play devil's advocat just to gauge how successful he is at turning public opinion. unfortunately for him, i think the tides are turning and i would guess that his 15 minutes will be up soon. i hope he saved/invested all the money he has made and that he can be happy with his time in the sun.
I think you're off base. It was awesome!!! I loved it. If you wanted wonder and magic, go see Harry Potter. I will agree with you on Maggie Gyllenhall. She was horrible for the role. I can't wait to see it again.
love your review perez…love your honesty…
1. Hated Batman's voice. He sounded like he was having an asthma attack everytime he was on the screen.
2. Heath Ledger was boss.
3. Harvey Dent story was lame and should have been either (1) left out of the movie completely or (2) made into a third movie which I probably wouldn't have seen.
Liked it, but Iron Man is better. Oscar nom for both Heath Ledger & Robert Downey, Jr.
I live in the Netherlands and this movie won't be out for a couple of weeks. I still don't know whether I'll go, but Perez thanks for the review
heath ledger was the most amazing joker. i practically watched just to see was he was going to do next. batman who?
If you want something "fun" you could always try Joel Schumacher's two installments of the Batman franchise.
:/
we LOST such a GREAT actor!!!!!
The movie was awesome, you were placed in totally anticipation from scene to scene until the END…..you couldn't take a breath cause you didn't want to miss any part of it….Heath did his job well and CHRISTIAN ofcourse……it's just sad this was his last performance, those who were HEATH fans before the tragedy are NOT surprised by this performance HE WAS A GOOD ACTOR PERIOD….BATMAN ROCKED!!!! I hope it breaks spiderman's record, cause I fell asleep in some of those scenes and really didnt see what the hype was all about in realtion to spiderman…..
ARE YOU FUCKIN KIDDING???IT DIDNT HAVE THAT "WOW" FACTOR AND YOU DIDNR LOVE IT???IT WAS FUCKING INCREDIBLE!!!IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES I HAVE SEEN IN A VERY LONG TIME AND HEATH LEDGERS PERFORMANCE WAS ABSOLUTELY STELLAR.IT WAS FULL OF TWISTS AND TURNS AND SURPRISES AND IT COMPLETELY EXCEEDED MY EXPECTATIONS.YOUR A FOOL PEREZ.
You sure sound like "The angry video game nerd" in this review.
{♥}zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz{♥}
Perez …. U r a zkinny
azz girl now…great job…
haven't zeen ;; Batman ;;,
but hez my favorite..I know
itz great…jezzejackzon4/prezident
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I LOVED it!!!!! : D
Heath Ledger was amazing!!! And Christian Bale is hot as fuck! Mmmmmm!
Fuckin overrated 007 meets the godfather, been there done that.
You need to see the movie again.
I thought Maggie was a great Rachel. Heath was superb. I think it had the right about of darkness, the right amount of action.
Now I want to see it again in IMAX
I'm glad they got rid of the girl. I actually would have re-written half of the movie if I was one of the writers. A lot of the scenes were too long, and I found myself losing my attention span during a lot of the scenes. Too less of the main characters. I don't give a rats rear about the detective, the convicts on the boat or half the other scenes where I kept thinking to myself "just kill them and get on with the scene."
Re: yvete – hahahahahahaha! Perez , you zealot! how can you badmouth this film? heath "broke back mountain" ledger was in it after all and us gays are forever doomed to be in sycophantic reverence and eternal gratitude to him.
For Shamez.
Seriously though , this film isn't a masterpiece. It was designed to be a disposable summer blocker buster like the others , no one would be so impassioned in it's defense if heath ledger hadn't sadly died – he was a great actor – but c'mon.
you are a retard
Re: BLAZu – i totally agree.
Depressing! I feel asleep halfway through people were checking there watches constantly, I like jack nicholson much better.
ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME! The movie was Fantastic, " it was missing that wow factor" WHAT?!?! Did you open your eyes in the theater. It had all that and more. Heath ledger what absolutely incredible. There will NEVER be anyone in the history or anyother batman movie who cold ever pull that joker off and I'm not just saying that because he's deceased. He was awesome! The movie line was great it was an amazing well done, I don't even think we were watching the same movie. YOU DIDN'T GET IT! You had no Idea what you just watch. TARD It goes beyond just a movie it had so many vital points in it. God im disappointed I think you just said that to piss me off.
look the movie wasnt suposed to be anything that you said you wanted. it was not a superhero movie, it was breaking the norm. the characters werent suposed to develop like you wanted. the whole point to the joker not developing or not dealing with inner termoil was that he didnt feel things. he was completely cold and had no heart and he thought that all of society could be the same way, if pushed alittle (THE WHOLE BOAT THING). the only thing that you got right was that Maggie G. SUCKED in this movie. she was toooooo…. slutty. but other then that i think you might need to watch it again and get rid of your fairies, love, and sparkle expectations for this movie. its not going to happen. so i think your review sucked and it makes me really upset.
