Crocs vs. Skechers: It's War!

Women's Wear Daily reports that Crocs is suing Skechers for 'stealing' their designs and logos.

Skechers responded to the allegations in a statement issued by their lawyer, saying, "We believe that this lawsuit is completely without merit and will vigorously defend ourselves against such baseless accusations."
Crocs are pictured to the left and one of the Skechers designs named in the lawsuit is pictured on right.

Skechers, you know you are copying! Sue their asses Crocs. I'm a bit of a Diva myself so unless they have a version with heels, I'm out.
They sure look alike to me. Both fugly. But Sketchers is not the only company to make croc-knockoffs. I've seen those fugly things all over the place. I don't get this trend and hope it goes away real soon.
I think they are both dumb and ugly and should NOT be worn by ANYONE over the age of 9 years old!!!

There is no doubt…Skechers 'stole' the idea and design and idea from Crocs. I don't care what anyone else says…..I have 2 pairs of Crocs, and I love them. I slip them on when I have to jump on the tractor (to mow my lawn), to run an errand, to drop my kid off at a playdate, etc.
I first read about Croc's about 3 years ago (when I was getting ready for my Alaskan Cruise…in fact, I bought my first pair, which were pink, at that time)…so, Skechers IS cashing in on the idea, if it was in the past couple of years.
Sketchers knows they ripped off Crocs. Shady. Losers.
Technically speaking, they cannot "copy" a particular company's design. They can only be "inspired by". There needs to be at least 5 things different about the design and technical aspect of each in order to be truly "different" from one another. Just by judging from the picture, there are more than 5 things different, and so they may not have much of a lawsuit…

Uhh… I don't know where the Crocs people have been, but there's a LOT of people ripping off their design. I work for a store and we have an identical shoe, but they're made by a no-name company and they sell for $7.

All cheapo shoe companies copy other shoe's designs, it's so annoying! Crocs, Vans, Converse…they've all had their designs copied. BUT I personlly don't like crocs at all, so I really don't care becuase they're REALLY ugly.
i work at crocs in Niwot, colorado and skechers has been parking their truck with pictures of the skechers between our buildings…..obviously they think it is getting to the employees but we see it as a good laugh at their cheap ass knockoffs. And yes people we know they are FUGLY……..but who cares we are successful!

Crocs are made of Croslite, which is lightweight and lasts a long time. I don't know what Skechers are made of, but they fucked up my feet goooood. YEP, they look alike, but so do a cup of Starbucks and a cup of Folgers.

As a designer who spends all day coming up with ways to make the same 10 handbags look different than the competitions, I say "Skechers designer, burn in hell". I NEVER knock off my competition as badly as you blatantly knock off Crocs. I hope Crocs successfully beats down every bit of their competition. That being said, they need to expand. Secret to their success has been appealing to parents and that is where their future fortune lies. And they ought to market them to mental hospitals. Because you can't run in them, fo sho.

Sketchers definitely stole Crocs' idea. They look identical! I think they are ugly as hell HOWEVER they are the most comfortable thing you will ever wear. Sometimes, like in the medical profession, it's all about comfort!
