As someone who has been tested (and thankfully I'm negative), I feel that it IS very important for everyone to know their status, even if they feel they are not at risk. With that said, I feel that Obama IS just using this as yet ANOTHER tactic to appeal to yet ANOTHER group of people. He's so lame. Also, 1 out of every 2 people with HIV is black. Have to agree with Brett on this one. In this country, if you watch TV, use the internet, attend a public school, or just pass a newsstand, it's impossible NOT to know the dangers of unprotected sex. All you have to do to get free condoms is go to school and talk to the nurse or visit a clinic. Of course no one deserves to get AIDS, but with our abundance of resources and accessible supplies there is no excuse for any American - black or otherwise - not to use protection. Until people stop playing the blame game and start taking responsibility for themselves, it will only get worse.
