Very disturbing report.
Beijing, the home of the 2008 Olympics, appears to be a racist place.
A report claims that bar owners in the 'party' section of Beijing were asked by the government to refuse service to black patrons.
Bar owners near the Workers' Stadium in central Beijing say they have been forced by Public Security Bureau officials to sign pledges agreeing not to let black people enter their premises.
"Uniformed Public Security Bureau officers came into the bar recently and told me not to serve black people or Mongolians," said the co-owner of a western-style bar, who asked not to be named.
WTF?
Does that mean black athletes can't celebrate at a bar with their team mates after years of training and working hard?!
Isn't it great to see that an event that's meant to to unify the world is happening in a place that subscribes to disturbing ideologies?

Percy Lavon Julian was noted most for his synthesis of cortisone from soy beans, used in treating rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory conditions. His synthesis reduced the price of cortisone. Julian was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1990.
Garrett Morgan was born in Paris, Kentucky in 1877. As a self-educated man, he went on to make an explosive entry into the field of technology. He invented a gas inhalator when he, his brother, and some volunteers were rescuing a group of men caught by an explosion in a smoke-filled tunnel under Lake Erie. Although this rescue earned Morgan a gold medal from the City of Cleveland and the Second International Exposition of Safety and Sanitation in New York, he was unable to market his gas inhalator because of racial prejudice. However, the U.S. Army used his device as gas masks for combat troops during World War I. Today, fire fighters save lives because, by wearing a similar breathing device, they are able to enter burning buildings without harm from smoke or fumes.
There are literally THOUSANDS of African, Asian, Hispanic Inventors that helped to pave the way to where we are now. Just because their names are not well known doesn't mean that they did not exist. It took all peoples of the United States of America to make it what it is today. I truly feel pity for those who downplay others contributions. Every culture has their problems and it takes many years even centuries to overcome them. To those who are racist, I feel pity for you. Asians are primarily xenophobic. This is not something new. They even have superiority complexes with other Asians. Just look at Japan and Korea. You can't really blame them for this. Every time I hear something like this I'm really disappointed in the administration of my hometown, Beijing. I can't speak for the rest of the country, but the racism in Beijing really is something that needs to be gotten rid of. The solution is not from overseas people pointing fingers and saying "HAHA FUCK U CHINKS" (how does that improve anything?) but from people HELPING the Chinese see that racism is wrong. Many Beijingers think that their city is the best and the rest of the Chinese (like Mongolians) are inferior. Schools don't offer programs on racial equality, so these thoughts are allowed to go unchecked.

Man thats justnot true, Im a european born in africa living in Beijing for 4 years, have two restuarnts with my partner and no such incedents have taken place, we have been asked to clean up the place, regualr check for pricing control and quality, but ABSOLUTLEY no request. The South China Morning Post is a traditionally very Pro-Beijing News Paper and this is definitely a strange turn for them. If you are wondering why Western Newspapers such as NYtimes, Washington Post aren't eating this crap up is because……well they know its crap and its not supported by any legit sources. Many of them have called all over Beijing to try to find sources for the story…but most bar owners have no idea what they are talking about.

There must be a misunderstanding about this story. I don't think the Chinese are so foolish to be that blatantly racist. Surely, they anticipated black athletes so the ban was likely meant to address drug criminals. I don't find that so wrong. I am more shocked about the ban against Mongolians. Sadly, this is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to discrimination and abuse against minority populations in China, populations which are poor and have limited power to demand better treatment. It's another embarrassing indication that human rights is still in the dark ages there.
On a different note, the blacks are being very nasty towards Asians on here, spewing blanket racist remarks against all Asians. I think it's safe to say that most Asian Americans are familiar with racism and wouldn't agree with discrimination such as this. Don't lump people together based on their race!

Ok, hold up! There is too much ignorance in this room for my brain to continually wrap around on. First of all, we do not know how true this story is. It would not surprise me but again, we don't know. RUMORS. Second, I was mugged in my lifetime by street kids who happen to be Black. I don't live in fear of black people just because the ethnicity they were born with. My boyfriend is black and he is far from a criminal. He is very educated with his Masters in Rhetorical Studies. Yes.
I know, many are mad because your feelings are being invalidated by some people and I understand each of you. Even if your opinion differs from mine. I understand the hatred and the hurt. But we cannot live under those guises. You only do yourself more harm. Instead of getting frustrated by those you hate, why don't you relax, pick up a book, and read about the boring stuff. Like why blacks seem to be more at the economic disadvantage than whites. Why nobody is hearing the please and cries from the black community, invalidating their experiences. When you invalidate someone's experience, it turns into frustration and hatred instead of open communication. That is, only if you care to put your egos as hateful people aside.
So you think this country would be better off with no Black men, women and children? I hate to break it to you but much of this country was built off the backs of African-Americans and has added cultural value to America. If I used your rationale of speak, I would have to hate all whites because of the way I was treated growing up. But I don't because people are individuals and who am I to assume who they are without understanding where they are coming from? People are not born but are bred to hate.
