PETA vs. Batman

wenn5167366.jpg

PETA is upset with the new Batman movie.

As many of you saw, since the film has done so much business, The Dark Knight had some "unfriendly" dog scenes in the pic.

Particularly the scene where Batman "was punching out dogs left and right." In self-defense of course.

But some PETA is asking why with so many gadgets that Batman has on hand, the only way to defend himself was to hurt the dogs?

What do U think?

Is it just an innocent part of the movie, or is PETA overreacting?

Check out their list of the Top 10 Animal-Friendly Superheroes….after the jump.

10. Hellboy—This superhero may be someone that would make you cross the street if he came your way (the red skin and horns might be a bit intimidating), but he's just a big teddy bear with a love for kittens (and many successful attempts to save them).

9. Aquaman—The King of Atlantis, Aquaman can commune with sea creatures, whom he considers citizens of his ocean realm, and routinely protects them from being abused or exploited by the surface-dwellers.

8. Black Panther—As the leader of the African nation of Wakanda, the Black Panther has banned the evil White Gorilla Cult from his country. Members of the cult seek to gain power by killing one of Wakanda's rare white gorillas, bathing in their blood, and eating their flesh (um, gross). The villain known as Man-Ape gained his superpowers by doing exactly that—incurring the wrath of the Black Panther and becoming one of his greatest foes.

7. Superman—In a one-shot "PSA comic" entitled "Superman: For the Animals," Supes rescues a kitten from being thrown off a bridge by a group of kids named (seriously) Ballser, Charlie, Donuts, and Eightball and, in the process, teaches everyone a valuable lesson about not picking on anyone weaker than you—including animals.

6. Captain Planet—He just wants to save the planet from the evil Captain Pollution! And that, of course, includes all our wildlife friends who live there. Point of fact, though: "Heart"? NOT an element.

5. Thor—In the Ultimate Avengers animated movie, we find Thor out at sea with a group of activists protesting whale slaughter. If only his fellow Norwegians in the real world got the picture that whaling is a thing of the past!

4. Beast Boy—Everyone's favorite Teen Titan also happens to be vegan (and not just because he's been hanging out on peta2.com like pretty much every other teenager). You would be, too, if you had the metamorphic ability to turn into any animal and therefore had a little compassion for the ones that get eaten.

3. Animal Man—This lesser-known DC hero can mimic the abilities of animals and is an ardent advocate for animal rights. He's a vegetarian, and in Animal Man #15, Animal Man saves a group of dolphins from cruel fishers and drops the villains in the ocean to drown—only to be saved by one of the very dolphins he was trying to kill.

2. Wolverine and Jean Gray—In X-Men Unlimited #44, Wolverine catches three neighborhood boys in the act of torturing and killing animals for kicks—and offers to return the favor on behalf of his furry friends. Using her psychic powers, Jean Gray instead makes the boys experience in their minds the pain and suffering that they caused to their innocent victims. In the next issue … Colonel Sanders!

1. Wonder Man—In Civil War: Frontline #5, part of Marvel's epic Civil War story arc, Wonder Man is interrupted on his way to an important function by two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents looking for answers about a mysterious aquarium store bombing (read the book). The important function? A PETA banquet. 'Nuff said.

Oh, please! Shouldn't they be doing something that would actually help animals? Instead of you know, bragging on movies that hurt animals, when the animals aren't even hurt in real life, or how about stop hiring hypocrite celebritys for their fake stupid campaigns

fuck peta dude. he wasn't fucking punching out dogs that were random, they used dogs that were attack dogs..you're telling me peta would rather have an attack dog shot or have "batman" use one of his, OBVIOUSLY LESS HUMANE GADGETS, than his hands to defend himself? come on peta…if he would have done that then you guys would have RED FUCKING FLAGGED THE MOVIE BECAUSE BATMAN WAS KILLING DOGS AND SENDING KIDS THE WRONG MESSAGE ABOUT BATMAN AND HIS USE OF GADGETS TO KIDS AND THE UNETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS. leave the legacy be..the dogs weren't hurt and batman didn't do anything wrong to them..DARK NIGHT IS THE BEST MOVIE OF THE CENTURY, YOU JUST WANT IN ON THE FAME. LAME LAME LAME. IT'S BAD ENOUGH YOU HAVE YOUR SPOKEPEOPLE GOING AROUND CALLING PEOPLE UNETHICAL NAMES…I THINK YOU SHOULD START LOOKING AT YOUR CELEBRITY BILLBOARDS AND NOT AT SHIT THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU AT ALL WHATSO EVER.

