The sad yet inevitable has happened.
Randy Pausch has passed away.
The former professor at Carnegie Mellon was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and became an Internet sensation after his inspirational Last Lecture became viral on YouTube.
Pausch subsequently appeared on Oprah and his Last Lecture was recently turned into a book.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and children, whom he dedicated his moving speech to.

Perez, thanks for the post on this. Pausch was truly someone who used his circumstances to help others instead of wallowing in self pity. What he has done is amazing.
Very, very sad. He was an amazingly inspirational and motivational person. I wonder if he and his family even comprehended how many lives he touched.
he was truly a great professor. he inspired me so much through his words and the things he believed in but especially the life he lived up until his death. his couragousness of not fearing death up to him waiting until he actually look sick to tell his children that he was so that he keep things normal for them for as long as possible. great man. great professor. great human being/ god bless his family and the people he touched through the years he lived.

truly truly truly saddened by this news. when i saw it, i felt like a ton of bricks had hit me, and i don't even know him. i have seen his last lecture many many times and it always gets me crying. the love he had for his family is astonishing and it truly breaks my heart that such a great man had to pass.

Randy's lecture and book made a profound impact on my life. I will forever be grateful and thankful that he took the time to relay his thoughts to his children, and by proxy to all of us. this guy was a rock star for so many reasons. God Bless him for sharing what he learned in his life. It made those that want to learn and grow become better people.
Thanks for letting us know Perez. Have read his book twice, bought it and followed his site but hadn't been in for a while. He had fought this disease for over TWO years not one… They had another child after the diagnosis. That in itself is a miracle. Despite chemo, my Mom only lasted 4 months at age just 50 with it [49 when she got it].The average prognosis was 4 to 6 months. Which leads to Patrick Swaze who looked rather healthy in photos this weak despite being thin. Cancer is horrible to watch one die from, pancreatic, the worst…. I pray for his wife and three small children and hope he's in a better place. He was one courageous man and everyone should purchase his little book "THE LAST LECTURE.' RIP Mr. Pausch……..marci.Ct.

I am happy to say that it is only because of PEREZ that I discovered his Last Lecture! Saw it here and immediately watched the entire one-hour talk on YouTube. It was really moving.
Randy is a man who can be celebrated in death for the way he fully lived his life.

His widow and children will certainly benefit from his "last lecture". His illness gave him just enough time to make a lot of $$$$$. Americans are full of admiration for people who know how to make money, even when talking about their own death. Sick !
i'm 17, 16 when i heard his speech. my philosophy teacher decided to play his last lecture in class. and it has changed the way i think. this news had made me cry not only beause he has died but for his wife and kids. this man was an insperational person and has changed many lives.

I'm very sad to read this news. My thoughts are with his family. His speach was very touching .
Some of us actually knew Randy and while he had grown into an amazing man, I will always remember his efforts in the school play or on the chess team or the time he spent in my kitchen arguing with my brother.
Randy's death leaves a lonesome place against the sky.
I just watched his "Last Lecture" and cried like a baby. He really was an inspiration. RIP. My thoughts are with his wife and kids.

Randy was a true inspiration to me and so many others. I feel for his family during their loss. I just lost my little brother to cancer on July 6. Even when you know it's coming, it really doesn't make it any easier. Randy, you will always be remembered. Hopefully you and my brother can hang out up there! God bless you.

I just graduated from Carnegie Mellon and he talked at our graduation about how much he loved his wife and it was adorable, at the end he picked her up and carried her offstage, I was so sad to hear the news! RIP
Randy Pausch played a sad, but tremendous part in raising awareness about pancreatic cancer. Research on pancreatic cancer is where breast cancer research was in the 1930s. Pathetic.

MY TEACHER SHOWED OUR GRADUATING CLASS ON THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL(BEFORE WE ALL LEFT FOR THE SUMMER AND WENT ON TO COLLEGE). IT INSPIRED ME,AND A LOT OF PEEPS IN OUR CLASS.SOME OF US WERE IN TEARS,AND EVEN MYSELF. OUR TEACHER TOLD US THE REASON HE SHOWED US THE VID WAS BECAUSE HE WANTED TO GIVE US THE MESSAGE OF HOW WE SHOULD KEEP LIVING LIFE TO THE FULLEST AND NEVER GIVE UP. IT WAS TRULY INSPIRING AND UNFORGETTABLE.

He was a smart strong man who knew how to live life wisely. Knowing that his last days were to come I'm sure he spent it with his family. I'm sad but I know he lived his life to the fullest doing everything and anything that life (vida) has to offer.