The beginning was slow, but it got better towards the middle and end. I think that Christian Bale did a phenomenal job playing Batman! I also liked the cinematography, it was pretty impresive! 9/10.
Carly, from Montreal, Canada
Perez ur psycho (skinny wanna-be biyatch)!!! Ur as ugly as you are when u were fat…. that's right.. u UGLY!!!
If you are gonna try to pretend you know something about FILM, please keep it to yourself.. ur review blows…. You were trying to sound professional, but ugly sistah it aint workin….
Dont listen to this clown… he's just trying to be lindsay and all the hollywood girls he criticizes cuz he's soooooo jealous of them….
please!!!!!!!!!
you resemble potato head hope you burn in hell its just show you have no taste at all tha movie is great,i read that someone had fucked their dog they should own any dog at all and they need help
clearly you didn't see the same movie i did. You wanted magic? The joker made the pencil disappear. He robbed a bank, got all the money for himself, and then used his school bug/getaway car and just got in line with all the other buses and the police never knew! Plus, there's a reason there's no "growth" to the joker. there's not supposed to be. He's so scary because he has no emotion towards life. He doesn't want anything out of this world, except to turn it into chaos. a true villian.
Perez' review is dead on. Can't add much except that while good, Ledger's performanc had too much Jack Nicholson influence in it which I didn't care too much for. Would rather have seen him bring something new to the persona.
Heath ledger fuckin sucked! good thing this hack is dead! Your right as always perez ledger is a shity actor
I genuinely worry about your EGO Perez. You have much to offer, however it seems like you are starting to believe your own hype. Be careful. It could be your downfall.
wow…u look hottzz..can u make a blog on what u did to lose weight..?
i loved it!
congrads on getting skinny!
Perez you f**k**g suck huge c0ck your website sucks just as much. Don't think for a second that your movie review or anything else you have to say is of any influence on anyone. It makes me sick to think that there are people like you in the world who do not deserve any type of "fame" or what comes along with it for making fun of people and your dog is butt a$$ ugly.
oh my god to add to my other comment. inner termoil? are you kidding? batmans girl was getting married but she still loved batman. he had to decide between saving her or dent. he had to decide to turn himself in, to "kill" batman.
YOU ARE INSANE PEREZ> this review makes me not take you seriously any more.
Was I supposed to laugh at "two face" he became big eyeball guy, i've seen better effects in videogames, only comic book nerds should watch this crap!
I totally disagree. I LOVED this movie. In my opinion it completely lived up to the hype and Heath definitely earned an Oscar nod with his performance. I feel like I should defend Maggie Gyllenhaal though, so harsh Perez!! lol She wasn't outstanding but I didn't think she wasn't terrible. But seriously this is the best movie I've seen in a long time, I'd recommend it to anyone.
you are insane! that was an amazing movie! you are the only person ive heard of that didnt love it
I think you were wrong about the Joker. There was no growth to the Joker because there wasn't supposed to be. He wasn't supposed to go through emotional turmoil. The Joker was not supposed to feel bad or guilty about anything so I think the character was perfect. I also disagree with Heath Ledger being great. He wasn't great he was outstanding, amazing, and just perfect in this role.
I loved the movie. I felt the oooh and the aaah factor. The Joker gave me the creeps. Love you Perez!
Re: Adam –
Couldn't of put it better myself.
Perez wouldn't know "talent" if it hit him in the face…
I bought some of your HOT TOPIC clothes Perez… they were cheaper than buying toilet-paper, and I really needed something to wipe my ass on, cheers!
It's ridiculous that you think you actually know anything anything about film, fashion, music etc. Did you study any of this in college? Has a professional in the field taken you under their wing and taught you the bones about these fields…I think not. Stop pretending to be a professional in these fields and stop trying to pretend you know what you are talking about because you ultimately come across as a moronic a$$.
I just went and watched it too!!! Heath was magnificent, proud to be an aussie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't care how bad you thought Dark Knight was- NOTHING compares to the crap I saw on screen at Mamma Mia last night. THE WORST MOVIE SINCE CANNONBALL RUN! Streep is waaaaay too old to paly someone who got pregnanat 20 years ago when she was a "flower child." What??- was she a 40 year old flower child when she got pregnanat???? The only good thing is the laughs you'll get out of hearing Pierce Brosnan sing….funny, but not worth sitting through that LAME movie.