I am an animal lover… and have been waiting anxiously for the new batman movie…however, I do not know if I will now see it. YES! I LOVE PETA! and I do not see the reason for this type of behavior in movies. It is uncalled for. I would much rather see stupid people attacked, than animals…because in real life they have no choice. but we do. and yes, all of you disgusting haters complain all you want!!! haha!

  8. kalei says – reply to this

    408

peta overreacts to everything. they just want their name in the press. its patheric. The movie isn't real, no ones actually hurting dogs. Self defence isn't a crime, they need to stop acting like it.

So there was seriously someone watching those scenes whose main thought was "OMG, not the dogs!!" While people were being brutalized and murdered left and right, and at one point a child had a gun held to his head? Yeah, that makes total sense. Way to be outraged over the things that really matter, PETA.

It's a movie for God sake!!! Even though not a movie, if someone is being attacked by dogs in the real world, they also will do the same thing.

Who cares about PETA anyway, they only use celebrities as their tools. And the biggest fan of PETA is Pamela "Bimbo" Anderson who obviously ugly and an idiot

  32. Em says – reply to this

PETA is just overreacting, I love dogs to death and I was bursting out laughing when Batman was sockin' the dogs. Come on, it's Batman nailing dogs in the face! That shit was funny!

    PETA needs to stfu.

  35. Kim says – reply to this

    435

PETA is so full of shit. They are all bent out of shape over something fake involving dogs but they have no issues with real laws being passed throughout the country banning Pittbulls, and Pittbull-like dogs, taking them from their homes when they have done nothing wrong and euthanizing them. I hate PETA, they are famewhores.

  36. Tracy says – reply to this

    436

F…. Pita and F… Pamela Anderson - Pamela needs to know that I used to back Pita somewhat until she came along…. She is a hipocrit and by her calling Jessica a whore and a bitch because of a shirt… "who is the whore" with hep c and 2…3…4…5.. marriages and a sex tape… Pita consider who you want to represent you… The world and humans come first not animals. I do not believe in cruely to animals by all means.. But you cant look down on a human for eating a steak.. Get a life…

  37. sam says – reply to this

they overreact with everything. i love animals BUT ITS A MOVIE!!!!!!!

  38. Jİll says – reply to this

even thought those scenes are not real still its effecting many minds. a kid can effect by it and when they playing, acting as batman they could try to hurt animals and stuff and lately ı realize almost every movie has scenes like that with animals ı mean wtf ı cant watch a whole movie without covering my eyes ffs they have to stop shooting scenes like this crap!

  39. jo says – reply to this

    439

FUCK PETA. what group of dumbass. ATTENTION HUNGRY ASSHOLES.

  40. Kate says – reply to this

    440

PETA overreacting. I'm a huge animal lover…but puh-lease, this is a MOVIE, it is not real. Animals were not really hurt.

  41. 441

    peta is ALWAYS overreacting.
    go save some fucking salmons.

  42. Jacki says – reply to this

    442

I have a Rottweiler and wasn't offended by the Dark Knight. I know the dogs weren't really hurt during the making of the movie. The only thing that sucks is uneducated people think Rottweilers are mean dogs. I'm so tired of people asking me if my dog is 'nice' or if he 'bites'. Would you ask someone with a Lab that question? Yeah my dog bites, that's why I brought him to the dog park…for dinner. Really? He's more like a 110lb lap dog that sleeps with his head on my pillow at night.

  43. mng says – reply to this

    443

TO hell with Peta! it's just a movie, leave it alone freaks!

  44. kyle says – reply to this

    444

Animal Man is the coolest character. Grant Morrison's Animal Man is one of the best runs ever.

  45. PA says – reply to this

    445

    PETA always, ALWAYS overreacts.

They're a big part of the reason people think animal activists are crazy. The other reason is that a lot of animal activists ARE crazy.

I work for a newspaper and every time we run a story about some animal being mistreated people flip out and write buttloads of letters about how horrible it is. By contrast, when someone's murdered, we might get one or two letters. That's horrible.

Look, I love animals. They're adorable and pure-hearted. But I value the lives of humans above those of pets.

