Expanding The Comic Universe
DC Comics is going from the big screen to your computer screen.
The makers of Batman, Superman, and several other superheroes is creating DC Universe Online.
It's going to be sort of an ongoing and evolving virtual world.
A never-ending role playing game!
Users will be allowed to create their own superhero or villain. They'll then be able to team up with heroes like Superman and Wonder Woman in the 3-D world.
The game is being made for Sony's PlayStation 3 and Windows PCs.
WTF?!?
Not compatible for MACs???
That's some major points lost.
DC Comics artist Jim Lee says, "You chose your physique, your name and your power base and based on (that), you have a tree of powers that you can develop. You can be a speedster, or fly fast, or be one of these characters who swims."
The game has been in the making for the past three years.
As of yet though, no release date has been set.
Lee says, "When it's ready. They really haven't cut any corners, and are really putting all the resources in to make an awesome game."
Will U buy the game?

no I probably wont … not the same as the movie … FIRST
FIRST
Who makes video games for macs?
Not first!
Hell yeah, screw mac users!
sounds cool to me!!!!
YES!!!!! FIRST
FIRST
Perez…. this really is no news that we want on your website, since when a computer game is a gossip story?
it doesnt come for macs, so, uh, NO
Cool car.
Sounds lame!! I hate that you can't buy it for MACS! Losers!
Show your ignorance once again. Macs are not gaming platforms, if the game makes it past a year or two you will see it on a Mac. Just not enough owners to make it viable to develop game software for them yet, they are getting there just calm the fuck down.
i gots a mac. cant use!
Cool Car! Fun Game!
Stoooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnned!
YES
Great- Americans need another reason to sit on their fat asses
haha MACS are not worthy of having such a cool game lol
Fuck yeah
Sure I'll buy this game…it's called City of Heroes and it came out in 2004
HELL YEAH! it looks cool….
sounds extremely similar to city of heroes and city of villians. google it.
How many ppl really have Mac's
wtf anyways……..games are for CHILDREN
first=]??
NO MAC? who the fuck cares! MACS account for less than 1% of total gamers out there.
As far as the game goes, it doesnt sound too ground breaking…anyone ever heard of World of Warcraft? 4 years + and still going strong with over 15 million subscribers…DCUO won't last
wtf
PEREZ, Mac's aren't for gaming. And this isn't the first superhero/villain online game. There is City of Heroes/Villains and Champions Online.
And to the dumbasses above, he is the queen of ALL media. He doesn't do just gossip.
And yes, I might play on my PC or PS3.
Mare, you must have shit for brains making a comment about a game that is about EVERY HERO being the same as a movie? Right.
I hate online games. Lego Batman is going to be the definitive Batman videogame; I'll buy that!
No, I will not be buying the game. Who cares if it isn't made for Mac, PCs are far more common. Major Points Gained!
Oh yeah, and don't go into videogame reporting, perez. Take it from an uber-nerd, it's not your scene.
They're Macs, not MACs (which is some sort of wireless network address).
Seriously…why would it be all capitals? Mac, short for Macintosh. Duhhh
Sounds like a branded version of City of Heroes, which has rocked that part of the game world for four years. I think the DC version sounds good on paper, but CoH may already pwnz that market
.
It seems as though every company in the gaming field is trying to make a World of Warcraft. Maybe one day one will live up to it, but I highly doubt this game will be it.
am i crazy or did i already hear that dc is teaming up with mortal kombat?
Re: manda – not even close idiot
arent they just ripping off World of Warcraft?? sounds the same to me….
Absolutely! I love virtual online worlds, this'll be my next addiction! There is a huge market out there for this.
I can't recall any RPG games that play well on Mac. Mac's are for designers, not game players!
Might want to catch up to 2008 there Perez, nobody makes games for MAC's.
ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY ALREADY COVERED THIS IN THEIR MAGAZINE!!!!
Gawd Perez, you're stealing all your shit from them!
Dude, you don't play games on a Mac. That's what a PC is for. And did we not already have the MMORPG Age of Heroes or whatever… you could be a superhero or a super villain and the game SUCKED. Seems like another sucky knock off to me.
goodb says – reply to this 9Perez…. this really is no news that we want on your website, since when a computer game is a gossip story?