Perez, were we watching the same movie? I thought it was phenomenal and quite honestly one of the best cinema experiences of my life. I thought there were plenty of action sequences, many of which caused me to make audible gasps and clasp onto my friends next to me. I agree that the Joker didn't have enough character development, but he was amazing to watch nonetheless. Batman, however, had a lot of inner turmoil to deal with! We got to see Batman delve into how he is going to define himself in relation to Gotham since he is unable to be a conventional "hero." I think this is where the film expertly mixes its dark elements (which I personally LOVED) with the traditional superhero genre we all love so much. I mean, without giving anything away, take that final monologue! I left the theatre thinking I had just seen an amazing SUPERHERO film, but one that defied many conventions of the genre. That's just my take on it. So to anyone discouraged by Perez's review - it's totally still worth the $13 I had to pay to see it (damn you, Manhattan)!
i havent seen the movie yet but u look soooooo good!!
i really dont think you know what youre talking about.
I LOVED the movie. Heath was amazing. And when you say that you didn't have any fun - there were a couple of times I laughed at the Jokers' insaneness. I also liked that it didn't quite follow the typical superhero storyline. My only really problem is with Christian Bale. I love him as Bruce Wayne, but the Batman voice HAS to go.
Hey perez!!!! I liked the movie i saw it last night. I was shocked though because did you notice there was no robin??? and i agree there was no WOW factor. Well done Perez!!!!!!!
Who cares about some fuckin nerd movie, AVRIL LAVIGNES ABBEY DAWN CLOTHING LINE IS AT A KOHL'S STORE NEAR YOU!
ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN ABBEY DAWN
Perez is actually right. I was not that pleased with Heath Ledger's performance. His character did not develop at all really. He was alright, but not "super great". He didn't "wow me"!
I also thought that the Dark Knight movie was all about Harvey Dent too. His character was more unpredictable and 'fun" to watch.
it was absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!
heath saved the best performance for last, may he RIP
Gary oldman was hot in the movie. was the only reason i watched it
BEST MOVIE EVER. FABULOUS. WONDERFUL. Heath went out with a BANG. HOW DID YOU NOT LOVE IT?!?!?!??!?!
Certainly, everyone is entitled to an opinion. However, Perez, in my opinion, your opinion sucked ass. You obviously don't know the first thing about Batman. It's supposed to be dark. It's NOT supposed to be "superhero ish". Go back and read the comics, all of them, and maybe you'll get a clue. Heath Ledger was brilliant - if he doesn't win the Oscar, then the Academy sucks ass. Dark Knight is 4 out of 4 stars, hands down.
best comic book movie so far. can't wait for watchmen. perez, maybe you're more a mamma mia kind of person.
How come batman didn't have nipples? His voice sounds like he's constipated.
you couldn't be more wrong. the movie was brilliant. the acting and progression of each character was amazing. its suppose to be dark. if you've ever read batman comics (or any comic) they are dark and thats what christopher nolan gave us, not some jerry bruckheimer pop music video crap. heath ledger was phenomenal and created one of the best villians ever in cinematic history. christian bale was brilliant as always. i usually love what you have to say about movies and music, but this time i think you totally missed the boat. This is the best comic movie ever made, one of the best movies of the year, and top ten of the century. Get with it.
Sounds like you just didn't "get it", Iron Man sounds more suited to you. This summer had the fun, "typical" superhero movie with that and even The Incredible Hulk, and then it had the risk-taking, grittier, Dark Knight. I preferred the execution of the latter.
perez - don't quit your day job honey. your quasi incoherent analysis of the dark knight misses the mark on alot of levels. the movie was brilliant. it is an intelligent, fantastic and superb rendering/interpretation of the batman story. my dear, the film challenges its audience…it seems like you expected something for the masses. chris nolan took the superhero movie genre to a new level. next time you give a review, think it through…yours was not representative of your intelligence. xxxxxooooo
I'm sure it blows just like all the rest of dead ass's movies
i agree with poster heath on this: you were wayyyyy off perez. i love your work, but dont' become a movie critic just yet, stick with movie. heath's performance was FANTASTIC because what was he supposed to draw from? he's a crazy psychotic killer who does it for himself, for CHAOS, how can you even portray that? also, no "wow" factor. ARE YOU INSANE? all the stunts were REAL, NOTHING was cgi, so that 18-wheeler? yea, that shit was real. and the pencil magic trick, hello!
also: batman begins was JUST as dark as this movie, that's kinda the point.
stick to music. but you'er looking good! keep it up!
thank you for being honest, I think you gave a great review. Can people please just respect Perez's opinion, just as we will respect your opinion of the movie. I wonder if everyone would be going on and on about Heath Ledger's performance if the horrible tragedy that followed hadn't occurred. From now on, just say what you thought about the movie and don't say that Perez is wrong or stupid or whatever because it's his opinion, if you don't like it then stop going to HIS (successful) site!
