Being an emo kid could be illegal in Russia soon!
The government is trying to pass a laws that would heavily regulate emo websites and ban emo and goth dress style in schools and government buildings.
The new laws are apparently being driven by fears that "emo" encourages depression and suicide.
There were mass protests by Russian emo kids this past weekend.
Dmitry Gilevich of Russian emo band MAIO said at a protest, "Expressing psychological emotions is not forbidden by law."
Poor emo kids!

It's easier to stereotype / censor clothing and music than to take time for proper diagnosis of self-destructive behavior. American parents have done it for decades. Unless Gerard Way now sings in Russian and has decided to embrace a genre of which he denies membership, depicting him as the culprit seems a bit misleading. Though you probably posted the pic ’cause he's very photogenic, I'd like to see what a Russian emo band wears that's considered so harmful. ;>
