The Dark Knight is the new box office king.
Exceeding initial expectations, the film went on to shatter records left and right this weekend.
The most notable: the new Batman film is now the biggest debut ever in U.S. box office history, especially impressive for an opening on a non-holiday weekend.
The Dark Knight took in $155.34 million Fri-Sun.
That bests Spider-Man 3's 151.1 million in 2007.

DARK KNIGHT was freakin awesome, LOVE IT!!! IS THE BEST BATMAN EVER… as soon as i step out of the theater i was analyzing the whole thing. I would say ALL the ACTORS did a great job, those of you who don't agree are stupid… and as far as Heath Ledger, i absoultly agree it was his best preformance… he was truley talented and this proves it

well i thought that the movie was really good, and unexpected, but also very dark. I kind of left the theatre depressed, because the ending brings closure, but disappionts all those cheesy people that love happy endings. Cheesy people like me. I sort of wanted to leave the theatre feeling that justice was served- it was, in a way, but not the way that i expected.
oh- and Heath Ledger was very convincing as the joker! He was so creepy!
I'm so happy Katie Holmes is NOT in this movie. Her bad acting thoroughly ruined a lot in the previous installment. She must have gotten that part only because it was a business arrangement sorted out by Tom Cruise. S'hit and f'uck. I haven't seen the film yet, but I will!!! Looking forward to it!

i had seen the dark knight and it was fucking amazing. I do wish i saw it on imax because some parts in the film it went to fast to understand what had happen and this type of movie you want to feel like you're there soo overall i am please with it.

The film was nothing short of amazing, really makes me sad to watch Heath onscreen though
saw it again today and it deserves the money…it makes Spiderman look like a movie for kindergartners. My only regret that Heath Ledger didn't have more scenes as his character the Joker….the movie thater was silent as a church mouse when he came on the screen.
Noone should ever play the Joker again in a major Batman movie, it would be ridiculous in comparison with Heath's performance

Overrated. I thought Iron man and Hulk were way better. RIP Heath! I like Jack Nicholas as the "joker." The joker was a lot funnier in the past Batman's. I didn't like Batman or Two Face.

I loved the movie. I do not agree with your review- when you said the characters lacked dynamics and the movie did not have a 'wow' factor, I was thinking I would be disappointed, but I was not. I thought they had plenty of dynamics - and Heath Ledger was amazing. It was his finest film of his career. Aaron Eckhart did an excellent job, as well, and the movie had plenty of 'wow' moments. The movie was incredible, and if it doesn't get "Best Picture" at the Oscars, then the Oscars are fucking rigged. It was, by far, the best film I have ever seen.

I saw it last night and I gotta say, it's okay, but, nothing incredible. Also, the only reason I went is to see Heath Ledger's final performance and although it was good, it certainly was NOT amazing. Get a grip people.

I saw the Dark Knight saturday night and it was amazing. The best movie ive seen in forever. It still blows my mind on how well Heath ledger did as the Joker. His voice was not even recognizable throughout the whole movie and his acting skills were outstanding. He definatley deserves to win an award for his role in this film. Im not surprised this movie is biggest debut in box office history..but does that also include titanic..it was pretty huge when it came out. R.I.P Heath

They're should have been more conflict between Batman and the Joker. Didn't the Joker kill Batman's parents, and didn't Batman trying shooting at the Joker and he fell into the vat of chemicals which caused the facial disfigurement?
So now Batman is wondering hwo the hell much longer he can do this and also if something happens to him, who would take his place?
You could have had Batman versus the Joker, both wondering what they're both doing, accomplishing and how they sort of similiar: confused, lost, dark…
This also ties into the love triangle between him, Denton and Gyllenhal.
Why does she love Denton, yet goes to Batman's penthouse w/o Denton putting up a fight? Then when she's @ his penthouse, she allows him to kiss her w/o any fight, tension, etc?
They could have been a lot of love triangle plus a surprise at the end where she perhaps becomes pregnant with his kid to put a spin on things.
The director & producer did not bother to transform chicago into gotham. did you notice the bus? "GTA?" All they did was add the slash to make the C into a G. How about "D.O.T.?" Same thing. I.D.O.T. to D.O.T. Same with the cops.
The Joker could have been more developed… the storyline could have really taken off. He kept changing his story as to how his face was disfigured.
There was a lot they could have done with it…

I agree that this was not the best movie ever, but it was very, very good. Definitely the best film in awhile. Christian Bale is a solid actor, and he always delivers. Heath Ledger really nailed his character, I think this batman series is great because it is actually believable. Instead of the cheese, the perfect make up and corny lines, this film really relates to the times. Dark, mysterious, and not a fairy tale. Absolutely perfect.

omigod where to start. the film was too dark. in addition, as perez stated, there wasn't enough "batman" stuff. just so much dark, dreary story that didn't go anywhere. i don't know what to make of the movie. was it a batman movie? i left wishing id seen mamma mia. , and that maggie gilenhaal had to be the worst actress they could have hired.
Saw it yesterday and it was wonderful. Ledger played the joker so well and the score was so suspenseful that I literally had the constant feeling that something bad was always going to happen. I was very impressed and will see it again. Christian Bale is HOT!!!

It was soooooooo good. I went and saw it today and the Joker totally stole the show. You almost forget that Heath is gone until the very end of the movie and then you are suddenly back to reality. His greatest achievement by far.

It was ok, in fact a bit overrated. Heath was great, but after awhile movie seems to never end. And how can the Joker be almost all over the city doing all the crimes?
Christian Bale is too smug and snooty, and the violence is not for kids at all, such as the kid taken hostage.
loooved it.. I was in fear that I hyped it to be too good to be true in my head but it didn't let me down… I enjoyed everything about it . (and I got to watch it with a fun audience that laughed hard at when heath was awesome and funny and clapped when someone turned out to be alive… or a great action sequence…the group enthusiasm made it all the better).
imax was all sold out of course so I will go a second time just to see it bigger
Regardless of if Heath was alive or dead, he was spectacular with his material… he ran with it. I think everyone was great in it…Heath just shined because he had the most fun insane roll to play with. Yeah, Maggie wasn't anything special.. neither was Katie.. but the part of Rachel was a lame role anyway. She only served the purpose of making Harvey more interesting. I digress…good good shit.

No, the Joker didn't kill Bruce's parents in this one and in the Comic books. The Tim Burton "Batman" with Jack changed a lot of back story. In the comics also, the Joker didnt fall into vat of chemicals.
Maggie G is a character/indie actress, not a lead or "Blockbuster" was over her head. She was lifeless and when Joker was tormenting her, she was a daed fish, no emotions.
But one thing, Heath proved that playing gay doesnt ruin a career. If he didnt die, he'd be A+ list, Str8 men now think he's their 'hero'.