  46. pitab says – reply to this

    446

So PETA is upset that batman hits a couple dogs…well batman also scrapes on a few humans in the movie, but no one is complaining about that. STFU PETA! If anything, you should be complaining about the human bashing. A dogs life will never be as important!

  47. kyom says – reply to this

    447

PETA, whatever… Christin Bale is a vegetarian for god sake, get over it

  48. Whitn says – reply to this

    448

PETA is completely obnoxious with their behavior. It's as if they have absolutely nothing better to do than look for the slightest reason to throw a fit and get more attention. There are plenty of animals actually being abused out there, why don't they go after those people doing the real harm, rather than the fiction??? PETA needs to eat a cheeseburger, pop a xanex, and calm the fuck down.

  49. Deeva says – reply to this

    449

okay so i support PETA an everything they stand for but at the end of the credits it says that non of the animals used in the movie where harmed it says there in cold letters.

  50. Ha. says – reply to this

    450

Re: m – If that is so then we should cut out every type of violence from films from any forms of media, even the news. If people are so impressionable news shouldn't even report violence because this might encourage people to copy such things…While we are at it, why stop at your typical violence? We don't want anyone watching a film on genocide now do we, some evil dictator might spawn from such filth…Why don't we just scrap media all together and live in a plastic bubble where nothing can touch us or influence us? Yet let us let the self righteous PETA walk around and give the lethal injection to the puppies who can't find a home, or so they say, because they don't have the damn incentive to just cut neuter animals.

    Heil PETA!

Oh don't foget, let them dig up graves of dead people to show those scientists who's boss!

  51. 451

Are you kidding me? No animals were actually hurt in the film, were they?

  52. CAROL says – reply to this

    452

    EAT A DICK PETA!!!!

  53. 453

I LOVED THE MOVIE..EVERY ULTRAVIOLENT MOMENT..BUT I COULDN'T STAND WHEN BATTIE MCBATSTER WAS PUNCHING THE ROTTIES..I KNOW ITS JUST ME, AND I'M IN THE MINORITY BUT WHEN ITS MANO A MANO FIGHTING THERE IS THAT WONDERFUL, SICK TESTOSTERONE DRIVEN MADNESS BUT THE POOR POOCHES ARE JUST CUTE TRAINED KILLING MACHINES… I THINK THEY DIDN'T NEED TO INCLUDE THEM

  54. Emili says – reply to this

    454

I think PETA is doing a great job! The dogs weren't hurt in real life, but the scene might encourage sick people to do the same!

  55. JeNNi says – reply to this

    455

dumb idiots…they dont hurt the dogs…..GO SAVE SOME REAL HORRIBLE THINGS HAPPENING LIKE PUPPY MILLS???????

  56. ZOMBI says – reply to this

    456

every PETA member needs to be torn apart by savage dogs…

  57. Palme says – reply to this

    457

PETA should go and get real jobs instead of yawing about banalities in a movie FFS. I have 4 dogs, 4 horse and 2 Falcons.I love animals and do NOT need PETA causing mayhem on their behalf.

  58. Angie says – reply to this

    458

Ok, did they both to read the credits at the end of the movie? "No Animals were harmed during the filming of this movie" GET A LIFE, seriously!

  59. Mimi says – reply to this

    459

This is bullshit! come on people its a movie. It's not like he was really hittin the dogs.. come on PETA grow some balls! and get over your self! (REAL GIRLS EAT MEAT) take that Pamela!

  60. Averi says – reply to this

    460

Oy, this is why no one respects PETA. Okay, PETA? It's a movie. Batman isn't real (sorry all!). He didn't actually hurt dogs. I agree with Kay — go get those people that hurt their actual pets.

  61. Mimi2 says – reply to this

    461

This is bullshit! come on dude its a fucking movie it's not like they were actual dogs he was hitting. PETA needs to grow some balls and get over it. REAL GIRLS EAT MEAT! ( HOW YOU LIKE THAT PAMELA!)

  62. Nurse says – reply to this

    462

Don't these PETA folks know that someone from the ASPCA is on hand at all film shoots where animals are being used to make sure that "no animals were harmed during the making of this film"? Surely there are enough real injustices being done to animals in the world that PETA can get involved in?

  63. dijhi says – reply to this

    463

Re: eliz. – There you have it. this is the perfect example of a typical PEREZ "kool aid" follower. What an absolute moron !

Yes…they actually kill dogs in movies…..its too hard to CGI them.

