Very disturbing report.
Beijing, the home of the 2008 Olympics, appears to be a racist place.
A report claims that bar owners in the 'party' section of Beijing were asked by the government to refuse service to black patrons.
Bar owners near the Workers' Stadium in central Beijing say they have been forced by Public Security Bureau officials to sign pledges agreeing not to let black people enter their premises.
"Uniformed Public Security Bureau officers came into the bar recently and told me not to serve black people or Mongolians," said the co-owner of a western-style bar, who asked not to be named.
WTF?
Does that mean black athletes can't celebrate at a bar with their team mates after years of training and working hard?!
Isn't it great to see that an event that's meant to to unify the world is happening in a place that subscribes to disturbing ideologies?

not all of these "reports" have turned out to be true, and im completely surprised at the comments people are posting here as well. i live in china and i know that sometimes even more things are allowed in china then are allowed in america. this might not even be true, i mean, "reports" have been wrong before. all of the comments that people have posted here claiming how China is backwards and all that is only proving how people all over are racist. if you people went out of your backyards more, you might realize places like America and Europe arent the only civilized places.

China even has its internet monitored and Chinese people cannot say anything anti China Gov. No free speech etc…However saying that I have a friend in a good job in the UK who was brought up in China, until she was 14 or so, as was her husband and they were told Blacks were beneath the Chinese as Blacks had been slaves. Particularly West Indians or US Blacks with slavery descent. I think she said African Blacks were regarded with a higher respect but still the whole concept of what she was told was very disturbing. Of course, now being in the West (London) she knows this was not true.

I think someone sold the Olympics out anyway because there is no way the games should have been held there. Aside from their civil rights abuses, did you see them removing the algae from the water where the water games are supposed to take place? And their air - some premier runners have refused to even partake in the games because of the air pollution - which, by the way, is so bad it's becoming a WORLD problem, and affecting the West Coast of the US. The Chinese gave us SARS, bird flu and a whole host of other deadly contatgeons… being in Beijing is no privilege. I was on tour in China with my school orchestra a few years ago, and people would spit at our concertmaster in the street. why? Because she was black. And in this area, black guys come just to sell drugs. That's why autority ask to don't serve them …they want stop drug traffic during the Olympics but they also don't want fight them everyday. But you must know China is a really beautiful country and no racist at all. But sometime they can use some "rude" method to have what they want.

It's well known amongst the expat population here that this is a load of rubbish written only to get a story - note there are no direct quotes from anyone.
Yes there is a certain amount of racism here and tolerance of minorities in particular is questioned but they are cracking down on everyone - no bars allowed open past 2am, no live music and no open air dining/drinking.

ok perez iv got a bone to pick with u. yes, its wrong that the GOVERNMENT of china arent allowing black people to enter their clubs but that doesnt mean all of China is racist. u should think about ur words. saying that is basically saying that all muslims are terrorists and that aint true either.

It sounds like bullshit to me, but China has poisoned our children with lead, killed our pets with tainted food, pollute more than anyone else, invaded Tibet for no reason other than they could, eat cats and dogs, AIDS is rampant, the list could go on and on and now this. What do you do when you suck assballs as a country? You make more enemies.

If China discriminates majorly against blacks, then why is the Chinese government investing heavily in Africa. Dozens of deals have been made with African governments to source their raw materials, because the Chinese need raw materials for their industries. They're building roads, infrastructure in Africa.
That's why the US is pissed with China, because the Chinese are making deals with the Sudanese government who've committed atrocities against their own people, with the Chinese even supplying them with arms.
Racism? What racism? The Chinese will make deals with whoever and whereever as long as they benefit from it.

I would like to say that my comment would be unbiased and most appropriate since I am not Chinese (Vietnamese-American to be exact) and I have actually live in China. Approximately 18 months, China pledged $55 billion (may not be the exact numbers) to build a railroad system going through Africa. Hence, a large number of Africans (who of course are black) were welcomed in China. Not only did the government closed down busy streets and highway for this race, much of what they ate were free. Shops from LV, Gucci, MaxMara, and etc were closed down specifically only for black people. With this being said, I highly doubt that the government in Beijing would ask bar owners to refuse black patrons. The Olympics is a unification of the world and should be celebrated with respect for everyone regardless of race, gender, and etc. I honestly believe that this report has been false since the Chinese are known for being hospitable people.

Jennings was a free tradesman and operated a dry cleaning business in New York City. His income went mostly to his abolitionist activities. Lewis Howard Latimer was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1848. Born in Columbus, Ohio, in 1856, Granville T. Woods dedicated his life to developing a variety of inventions relating to the railroad industry. To some he was known as the "Black Edison". Woods invented more than a dozen devices to improve electric railway cars and many more for controlling the flow of electricity. His most noted invention was a system for letting the engineer of a train know how close his train was to others. This device helped cut down accidents and collisions between trains.
