It looks like the Duggar family has some fierce competition!
Canadians Alexandru and Livia Ionce just welcomed baby number 18, a little girl named Abigail, to the world a few days ago.
Alexandru, 51, and Livia, 44, are Romanian immigrants who settled in Canada in 1990
They reportedly never planned how many children they would have when they got married 24 years ago.
Eighteen babies later, they still prefer to leave it in "God's hands," said Alexandru.
The other 17 kids range in age from 23 years to 23 months - nine girls and eight boys.
None are twins and all were born naturally, except four-year-old Filip, who was born by C-section.
Wonder if Momma Ionce is done with the baby making?
If we were in her shoes we would have been at least a dozen babies ago!!!

the Duggars, recently announced that they are expecting YET ANOTHER BABY in January I believe. Yes, she's preggers again and 'thankful to the Lord.' Wish I could remember when the show starts up its new season as the oldest son also has some big news. Perhaps, he will be marrying and carrying on the family tradition of mass production. For so many kids, they certainly live a good life with a beautiful home that they all but built entirely themselves… Won't this be # 18 for them unless of course the baby turns out to be her 3rd. set of twins…?
Best show on Discovery Health is 'Jon & Kate + 8… one set of twins and sextuplets, 3 girls, 3 boys who are 4… twins 6 or 7. The show is so real as they even show arguments and Kate loves to hit Jon on the leg during the sit down talk part. They are a hoot!am addicted to that show and Aiden is my buddy too… [no,don't know them]

Breeders (and ENORMOUS) hypocrites like this make me sick! I love children but, bringing an enless amount of children into the world is financially and socially irresponsible. And I love it that freaks like this ALWAYS claim that they never "meant" to have this many kids, yet, in the same sentence say that they were going to "leave it in God's hands". Well obviously these folks are very sexually uneducated, it is way to easy to prevent pregnancy from happening if you don't want it. So, make up your FUCKING minds!

I would say they are done, she's 44. The chances of her having another child naturally are very slim to none. Michelle Duggar will beat her, she's only 42 with #18 on the way, and she'll probably have one or two more. She does have some fierce competition from Angelina. I bet she pops out triplets next.

It's THEIR eighteen kids who will be paying your Old Age Pensions as our population falls due to people who have no time for raising children between bouts of amusing themselves that will require medication in their old age. Granted, that many is over the top for most, but I don't see them complaining. Be thankful that Canadians are not limited to one child like some other countries.

Racist!! This is a damm shame- In Oxnard i grew up with three families all black one family had 19 children and two identicle twin sisters had 18 kids each. All they got is the local paper. I have a hispanic friend who friend who is one of 22 children his mom got no press at all. All kids are living and mom and dad are still together

This family should be held up as an example of what we need to do in the WEstern world if we want to maintain our standards of living. The West has seen population growth falter, to the point where just about every industrialized country out there is seeing a massive demographic shift towards and older population. With that is coming increases stresses on health care and other services as governments face paying directly or indirectly much more, but with an increasingly shrinking work force to pay for it all.
While I don't recommend anyone have eighteen children, I think if the average went up to three or four kids we'd be in considerably better shape in the long term. I happen to live in the same city as this family, and they are one of the nicest families I've met. They are NOT freaks. They are genuinely good people, and live a life that most of the comment-ers here would look down upon.

FYI for my American friends - Health Care is not 'free' in Canada. In my province, Current premium rates are: Single rate - $44 per month ($528 annually); Family rate - $88 per month ($1056 annually) Each person or family pays this yearly rate. Everyone is covered, as premiums paid by the majority of people who don't require care covers the care of the segment of the population who happen to get ill and need it at any given time. For most people, the window of lifetime illness is short in contrast to the window of years of productiveness. People with chronic problems who drain the system are countered by the vigorous and healthy who never get sick. As costs increase, the premiums probably will, but they are not raising them for 2009.

Canadian Health Care is also partially government subsidized to keep it manageable for families above and beyond the premiums paid by families. The Federal Budget available from income taxes allocates a percentage of the federal budget to health care. It comes down to what your government prioritizes in its pie chart for federal spending. Canada currently has the lowest debt burden of all the G7 countries.

most women who follow the quiver-full idea are intelligent enough to make sure it's ok with their doctors. they (and their husbands) are fully aware of medical risks but they keep having kids because their doctors say they're doing fine. as long as they're financially stable, can provide a loving and attentive home, and aren't risking the mother's or the baby's life, they are completely ok to continue having children as long as their body is up to it.
I'm sorry but I find this a little gross and disturbing. How is having 18 kids even physically possible?

Hey. I'm 52 years old, and in the late 50's and 60's most families had over four kids, many 8 or 9, and quite a few had double digits. The pill didn't become commonplace until the late 60's, early 70's. You're only shocked because you've rarely seen it. My mom was from 9 kids, and my dad was from seven. They both spoke of families they knew with numbers in the high teens. Don't bust a nut; it's rare, and will probably stay rare. These two couples aren't responsible for the world's ills. Their kids will add to a dwindling tax base in a country with room for more.

They are entittled to have as many babies as they want. As long as they love them and can take care of them. These 18 children will be better than the 17 babies born to the Glouster high school teenagers.

Honey if you're so smart you should know that the Romanians need a visa if they want to travel to Canada. This visa can be obtained only if you are an fluent english/french speaker and if you have some important studies, so i don't think that the members of Ionce family are a bunch of illiterates.