DUMBASS ! and fuck PETA they are hypocrits

  64. ME says – reply to this

    464

PETA can suck it! BTW, ever see that Penn & Teller segment on PETA? Brilliante!!!!

  65. hlots says – reply to this

    465

Oh for goodness sake! It's a friggin movie!!!!! They need to focus their efforts on some real life animal abuse instead of some of the shit (like this) they make such a big deal about!

  66. slut says – reply to this

    466

I am very fond of a lot of the work PETA has done but this is just ridiculous. I am an animal rights activist/vegan myself and I didn't mind that scene in the movie whatsoever. It's a fucking movie. It's not like he honestly hurt those dogs. Trainers on sets of movies are regulated by people that ensure the safety of those animals that are participating in films. PETA needs to focus on real acts of animal cruelity. I just think that want some publicity for this shit.

  67. Serio says – reply to this

    467

This is why no one takes PETA seriously.

We all know, the way movies are made today, none of those dogs suffered injury. I think I just sprained an eye rolling it…………..

  68. 468

It's computer animated not real!! PETA should only worry about real violence against animals and not computer generated minor story lines! No one is going to emmulate getting attacked by dogs and punching them away!

  69. SYR says – reply to this

    469

Wow, amazing the ignorance of the first like 10 comments (stopped reading after that). Especially the one who says she 'loves animals' but sees no problem with the visual representation of them harmed. Let's see, yes, we here in the US have humane codes against not hurting animals in films–codes that were only fairly recently put in place. But we live in a globalized world, including global media. When many countries mimic our movies, they don't have the same standards. Why create a character or a genre or a thematic trend (are these words too big for you all?) based on hurting the indefensible who got no choice about being there? Ideas and images, even when they are fictionalized, have an impact on culture and gullible identities, like all the wimps here who wouldn't stand up for a poor defenseless animal.

  70. beal says – reply to this

    470

It said at the end of the movie during the credits that the Humane Society was on site supervising so that no animals were harmed during the dog scenes.

  71. vanes says – reply to this

    471

FUK U TO THOSE WHO HATE PETA. YEAH THEY ARE REALLY OVER REACTING CUZ ITS JUST A MOVIE AND IM PRETTY SURE IT WAS ALL BULL SHIT BUT THEY DO HELP ABUSED ANIMALS EVERYWHERE. THEY ARE VOICE FOR ABUSED ANIMALS ALL AROUND US. I AGREE THEY OVER REACT AT TIMES BUT I TOTALLY SUPPORT THEIR CAUSE. STOP BEING JERKS PPL AND HELP SUPPORT INNOCENT ANIMALS ALL AROUND. AND PETA PLSE DONT OVER REACT OVER A MOVIE!!

  72. dicka says – reply to this

    472

Oh fer fuck sakes, PETA pisses me off. Just cause of that, Ima head outside and beat the living daylight out of my neighbors jack russell terrier… The Dark Knight style…

  73. Cindy says – reply to this

    473

    PETA's stupid.

  74. 474

PETA has got to be one of the most ridiculous associations. Its not like I advocate animal cruelty or anything but SERIOUSLY. They're throwing a fit over dog punching scenes??? I seriously doubt that the dogs were ACTUALLY getting punched…and don't even get me started on vegetarianism. If you're doing it for health reasons then good for you. If you're doing because you think you're doing some service to the poor cows…you're a freaking idiot.

  75. jess says – reply to this

    475

um seriously. did anyone notice all the "unfriendly" scenes involving humans?! hahaha. that's a joke. it's a movie, it's fake, get over it. people are so ridiculous today.

  76. mia says – reply to this

    476

as a rottweiler owner myself, I was kinda jealous. those dogs got to show off their impeccable training, get treated like kings, meet heath and christian, and the handlers made a good deal of money. I would've been happy to have my dog bark a little bit for a couple thousand dollars. I don't get why PETA is so upset about the welfare of CGI animations when the REAL dogs get to have fun doing their thing! who the hell cares about how a comic book character acts when a dog attacks it when it's not even real!

  77. Beth says – reply to this

    477

PETA could do a lot of good in the world if they could learn the difference between fact and fiction. It's a fucking MOVIE, PETA. A MOVIE. That means it was all FAKE. Guess what? Batman isn't real! Neither is the Easter Bunny! Now start caring about something that actually exists in our universe, huh?

  78. FUCK says – reply to this

    478

How nutty are these stupid fucks at peta?

