Could this be true?
Could the couple that used to say they didn't care to conceive naturally and would rather adopt have done this?
According to US Weekly, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt conceived their new twins, Vivienne and Knox, through in-vitro fertilization.
That kinda makes sense. Angie was looking WAY TOO SKINNY to have gotten pregnant naturally last year. We've always suspected Nicole Richie used IVF too.
A source says, "They conceived through in vitro fertilization. They both desperately wanted more babies soon."
Well that would explain why Jolie had twins, since multiples are usually a side effect of IVF.
According to Dr. Arthur Wisot of L.A.'s Reproductive Medical Group, the chance of having fraternal twins at Angelina's age naturally, she's 33, is under 1%. But with in-vitro the chances become 25%.
Dr. Wisot says, "We live in an era of reproductive freedom, so anybody can do anything they want within legal limits."
A source says Angelina chose the procedure so "she wouldn't have to deal with the stress of trying to get pregnant. She could just knock it out."
What stress? Don't people like to get pregnant by having lots of sex?

give me a break - there is no way that undergoing IVF treatment is less stressful than just having lots of sex. Injecting yourself daily with hormones for weeks on end and being monitored daily for blood work and ultrasounds is a major endeavour.
Besides - what difference does it make if they did in vitro or not? Really? What does it matter?
She has said before that she took something to help her ovulate - which can lead to more than one egg being released. There is no way she did in-vitro, and being skinny has nothing to do with how a baby was conceived. Nicole Richie had in-vitro with a guy she was seeing for a month? Hmm…doubtful…more likely drunken-drug induced sex (ya know, the old fashioned way)

Not true, women are more likely to have twins as they get older. Being skinny doesn't contribute to whether or not you could conceive. IVF usually makes people fat from all the hormones pumped into their system. Your theory is a wild shot in the dark.

I'm an OB nurse and I will tell you the above story is baloney. Many people conceive twins late into their thirties. They BOTH have twins in their family. And as for her being skinny, she always has been. Whoever writes for US Weekly has too much time on his or her hands. They are known to be unreliable so why does anyone believe their stories?????

This is the stupied and so untrue. Anyone who has underwent IVF knows that it is the most painful and stressful procedure you can undergo. I went through 5 rounds of IVF and I am the first to tell you that you gain loads of weight and it was the most stressfull process I have ever been through. This story just pisses me off.

um…well…DUH! i didn't need US Weekly to clue me in. as soon as it was announced that she was preggers with twins, it was kind've obvious. she's 70 pounds and 5'9'. by "stress" of getting pregnant, did that mean that she would actually have to eat something and be healthy enough to conceive naturally. i really don't try to go out of my way to dislike angelina bc of her goodwill work, but things like this is what really annoys me about her. she claims that she wants to adopt more opposed to having another baby and makes fun of her bio daughter by calling her privileged and a blob, but then goes through in vitro to keep her man and to make the press go ape-sh*t at how miraculous she is. it's KIND of manipulative, and for people who need US weekly report that is ridiculous.

He wasn't saying that she looked too thin during the pregnancy to have done it naturally; she was too thin before she got pregnant to have conceived naturally in the first place. Body fat in females triggers estrogen and other hormones. Women with really low body fat percentages often have screwed up hormones and don't mentstruate regularly or even stop ovulating altogether. It's a very well-known fact. A lot of hard-core athletes don't menstruate at all. So if she was scary-skinny and had no body fat, it would be harder (not impossible of course) to get pregnant naturally. Perez is (shockingly) right about this. And for the other idiots out there- Brad's family has zero to do with their chances of conceiving fraternal twins. It's carried on the mother's side. Think about what causes it- double ovulation. Two eggs being released in the mother. What the hell would Brad's DNA or anything in his sperm have to do with Angelina's body ovulating multiple eggs? Think about it!

Being too thin/too fat, smoking, being stressed, eating unhealthy ALL decrease chances of getting pregnant. Even drinking bottled water out of plastic bottles has been shown to decrease fertility.

But what she didn't say was that she might have taken Clomid to increase production of eggs or had a different medical intervention. It's pretty obvious they didn't have the twins randomly or naturally without medical help. Why they don't say that is beyond me. I guess it makes them seem 'human'. OMG!
When I got pregnant with twins at 36 (Naturally) my doctor told me that twins, especially fraternal twisn were more common after the age of thirty.

It's so funny that people think it isn't possible that they would do such a thing. There was a picture of her leaving an IVF place months before she got pregnant. Then, lo and behold, she gets pregnant with twins. She orchestrates her image more than people realize. Perez, you can be a real dumbo. "Really skinny" women get pregnant every day. More often, obese women have greater fertility issues than underweight women. It's a fact.
Having been through IVF twice, I doubt it is something fertile women (such as Angelina/Shiloh) would just opt to do for the sake of conceiving quickly. Success rates for IVF are not any better than a normally fertile woman just doing the deed with her partner. And undergoing IVF is not like going to the doctor's office to get a botox injection. You just sound really uninformed.

Whereas, if they did it the 'old fashioned way', they wouldn't be guaranteed that twins would happen. Makes perfect sense to me, to get what you want - when you want. Brad's not getting any younger and has stated that they want these kids sooner rather than later.

