MTV is remaking The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The two-hour remake will use the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien but may also include music not featured in the original.
Casting decisions have yet to be finalized.

That will bomb! Serious why redo something that was done perfectly. It wasn't the movie but the actors in it. Is Tim Curry and Meatlof,Susan surlandon coming back- doubt it.

Any kind of remakes that tries to modernize RHPS will set off a trigger in all crazed RHPS fan to find their leader, Franknfurter and set to create an Army of Rockys. All electric carvers will vanish from stores. Watch out, MTV.
MTV hasn't really been viable since the mid-80s. They lost their mojo when they lost the 24 hour music idea. I believe remaking RHPS will most likely just be another nail in their coffin.

MTV is owned by the money hungry Viperous-VIACOM. Of course they will rape a classic any old time just to squeeze out one more dollar. We can all rest assured that the attempt to remake "Rocky Horror" is guaranteed to be a flop.
This brings me to a question: For such an innovative, forward-thinking network, is there no creativity left at MTV anymore? The last time they had talent and came up with an original idea was during the heyday of the late Mary-Ellis Bunim, creator of "Real World" and so many other wonderful MTV "video-related" programs.
Today, MTV continues to regurgitate Bunim's concept of reality-based television to the point that the station simply doesn't show videos anymore. After years of being stagnant, MTV has pigeon-holed itself in a tank of no creativity, which means less viewers.
No wonder Viacom/MTV is suing GOOGLE. Not only does the VIPER want more dollars, but they probably smell the stink of their own programs and realize that the public would rather go to YOUTUBE and see a video rather than be "commercialed" to death waiting to see the video crumbs that THEY throw us.

I get what everyone is saying, but the great thing about rocky is how awful it is. I feel like the remake is going to be unintentionally awful in a way that may end up being great. MTV has lost its sense of musical variety. Every blue moon, they will attempt to play a video…. everything is all about the commercials, the money-making hits all served up in heavy nauseating rotation.
What happened to the MTV that used to connect to viewers of "ALL AGES" and point the way to cool ideas and fresh new artists? For the past 10 years, the station has been on AUTO PILOT.
The only feather that MTV has in its cap is the "Video Music Awards" — sadly, event that is getting stale each year. (Thank God for Kid Rock and Kanye showing their asses…. otherwise, it would have been a YAWN). The VMAs are the only time when the masses tune-in to see concerts that highlight the videos that MTV doesn't play.
It's all about reality tv, which writes itself —- (that is) —– with a little help of a carefully laid manipulation tactics to stoke the fires and stir the bees. Wrap up all the chaos that develops and we've got a shiny new package of entertainment.
REMAKING RHPS only confirms the lack of talent of those in charge and shows MTVs complete disconnect to the public. Whoever thought that this music giant would fall so low.

The music is only part of what made RHPS great. It was the casting, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as Janet and Brad, Meatloaf as Eddie, Richard O'Brien as Riff Raff, not to mention Magenta and Columbina (forgot the names of the Actresses). But for me personally it was Tim Curry as Dr. Frank-n-Furter. It doesn't get any better than the scene where he's stomping his foot in the elevator, and Janet screams as he turns…"How do you all!" Just a sweeeeeeeeet transvestite from Transexual. Can't replace Tim Curry…EVER!!!!