  79. 479

I thought i'd never say this, but I actually agree with PETA. After this movie, I made a comment to my boyfriend that I could have done without the dog violence. I thought it was hard to watch and somewhat graphic. I understand it's just a movie but no animal lover likes to hear or see that!

  80. 480

PETA needs to remove head from ass. or dog's ass. get over it

  81. prome says – reply to this

    481

    Brilliant move by PETA.

"Let's complain about the batman movie and get some publicity for our cause!"

"But doesn't doing that undermine our cause? Doesn't that make us as much of an asshole as the bad guys?"

"No, it doesn't. And who gives a shit, anyway? I've got bills to pay. I'm/we're just going with the flow and using the system to our advantage. This whole PETA thing is the perfect cash cow!"

  82. Kay says – reply to this

    482

Ugh, why don't PETA ever STFU!! This is just ridiculous, I am an animal lover just as they are but anyone with some COMMON SENSE would realize that this is a MOVIE and I don't believe that they would have ANY ANIMALS HARM IN THE PROCESS of making it!!!

  83. Kayce says – reply to this

    483

I think the real question is:

    When does PETA NOT overreact?

I'm a big animal rights supporter but I think not allowing Batman to punch a dog is as stupid as digitally erasing cigarettes from a film. Just stupid.

  84. howie says – reply to this

    484

WTF! PETA needs to take a chill pill and go have a nice juicy rare steak someplace…It may have a calming effect.

  85. qwert says – reply to this

    485

I was squeamish about that scene, too.
    Figures!
Blow hundreds of people away with machine gun fire… fine.
Punch a raging Rottweiler in the face, now that's gone to far!

But, I think Batman responded in the same way anyone else would.

  86. sophr says – reply to this

    486

shut the fuck up PETA. you're the real dogs here you pieces of shit. STOP OVERREACTING!!!! IT'S A MOVIE!!! NO ANIMALS WERE REALLY HARMED!!!

  87. bxchi says – reply to this

    487

I can understand and see the point that PETA is trying to make, and i do agree that sometimes things like hitting animals in tv and movies is unnecessary but i do believe that PETA overreacts alot!, honestly there are worst things to worry about then what is shown in the media. I support PETA in some things but this is just ridiculous. It was self-defense, If they had a pack of trained killers after them they would use everything in thier defense to get away from those dogs including injuring or killing them. I would never harm and animal unless I was under attack. Interesting how they had no problem over the human bloodshed……..

I am an owner of a very loving Rottweiler and I did not find offense with the scenes at all. First of all, no dogs were harmed in the filming. The Humane Society has a representative at every scene of a movie/television show that involves any type of animal to ensure the safety of the animal and to give approval of a finished scene. NO harm came to those dogs. It's all special effects. PETA needs to stop worring about fictional movies and start worrying about the abuse of animals that goes on every single day by "supposed owners."

LOOK THESE DAMN TREE HUGERS NEED TO GO BUY SOME BIG ASS DILDOS SHOVE THEM UP SOME DOGS ASSES AND JUMP INFRONT OF HUNTERS TO GET SHOT. THESE PEOPLE ARE SO GOD DAMN FUCKING RETARDED. ALL THEY DO IS MOPE AROUND TALKING ABOUT HOW ANIMALS GET TREATED. FUCK THAT. THERE ARE SO MANY MORE THINGS WRONG GOING ON IN THIS WORLD TO WORRY ABOUT A DOG THAT WASNT EVEN HURT IN A MOVIE TO GO AND MAKE A SCANDAL. HOW BOUT WE GO THROW THERE ASSES INFRONT OF A TRAIN AND ASK THEM IF THE SCENE IN BATMAN WHERE THEY PUNCH A DOG IS WORTH LOOSING THERE LIFE, BET THEYLL CHANGE THERE MIND QUICK AS SHIT. . THEY ARE A BUNCH OF FUCKTERD WHO NEED A BOTTLE OF HYPNOTIC AND A NIGHT OF HOT DIRTY SEX!

    I LOVE PEREZ.

I'd like to punch PETA members out left and right. I'm all for the ethical treatment of animals, but this is FANTASY!! I think they are delusional and need to learn the difference between real and fiction. People hurt PEOPLE in movies (and regardless of what Pam Anderson might think, people matter more than animals) and nobody says shit! But they can't SIMULATE punching out a frickin DOG??? What is this world coming to???