I thought it was EXCELLENT!! totally badass. Heath Ledger, Christian Bale, and Aaron Eckhart totally delivered. Worth the wait!!
omg please stop rambling perez..that was the worst review..get 2 the point already!
btw perez can u let us in on your diet secrets….you've obviously lost quite a few pounds…
the movie was AMAZING. I am not a huge action film fan or superhero movie fan..but this movie is one of my favorites of all time
This movie wouldn't have made as much money if it was rated R. You want the teenies to go in and watch this to make the $$$.
I'd have to disagree with you. I was on the edge of my seat almost the whole time! There was inner turmoil with characters. You got to see Harvy Dent change and become jaded when he tried to do good but got hurt. You saw Batman face major adversity and want to do the right thing. He also struggled with going against his rule of not killing. You also got to see other characters step up and do heroic things, it was not only batman. Not everyone had to be a super hero to do the right thing.
All that being said, Heath Ledger was AMAZING and completely stole the show for me. I couldn't look at anyone else when he was on the screen. I always think of great actors as people who if i didn't know they were playing the character, would i recognize them? I don't think I would have ever recognized Ledger if I didn't know it was him before. I put him right up there with Johnny Depp. Complete Chameleon.
perez i completely agree with everything you said!
I really loved it, agree that it was wayyy long though. Heath Ledger was amazing! And by the way Perez, you look great!!!
Re: Tom – Hey! What do u mean "His Kind?" Just because he's gay doesn't mean he doesn't have a right to express his opinion. I saw the movie! I agree with him about some parts and disagree about others! Just because he may have liked Sex and the City more has nothing to do with the fact that he is gay. I liked Sex and the City more too. Everyone likes diffrent things!
Heath Ledger WAS amazing! Honestly, I don't know what you're talking about. Christian Bale was kinda cardboard but so what. Most of the characters were developed to some degree in the first movie.
It was amazing. And I actually found myself missing the joker when he wasn't onscreen, he was the true highlight of the film. Obviously it was incredibly tense to watch something like that, but Heath was so amazing!
I HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE BUT AFTER LISTENING TO CHICA AND READING SOME COMMENTS; IS THE MOVIE SUPPOSE TO BE ABOUT BATMAN OR THE HEALTH LEDGER SHOW?…………..NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT BATMAN JUST HEDTH….SOMEBODY SAID HE LOST HIS LIFE BECAUSE OF THE MOVIE…..THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE…..HE LOST HIS LIFE BECAUSE OF THE MIXTURE OF PRESCRIPTION MEDICINES!
Mario
Did we see the same movie?
I'm sorry that you evidently like your superhero movies to be directed by Joel Schumacher. Oh well, I guess you can't please everyone.
I do like the way you throw around words like "tone" and character arc" like you have a clue what they mean. You should probably stick to drawing dicks and boogers on celebrity faces and leave criticism to critics. Both Batman and Dent had character changes in spades, and as someone else alradey posted, the Joker wasn't supposed to have an arc; he was pure anarchy (you might need to look that one up). Maybe you had to go back for your third popcorn at those points…
so you obviously never read comic books as a kid. villains like the joker don't develop. they're created as bad guys to always be bad guys and thats why we enjoy watching them. the film was great. it did have twists and surprises. heath ledger was frighteningly good as was christian bale.
it was graphic but left some of the killings to your imagination, just like a good movie should, especially a comic book movie.
it really bothers me when people who obviously don't read comic books have this preconceived notion that batman should be more "superhero-y". Batman is one of the darkest characters in dc history - he is THE tragic hero. This was one of the most amazing movies I've seen in a while. And I'm glad that comic book movie makers have finally stopped pandering to the general public.
By far the best movie i have seen i loved it amazing and heath did a wonderful job!!! he is so getting an oscar:) RIP Heath Ledger.
Re: amand – I totally agree about missing the joker. There would be lengths that he wasn't on and I did think that. Heath Ledger definitely brought that special something that light up the screen and I loved the sick humor too. Just awesome movie!!!