*************************************************************
I'm tired of people like this piece of shit here who think they cna RULE what the fuck PEREZ puts on HIS FUCKING SITE!!! who the fuck are YOU to say what he PEREZ can say on PEREZs BLOG??? IMEAN FUCK …It says PEREZ at the top….FIRST fuckers like YOU started with the politics when he posts about candidates ….then I saw it when he posted about Roeper …now he cant post ABOUT GAMES cause YOOOU feel its not GOSSIP?????
WELL FUCK YOU YA STUPID BASTARD!!! GET YOUR OWN FUCKING BLOG, COPY AND PASTE YOUR OWN GOSSIPBLOG BULLSHIT!
btw….the game sounds AWESOME!
if it's for PS3, definitely
OMFG!!!! Being a techie I am beyond ecstatic. I cant wait..woohoo.
hell yeah i would buy it
Most likely will be published by Electronic "kiss of death" Arts so probably it will suck. And not mac compatible. Thats another thing against it. Thats why World of warcraft rules. Thats passion on video games. They take years to come out with new stuff but it never dissapoints. This will be just another City of heroes.
"Not compatible for MACs???"
Hello? Have you been living under a rock? MACs haven't been a priority for developers in at least 25 years. No one uses MACs. Normal people want functionality, not an overpriced fashion statement.
Re: elmas –
LOL. Add in 3 parts grind and 1 part pretty colors and WoW subscribers will eat the shit up.
What's with all the video game news of late? Are you a closet gamer?
I may!
Re: SparklingBerry –
You're an idiot. The games industry makes billions of dollars every year and the biggest buyers are 18-30 year olds.
Re: Bob –
Meant to say 15.
Haha, that's funny Perez. Games for Macs… funny joke. Go ignorance, go!
Re: kath –
Uh? Ripping off World of Warcraft? You must be new to internet if you think WoW is original in ANYTHING. There's more in the Online world than WoW.
Video games are for autistic fags who had vaccines and now can't even feed themselves just sit and be superheroes on tv all day. But they want to be marvel not dc. dc is for nice liberals who never kill any bad guys.
What ever happened to City of Heroes?? www.cityofheroes.com/
Isn't that already where the losers play?
OMG. I. want. it. NOW!
Yes! And my toon will be super mr fantabulous man!
But we already have CITY OF HEROES (www.cityofheroes.com)
hello perez, macs are hardly gaming machines are they? i'm sure if you were a gamer yourself you wouldn't have made such a fatal error with words.
Re: MeRy – you stupid cunt!
Gosh there gos the idea of me buying it. Darn PC lovers not being accepting of mac users. We accept that some people want PC's (don't ask me why but they do) so they should make the game for macs. So no I wouldn't buy it
If you want to play video games perez, get a PC. If you want to do anything else, get a Mac. It is that simple. Mac's are not powerful enough to handle any decent games.
Will I buy the game? not if it doesn't support OS X.
And for the retards that are saying "screw mac users" Don't you have some viruses to catch and clean?
"Mac's are not powerful enough to handle any decent games."
Idiot. I suggest you go and look at the Mac pro tower with 8 intel cores. I wont go into the fact that the MacPro laptop ran Vista faster than any other laptop out at the time it came out.
Not fast enough my ass.
Re: Bob Hello? Have you been living under a rock? MACs haven't been a priority for developers in at least 25 years. No one uses MACs. Normal people want functionality, not an overpriced fashion statement. –
Bob MACS are teller machines. And you are using arguments that weren't even valid when they were made back in 1996.
As for priority… that is why I guess MS still makes Office for the Mac, and over half of Adobe's sales are Mac.
Get a clue®
Most MMO (Massively Multiplayer Online) games are never released on MACs.
It has something to do with how they are made with operating systems.
I can't think of one successful MMO that was ever relesed for MACs. World of Warcraft wasn't, Final Fantasy XI wasn't, Everquest wasn't etc.
It's not new that it's not being released for MACs, I don't quite know why most game makers don't make games on MACs also… Most Computer Games don't come on to MAC either (At least the successful ones).
Anyways, I just thought that you should know.
There is really no point loss that any other successful online game hasn't already loss.
You can ask any person who plays a lot of video games, if you ask them about buying a laptop they will tell you to get a PC if you plan on playing games. If not, then a MAC might be right. But MACs are not for people planning to buy games.
No.
