i, as an agnostic and a bisexual, do not have negative feelings towards christians in general.
however, i do have negative feelings towards people who, like yourself (truth), do not acknowledge the fact that, whether you believe gay to be wrong or not, it still exists. it is not going away just because you say it's a sin.
there are still gay people who know god loves them (if that is their choice of religion). there will always be gay people, no matter how many times you threaten any of them with the "lake of fire."
i know i'm going to have the love and support of my family and friends no matter what sex i decide to love, be it male or female.
now, on the subject on the article. it was very thought-provoking. it has both sides written in there, which really helps show what really happened. larry should have been allowed to express himself. however, he did cross the line when he started to harass brandon and the other boys.
the shooting was, by no means, justified, as no shootings ever really are. but i do think some action should have been taken by both the parents and the teachers, and perhaps they should have collaborated together.
it's a tradgedy.
Re: Lalal – Thank you - I knew someone would have some sense… really, though, at this point it really is like hitting ones head against a brick wall - I read articles like this and it pains my heart b/c with the way that homosexuality is being approached as a 'trait' that a person is born with, instead of being called out for what it is - SIN and an evil spirit that is oppressing and confusing so many people - it just adds to the confusion when it's presented as a choice and one that should be embraced and accepted. It's sad. And it angers me that our youth is being led so astray. I'm not happy to see that this poor kid was shot and killed and I don't think the kid that did it had a right - but when homosexuality is being presented with such apathy - to the point that kids in school are comfortable to wear clothes and make-up proclaiming their sin - it's no wonder that stuff like this is happening - and I imagine we will see more hate crimes against gays as homosexuality is further pushed on the American public as 'normal'….b/c this is still a CHRISTIAN NATION - and when it comes down to it, the majority of Americans are disgusted with homosexuality. Because it was never meant to be accepted. It's sad and frustrating.

Wow, I am 48, my son came out to my husband and I two years ago. I probably new he was gay when he was 2. As his Mom, I think I hopped I would be wrong. I say that because I am from a different era. However now that he has come out, I do not love him any less. That article is sad. So what if he wants to fall in love with another man, Love is Love. All I ask is to respect your body and your partners. It is the same respect I have taught my daughter and my Mom taught me. Perez, we met you in Dec. at the Kitsin book signing. That is a really sad story
It's funny how some people on here make the statement about how the kid who got shot "brought it on himself" one way or another…yet out of every school shooting that has ever occurred, has it ever been a gay kid that has shot up their class?

I feel that it's sad and unbelievably avoidable of what happened to Larry. I grew-up in a community near Berekely where we had openly gay and lesbian teachers in middle school. Maybe it's the area I was raised in, but for the openly gay and lesbians at my school there was never a problem for them. If anything, we praised them for being so brave to be themselves. I hope one day the country will change it's tune.

First of all no person should ever be killed for their sexuality. This was someones child and friend being gay does not change that. Jesus was a loving man, who forgave sins. He died on the cross so that all of our sins could be forgiven. If you truely believe the homosexuality is a sin, you have a right to do so. Perhaps it is even an original sin that some people are born with. Jesus was a man of love who died for those sins and you should follow his loving example. God should be judging - not you. And you certainly shouldn't be yielding biblical verses in your un-Christian quest.
And just to clarify so I don't get blasted for saying that being gay might be a sin:
I don't mean that I think they will burn in Hell for it. I truely do believe gay people are born gay. And, as a Christian, if Christians feel the need to call it sin, it should be considered Original sin - which is something we are all born with. God created people. Even the gay ones! We are all His works of art, and NONE of us are flawless.

Re: truth – I usually don't comment on blogs like this because everyone is bashing eachother or more worried about being the first to comment rather than making a vaild opinion known on the subject at hand. FACT Yes the people that believe in the bible's teaching are very entitled to their interpretation of the book. FACT: The bible is a book written to set guidelines and a set in stone book of pure fact. it was written by men that saw things and interpreted them as they saw fit. Not an unbiased historical fact guide. FACT: people bring up the issue of gay trait no gay triat or simply put nature vs nurture. Any born trait, which no there is nothing yet to prove without a doubt that gay straight, ADHD ADD or the serial killer trait is in fact embedded within us at birth, however, there are studies that do showthat if you have strong tendencies toward something such as that (not all of which are destructive) it will be brought out earlier in a destructive home. Simply put, hate is wrong. Teasing and tourmenting is wrong no matter who it is coming from. Isn't that the real issure that needs to be addressed? Tolerance? Teach your children that people are different you dont have to like it but acceptance and tolerance and forgiveness are at the core of god and jesus's teachings in the bible aren't they? I am not religious anymore but I still live my life by those basic principles it is human rights. No excuses.
