I'm a Belgian musicblogger and i've had the chance to meet and chat with Kate Ryan a few times and all the people who think she cannot sing and is a diva: you do not even know her! I hope people also start spreading those nasty things about you without even knowing you!
In fact she isn't a cover-artist: she already released 4 full albums and from the like, 50 songs she has, there are like 5 covers. But those covers always become big hits in Europe, the own written songs don't get that far and normally become hits just in Belgium. She also has a lot of talent, she can play the guitar and the piano and shows up with a live band! Search google for some acoustic versions of "Voyage Voyage" and you'll hear she really can sing. There's far more worse in the musicindustry!
She also was the Belgian entree for the Eurovisionsongcontest in 2006 with "Je t'adore". It didn't win, but was the long time favourite.
She's the best selling Belgian artist in Europe. I'm a proud Belgian!

The people I know here in Germany, never listen to any sort of "Europop" but to entirely DIFFERENT styles of music! For example, punk rock (Green DAy, Linkin Parrk, Die Toten Hosen, Aerzte, new UK rock bands, swing from the 20s and 30s, and, ot course, the younger lower-class Germans and immigrants here listen to trashy U.S.

As a Belgian (Flemming actually) I know Kate Ryan, and her music, already for years. She has wunderful songs, but of course also a few remakes, like this one. But she gives het own feeling to all the songs.
And no, she is not a slut, this is just 1 picture of her. You don't even know her.
She has very difficult years behind her (her disease, her mother's death …), but still she knows how to create good music and to stay our 'girl next door'.