Perez, darling, lovely:
Gamers normally use PCs over Macs. Macs are normally for artistic things, whereas PCs are used by the scientist/college grad crowd. This includes most of us gamers, including myself who has a specially designed laptop.
To quote John, the fourth replier, no one makes good games for Macs, because Mac users don't play games.
Re: KevinK –
Honey, we know how to get viruses out because we're not working with Fischer-Price-for-adults computers. I believe it was Tim Buckley who put it like this: Macs don't have viruses because you can't even garner negative attention.
Go photoshop a band flyer in a coffee house or something. Leave the science and intelligence to us. It's a better deal for everyone!
City of Heroes can run on Mac without any trouble using Boot Camp. It also has an incredible costume creator, so you can change your hero's or villian's look at any time. The devs are constantly adding new content and there's tons to do both mission-wise and socially. Kick-ass game.
Of course it's not for the mac - what games ARE for macs?
The biggest producer of software for the mac, is not coincidentily - apple.
Nobody else wants to program for those pieces of crap unless they absolutely HAVE to (or somebody pays you a TON of money to do it).
Re: Anne –
i love you jealous anti-american folk! you make me so glad i live in a free country with dental coverage.
I FUCKEN HATE MAC if your shit breaks and your not rich like PERZITO here they dont give a fuck about You. I just wanted to say MAC SUCKS BIG CULO. MAC make up too for any pendejos out there
um, i'm pretty sure that you can like run windows on a mac so what the BFD?
it's called Bootcamp. ha.
f**k mac they suck
windows pc is the way to go :]
Video game makers better get their head's out of their asses and realize Mac is chomping a huge corner out of the Window's market. Who owns Macs? Rich people, people in publishing and geeks. Wake up game makers… the people who play your games are rapidly becoming a part of the Mac cult.
I don't know what outdated Mac you're using, but mine is two years old and runs Windows, so yeah…you can play these games on your Mac, if you really want to.
WoW is available for Mac. In the world of MMORPG, that's all that matters.
I will be definitely buying this video game and I'll be enjoying it on my PS3! It better be good. It is cool that you get to work with other superheroes. Fuck Superman, but Batman, Wonder Woman, and the others will be awesome.
Actually, there is a new technology called Cider that makes it A LOT easier to port a Windows compatible game to Mac. If the developer doesn't create the port, hackers will.
WTF. My MAC kicks all asses. So fuck them if they are not compatible for MAC. Suck it Batman.
This news has been out for a while now, but you wouldn't have known that. The information has already been published on gaming sites, which you never go on because you only play 'Clueless'.. I suggest that you leave gaming news to the pros.
you had no clue, that maybe 95% of computer games (maybe even more) are not available for mac, did you? if you want to expand your "competencies" into the field of computer gaming you should do some more research first, them cutie nerds can be real bitches if you get something wrong

I'M SO GETTING THIS HAHAHA i love being a geek
Re: scott It has something to do with how they are made with operating systems. I can't think of one successful MMO that was ever relesed for MACs. World of Warcraft wasn't, –
You sir are a retard and need to STFU about Macs. You have no clue what you are talking about. None.
apple.com/games/articles/2004/11/worldofwarcraft/
What do you call that? WoW on the Mac. It's been out forever.
Re: bored The biggest producer of software for the mac, is not coincidentily - apple.Nobody else wants to program for those pieces of crap unless they absolutely HAVE to (or somebody pays you a TON of money to do it). –
Another ignoramus. Did a Mac beat you up on the playground?
Go take a look at the 8 core Intel Mac towers Apple is selling. 32gigs of RAM and faster than most PCs. Not only that, it runs Vista faster too.
How ironic is that?
Yes Macs have MANY games being made for it. Especially since it's switched to Intel. Companies HAVE been porting their games to the Mac cause it's easier to do. Before when companies would be reluctant to, it had NOTHING to do with the QUALITY of the Mac. Mac users for the most part are more CREATORS than GAMERS.
The only thing that Windows machines are really good at is games. Having said that, consoles are even better.
Re: furba you had no clue, that maybe 95% of computer games (maybe even more) are not available for mac, did you? –
Actually ANY game will work on a Mac considering it runs Windows natively. I think you mean work on OS X. WHICH BTW your 95% you just pulled out of your ass.
