Mark McGrath is OUT as the host of TV's Extra.
The rocker turned celeb news show host is being replaced by none other than Mario Lopez.
Shit, Slater has probably been campaigning for the job since he joined Extra part-time in 2007.
When the show returns for its 15th season next month, co-host Dayna Devon is also getting a DEMOTION - she will remain on as "a special correspondent."
Lots of changes being made!
A rep for the show says, "[Mario Lopez] has established himself as a highly engaging, likeable and sought-after host and personality."
Hey, at least McGrath can fall back on his band, Sugar Ray.
Too bad no one cares about that band anymore!

This is really too bad. I really like Mark McGrath and Dayna Devon and think they do a really good job. I guess I won't be watching EXTRA anymore, because I can't stand Mario Lopez. He is soooooooooo overrated and full of himself. He makes me sick. He does not deserve this job. I hope Mark and Dayna move on to bigger and better things.

Who f'ing cares about the Extra job…Mark McGrath and the
rest of the band just participated in a benefit concert over the
weekend and at House of Blues in Anaheim…and if you'd known that…I would have hoped that you would have reported on that GOOD news , not this news.
This was a "Very Important benefit concert" and Sugar Ray was out supporting it over the weekend. Please do not tear apart someone who has a heart of gold beyond words!!!
I truly hope you do go look into what I am speaking about…and I truly hope you get the word out about this important sitaution.

I feel for Mark McGrath, and think that the Extra executives are vultures, but I also can't help but wonder whose spot McGrath stole when he first went to work on Extra? I imagine it was some older person who was doing a good job that they gave the boot to give Mark the job. If you're going to work in a shark tank, you have to expect things like this.

Lopez suffers from typical overexposure. He was such a nice surprise on Dancing With the Stars that he forgot that less is more. If he would ration himself out, the public wouldn't have already turned on him. Hilton suffered from the same phenomenon. This job was a too-easy ferry ride to the bank for McGrath. Always thought it was odd that Mark took this job but I LOVE HIM. He's one of the nicest, down to earth celebs I've met. I knew Mario was out for the job when he signed on in Jan 07…I'm only surprised it took so long.

I moved back to the U.S. after practicing health care in Singapore. I had never even heard of Mark McGrath and his band, but I had heard of Mario. After watching Extra on my new , clearer TV, I wondered why they had even used Mark as host. Dayna always outclassed him. He is not an upfront pretty guy. He looks like a teenager with virtually no neck–his head appears to sit right on his shoulders. He also needs a stylist. Maybe someone can stretch him and suit him up with some new duds–too bad he's going to have to beg for a job.
After I scrolled down to look at comments others have made, I feel nauseated thinking about the fact that I wanted to write something here. I get the impression that most of the people here have a very limited and lewd repertoire of words. Hey folks, spend more time reading books and learning to write English compositions instead of filling your heads with smut.
