Okay, I am going to clarify the whole story here for the ignorant people who are not paying attention.
He is technically a woman, but he is transgendered, which means that he feels like he should be a man; like his personality is male. So he got his breasts removed and took hormones, but never went through with getting a full sex change. And when he and his wife (or girlfriend? I'm not sure which) wanted to have a baby, they learned that his wife has a medical problem where she can't have babies. So he volunteered to get donor sperm and have the baby.
It's not because they're crazy, or disgusting, and their child isn't going to be brain damaged or any of that crap.

Legally, Thomas is a man, legally married to his wife. They have a baby. It's probably got to be better than how I was raised…divorce, physical, emotional, verbal abuse…and I turned out okay because I always had my grandmother to love me. I think it's all about love, and clearly this child is loved.

Firstly we're told the supposedly unchallengeable statement that everyone has the right to a biological child. Do they? Nature sure didn't make it that way. The other ploy used is to focus on and use the baby, asking how anyone could question what they have done when you look at her. Yes, she's a gorgeous baby and totally innocent, but you just hope this couple has the resources to deal with all the questions and doubts that will start coming as she grows up. And all the publicity, TV interviews, photo shoots in mags, etc. Why? Is it because they want to tell the world, or does money have something to do with it? I'd like to see published how much they've made out of selling their story. Surely, in the interests of the child, it would be better to quietly get on with life and cross the bridges as you come to them, rather than turning her birth into a media freak show?
