Bigger Than Spider-Man

The Dark Knight continues to shatter record on its way to what is likely to be the biggest 3 day opening in U.S. box office history.
The movie already set a new benchmark for biggest take from midnight showings - it made $18.4 million, surpassing the $16.9 million record previously set by Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith.
Now, the new Batman film has surpassed Spider-Man 3's $59.8 million to have the biggest grossing day in North American box office history EVER.
The Dark Knight took in $66.4 million yesterday.
We should know by tomorrow morning whether it sets the 3-day record, but it's looking like a big YES.

Just got back from seeing the film, it was amazing! I'm going back to see it as many times as I can. If it doesn't set the record, i'll be shocked.
I saw it. Yesterday. The opening day. I'm sure I need to see it at least 10 more times to understand the full scope of it. Fuck, I couldn't take it all in. I was exhausted when I left. My eyes burned from not blinking. I'm still thinking about it. I will only say that I was so dissapointed that they left it open for another in the way they did. Another Batman fine, but not with another Joker. They should have laid the Joker to rest. Well I guess he was laid to rest but not rightly. I am a sorry sap about things but I can not get over this one. They should have killed him because he IS gone and he WAS the Joker.

couldnt it also be that tickets are at least 4 dollars more now then what they were when the other movie came out…they should base it on actual number of tickets sold. im not putting down the movie just makin a point. I loved thismovie! Christian Bale was terrific, Heath Ledger was Brillant, Aaron Eckhart was amazing and Maggie Gyllenhaal is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i saw the dark knight on imax and it was incredible!! this movie definitely deserves to break all records. everyone's performance was great, but heath ledger's was remarkable. his voice, his demeanor..you forget who the actor is under all of the make-up. everyone must see this movie.
I seriously doubt that this movie would be breaking records if Heath Ledger was still alive. It was totally and completely overhyped. No one wants to give a dead guy a bad review because everyone would be so upset and say he was disrespected blah blah blah……

i had never watched a batman film before and it blew me away.
heath's performance was certainly the focus point of the film.
he was so incredibly brilliant.
far better than the performance of the batman character.
i hope he wins the oscar.

Just got back from watching Dark Knight and I must say it sucked. Don't believe the hype. The movie is way over the top with special effects, noise and bullcorn and "The Batman" is a joke. Dude puts on a costume and his voice changes to a low breathy whisper. WHY? Also, Heath Ledger was okay. The only reason I went to see it is to see his performance and it was only alright. What a disappointment. Don't waste your time.
Honestly, the ONLY reason so many people are going to see it is to watch some dead guy's last performance. If Heath Ledger was still alive it would be getting just okay reviews. It does not deserve the raving reviews. It was okay, but certainly not great.

IMHO Heath Ledger showed he was going to become the most brilliant actor of his generation in "Monster's Ball". I did not know he was in it when I went to see it…and he blew everybody completely off the screen. I was shocked he was not nominated for tons of awards for that performance. I thought Heath was far superior to all the other performers, but look who got an Oscar. Go figure.
I've not seen "Batman" yet, but I'm sure he's great. He kept growing and learning, and got better and better after "Monster's Ball."
For those naysayers who say these box office numbers are due to some morbid obsession with Heath, I say they know nothing about great acting. He's right up there with Brando. It's a real tragedy to the true "art" of screen acting he died so young.
RIP, Heath, and thanks for all the beauty and soul you left behind.
Give me a fricken break! I saw the movie and it was good, but, it wasn't as great as everyone has been making it out to be. I was not so impressed. I walked out of the theater with a headache from all the noise and special effects and what's up with The Batman's voice? Ridiculous.

Regardless of how the studio is using Heath's death, this performance is a must see as tribute to the man himself, he put everything he had into The Joker and the money being made off it aside, he deserves to have his final and best work recognized.
It was awesome!! I loved it! Christian Bale was badass (and hot as hell) and Heath was unforgettable. As was the movie itself.

Re: Lola – Lola - The "low breathy whisper" of Batman's voice is so that no one can learn his true identity, which you should have learned if you paid attention during the movie. Remember the section where the joker tries to persuade batman from revealing himself in order to prevent the deaths of innocent civilians? That was kind of an important part of the film.
Go see the movie. It's worth it.
The movie sucked and was way too long. Heath Ledger was good, but the rest is not worth the time.
My boyfriend and I just got home from watching this and…
we want our $ money back!! Hello? No character development. The story keeps jumping around. There was no disguising Chicago to transform it into Gotham City. Bale looks like he regrets playing this role… certain scenes looks like his agent talked him into this crap.
There's no love story or conflict between Gyllenhal and Bale. There could have been a nice love triangle.
Ledger sucked as the joker. Anyone off the street could have played him with the makeup. No depth.
We're going to watch the old Batman movies just to make up for this crap!!!
P.s. Bale sounds like he has bronchitis in his Batman. wtf? He sounds as if he needs a lozenge….
We paid $2000 to see "The Dark Knight" tonight.
On our way to see "The Dark Knight," we hit a huge deer with our car. Thankfully, we were uninjured and our car was still drivable. We only have liability on our car, however, we are sure an insurance company would say it was totaled. We also don't have the money to fix it at this point.
Did it stop us from seeing this blockbuster? NO! We kept right on driving and bought our tickets, brushed the glass off of our clothes, and saw the movie anyway. It was great! It was also the perfect thing to keep our minds off of the fact we wrecked our car.
We are also very grateful that we were the ones who hit the deer instead of it destroying some classic treasure that cruised this weekend. Two cars in front of the deer was Corvette from the early 1960s.

This movie isn't good because of heath ledger's death! It is GREAT because it's simply a magnificent film! A MILLION times better than any of the old batman movies (the Dark Knight also features the original comic book joker and not the silly, goofy joker portrayed by Nicholson). A beautiful film with great performances from ALL the actors.
This movie sucked dick!!! So glad Heath commited suicide, I'd hate to see him in another movie.