That is the stupidest thing I've ever heard! First of all, being skinny early in your pregnancy and going through invitro have nothing in common. Hello, Ange & Nicole were skinny to begin with, so of course they were skinny for MONTHS into their pregnancies. And secondly, invitro is a lot more stressful than just having sex. And so much more painful and invasive. This story is complete rubbish!
I am a mom of twin boys that I conceived naturally at the age of 27. No fertility drugs… nothing. In fact I wasn't even trying. I beleive your stats are off Perez, because if their is a history of twins on Angelina's side (and this can be from either Ang's mom's family or Ang's Dad's family) then the chances of her having twins increases greatly. As someone gets older the chances of twins also increase and 33 years old really is considered in the higher ages when having babies. I am not saying its old bcause I plan on having more and I am 32. I don't beleive this at all! Obviously she doesn't have a problem getting pregnant- Shiloh.

Re: karen – Only identical twins can stem from the fathers side. Two different sexes are not identical, that means Angelina had 2 seperate eggs, no matter how powerfull Brads sperm was he could't have made that happen.

It's very common for an IVF patient to conceive more than two babies. In most cases, the doctor will suggest you to abort some. I've know two people that had IVF and in both cases, they were carry 5 & 6 babies before aborting all but two.
I have no doubt that Jolie-Pitt probably picked the two.

This is total bullshit. First of all, IVF is VERY stressful. It's hard on your body, the process of extracting eggs is painful, and it's a very emotional process. I HIGHLY doubt that anyone who could get pregnant on their own would willingly go through it, especially not Nicole Richie, who clearly was not trying to get pregnant - that's just absurd.
Second, getting pregnant isn't that easy for anyone. I'm one of those people who has been trying for years and has been unsuccessful. It CAN BE very stressful for a lot of people.
It is true, the odds of her and, oh, so many superskinny celeb having twins is almost null. Of course, these were artificially conceived. No question about it.

Sorry Shann, but you are incorrect. I know because I had fraternal twin boys. Identical twins are not heriditary… neither on the moms or dad's side. Identical twins are purely just by chance… its when one egg divides. Having a greater chance of having fraternal twins can be heriditary if someone on the MOMS side only had twins in their family. Now it can be on her fathers side or her mothers side. Men can pass the trait down to their daughter, but if my husband has lots of twins in his family. My chance of having twins is no greater than anyone else, but he could easily pass this trait on to his daughter if he had one, then SHE would have a greater chance of having twins. For example, my dad's mom (my grandmother) was a twin. My mom didn't have a greater chance of having twins, but my dad passed the trait on to me.

I am going through my second round of IVF. When I heard that JLo, Julia Roberts, Angelina & many others were expecting twins, I thought…IVF or IUI. If you are going through IUI (Jon & Kate +
, then you don't know how many eggs will come from the follicules. However, IVF is a bit more controlled. The doctors usually only put 2 blastocysts back into the uterus. If you only have two embryos placed back in, your odds of having twins go up. However, most people will have singleton births. I could see how Hollywood resorts to this due to "SKINNY" women, advanced age, and more "control" as to when they can get pregnant. It does cost a lot of money, and it is the MOST STRESSFUL time in your life, but I figure if I could do it…anyone can. THE ONLY people that have admitted to having IVF are : Brooke Shields, Marcia Cross, and Cindy Margolis. I'm sooooooooo happy they shared this because it makes many of us going through it feel so much more "normal". As for cost, many insurance companies in certain states have mandates that cover 4 IVF cycles for a lifetime. This means that there are very little out of pocket expenses. The truth is that infertility is on the rise! It is an epidemic. Honestly, you would be surprised how many people go through IUI or IVF. It is amazing…and alarming at the same time.

I think that having mixed fraternal twins is such a blessing. Identical twins are cool but they will never really be their own person. With a boy and a girl they have the freedom to be who they are but at the same time have that unbreakable bond that comes with sharing a womb.

As for them, the have millions and millions of dollars. That tends to speak higher to the RE's (Fertility Doctors), and plus IVF is more controlled. Using injectible drugs + IUI is when you get those "litters" of babies. With IVF they just put back 1, 2, or 3 embryos/blastocysts, with the majority being 2.
Also kiddies, there is such a thing as SECONDARY INFERTILTY. Just because you conceive one baby effortlessly, doesn't mean you are guaranteed the same route the next time. Sperm counts fluctuate and so can ovulation. I'd say a good 60% of the ladies on infertility forums are already mothers. You can't always assume.
Also, i remember back a few years ago when Julia Roberts announced she was pregnant with gorl/boy twins at 9 weeks. The ONLY way you can find out the sex that early is by doing IVF w/ PGD (Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis). I don't believe any Hollywood twins are naturally conceived.

I am so glad someone finally spoke up about this!!! Thes ewomen are waiting too long & are also to skinny to become preggos naturally-finally you let the cat out of the bag!!! J lo did this also. It is disgusting if you cant eat healthy and have enough natural fat on your body to get preggos you should not be having kids!! I just saw Angies movie Wanted and she looked so skinny it was disgusting. How sad for young girls who have to watch that stuff.

Perez, come on….I doubt Nicole Richie used IVF…actually, IVF is much harder to concieve than sex. You have to plan it out and it's twice as stressful- not to mention all the hormones and pills you have to take before hand.
I sincerely doubt they used IVF.

There are people who what nothing more in this world than to have children but cannot. Some women cant get pregnant, some men cant give thier partner a baby, and then theres gay couples who in some places, cant even adopt. Those are REAL desperate people. Brad and Angelina already had four kids, why would they be desperate?
Heres an idea for them, actually fall in love with each other and grow your family out through the years. If thier too old then keep adopting. But it dos'nt matter, they wont be together for much longer, there each others arm-candy/trophy. So not only is it selfish that they want MORE children, but its selfish that thier creating such a huge family that soon enough will be broken up because they dont love one another. Any idiot can tell they are not in love.

because if you shop for a doctor, you can always find one who will perform certain procedures, especially overseas! remember, every country doesn't have the laws and procedures that USA does.
