OMG!

An earthquake just hit us in Los Angeles before noon Pacific time!

Thankfully, it doesn't seem like it was HUGE, but it was pretty damn big.

That was our first earthquake we've experienced in California.

And it was scary!

Update: It was a 5.8. The epicenter was in Chino.

That's big!

    I was working in my garden in Covina and all the trees started shaking like crazy and I thought a plane or something had crashed into the yard. When I went inside the house everything from my shelves was on the floor.

    i've been in cali for like 6 years now and i've never felt an earthquake. of course i'm in norcal so we don't get all the fun. i'm used to tornados and fun stuff like that. i wanna feel one!

    Felt it hard in El Cajon too, 8 miles east of San Diego, and 30 miles from Mexico border. Perez, to give you more peace of mind have water, flashlight, snack stuff, change of clothes and all valuables all in a place to run out the door or in the trunk of your car. Welcome to Cali!

    Felt it in westwood. It was definitely a roller that went on and on…nothing feel off a shelf or anything though. Whew, glad it's over.

    Uh, when P-Nasty wrote "OUR first eathquake, WE experienced.." he meant himself, Teddy and whomever else is there (his mama?) and not Californians.

    my dad called me and let me know that there was an earthquake. im from AZ, and if that quake was big, we would have felt it from here also. i mean, if nevada felt it, we would have felt it also. im glad that everything is ok.

    For sure felt it in Pasadena, CA…lasted about 20 seconds…started with a rumble then a jolt then gliding back and forth for a while. I'm just glad there was no major damage and everyone is safe.

    So they keep changing how big it was. First it was 5.6, then 5.8, now the USGS site is reporting it as 5.4.

    But yeah, we did feel the quake all the way in Hemet

    i was in covina when it happened and it was MIGHTY STRONG with a long rolling motion. all the shelves at work collapsed, doors were swinging and windows cracked. perez, what you felt was nothing…lucky for you!

    In Riverside here. It was a big one. Knocked some of my stuff off the walls and phone service was out for awhile. I had to grab the kids and run for a doorway. First big one we've had in awhile.

    The U.S. Geological Survey has it as a 5.4 quake, not a 5.8. Video footage to come, no doubt. Hang on!

    I work and live in Santa Clarita- about 30 45 min north of Chino right by Magic Mountain and felt it, big time! I was sitting in my chair at work and was riding out the first part, thought it was gonna stop and it kept going. It brings me back to 1993 when the big Northridge quake happened. Unfortuantly its a familar feeling. Hope everyone close by the epi is safe.

    Just wanted to clarify, the epicenter was in Chino Hills, not Chino. and it's confirmed as a 5.4. You're right, it wasn't a huge quake; I still hope that everyone is okay.

    HAHAH you were freaked out? We had a shaker that size last fall and really… I think we are used to it. We are also built to withstand, so there's rarely damage. Maybe SoCal should take a page from our book?

    Oooh if I had it my way, L.A. would sink into the ocean and leave Disneyland behind.

    am working in monrovia and it shook the ground for a good long time. it was my first ever as well, and was incredibly cool, although it could be scary if worse.

    Loves I believe perez meant that it was his first earthquake he felt in Cali, well I didn't feel it I was driving but my mom called me freaked out to go and get my daughter from daycare so I did my daughter didn't know what was going on but I'd rather have her with me right now, im in the san fernando valley and everyone I know felt it pretty bad but this is nothing compared to the northridge earthquake but still scary we are due for the big one soon so we gotta get prepared.

    Our building was rolling here in Northridge, my bf is in a high rise in Beverly Hills- all of the cell phone lines were jammed forever- LA without cell phone access = chaos