If you are talking about the generic $5.00 poker games that are in best buy's bins then yes. Most of those don't work on a Mac.
Consider yourself schooledinated.
LorelHoney, we know how to get viruses out because we're not working with Fischer-Price-for-adults computers.
Uh yes you are or you'd not need to learn how to get rid of viruses. Real computers don't have to worry about them. Toy ones that are put together horribly however do.
I believe it was Tim Buckley who put it like this: Macs don't have viruses because you can't even garner negative attention.
Well Tim Buckley needs to get his head out of his ass an actually learn why Macs don't have virii. And you better bet the FIRST person to get one to propagate (And they are trying daily) will be famous.

Go photoshop a band flyer in a coffee house or something. Leave the science and intelligence to us. It's a better deal for everyone![/re]
LOL! While I am a professional graphics designer, Scientists use OS X and other UNIXes over Windows too.
gah your bold tags are broke again Perez. Must be that windows server you run this on.
BTW Most of the artwork here is done on a Mac. And I have had a lot of artwork I have personally done on a Mac on here that Perez has used.
You are using a page that has Mac made graphics!!11 OH NOS!2
lawl
So to wrap this up. Are Macs slow? No. The 8 core Intel tower is faster than most any PC out there.
Does OS X (The OS that runs Macs suck?) No. It's not only more secure than Windows because no one can get a virus to propagate one one, it's also more RESPONSIVE than Vista and XP both. (There was an article the other day about how Vista loses a lot more "pixels" with the pointer when compared to XP. And XP loses even more compared to OS X. This is why most multimedia is done on a Mac. That and the font and colosync abilities.
Do Macs have games? Yes. the games that Mac users actually ASK for. Or request, We either get ported by the company, or someone else. And it works great. Or we can just dual boot into Windows and run it there. (Though I've never had a reason to even install Windows on my Mac the past 2 years…)
If I was going to buy just a gaming machine would I buy a Mac? No. If I want a gaming machine, I'd just buy a console. Which are more supported and play games better for the most part.
Not to mention that most Mac users aren't of the FPS or role playing game type. Usually someone is using OS X to get a job done. Not harass a bunch of kids on WoW. (That South Park episode rocked.
)
Speaking of South Park, it is also Made on a Mac
Oh and another tidbit.
pfeifferreport.com/trends/trend_vistauif.html
The most preoccupying results of these benchmarks concerned mouse precision and efficiency: in these benchmarks (which measure both the time necessary to complete a series of precision tasks and the number of errors, and used the same mouse and mouse-pad for all tests), Windows Vista scored significantly worse than Windows XP. Windows Vista scored a Mouse Precision Error Coefficient of 0.52, compared with 0.40 for Windows XP, and 0.08 (!) for Mac OS X"
That means that OS X, as far as tracking movements is a ton better than Vista and XP both. Therefore, would make a better gaming machine over all.
Vista has a slower over all response than XP, and XP has a even slower over all response than OS X.
And it's one of the reasons OS X is used in graphic design, and places where such precision is NEEDED. The scientific community has even grabbed hold of OS X since it's an official Unix.
So Macs aren't toys, the reason it doesn't have a lot of the GENERIC games is most users aren't interested in them. Having said that, if enough Mac users write to companies, they end up putting a port out quickly. Or someone else does. And it runs superbly.
OS X had the ultra cool graphics effects Vista has now, 10 years ago. OS X keeps getting FASTER, and Windows keeps getting SLOWER.
there's this little thing called boot camp for a mac. you can basically run a mock-up windows computer through the mac… therefore, not for mac doesn't make a difference. they can still use the game should they like.
MACs are rarely compatible with video games.
Re: LHK MACs are rarely compatible with video games. –
1. You did read the posts before you posted. This is obvious.
2. MAC computers are teller machines and have nothing to do with Apple.
Re: lol @ there's this little thing called boot camp for a mac. you can basically run a mock-up windows computer through the mac therefore, not for mac doesn't make a difference. they can still use the game should they like. –
And before anyone says it, It's not emulated either. Windows runs native on Macs, and is fully supported.
However OS X isn't fully supported on just any ole PC. That's just another advantage a Mac has over other generic PCs.
Hell yeah! Macs blow (All Hail Steve Jobs) and the software is too expensive. Gaming is for the open PC platform not Big Brother Jobs.
