If she is correct, and her ex really did vengefully pull strings and killed her ability to garner future earnings from her book deal, then she needs to sue the person who extended the deal and then rescinded it just as quickly for breach of contract if she can back it up. Her ex's meddling could come out in court if it existed, but good luck with that, as they have all turned into clams. Next time don't allegedly blurt your book's good fortune to your ex in a vicious spat before the fact, and then he can't take steps to undo it just for fun.
