Number one, no they do not get food stamps or welfare. Two, they both are licensed real estate agents, hence their income. Third, they live completely debt-free, beholden to no one. I myself would not have the stamina for 18 children; I almost bled to death having my fourth and final child. But if that's what the family wants, then kudos to them. You should come to Michigan. This isn't uncommon at all. There is a certain religious group who encourage their members to have as many children as possible, most have over 10 kids each. We live in a world where there is obvious overcrowding, and this couple lives on a huge farm with no other house around. They've got a 7000 sq. ft. house with an industrial sized kitchen. They apparently have nothing better to do than lay in bed and have babies all the time. I would seriously be embarrassed if I were part of this family!

I suppose if they can feed them, clothe them, and educate them then its ok. At least their kids aren't growing up in ghettos and doing drugs by the age of 10! I watched the show about them on TLC and couldn't believe how regimented they are. The parents don't really raise the kids…that responsibility is left to the older kids. The parents just make/pop the babies out, its the older siblings that do all of the child rearing and chores.

I don't think it's possible to bond with 18 children. There are only 24 hours in a day… spend 6 hours sleeping… That leaves less than an hour per child per day once you subtract potty breaks, and a shower… unless they all shower together. Having older siblings raise the little ones is just wrong, because when do they have time to enjoy their childhood if they are saddled with parental like responsibilites. I think this is the most sinister form of child abuse that the parents justify with bits and pieces of the bible. Completely twisted, and SICK! The poor kids probably don't even know that they have jipped out of life. Sad.
