Starbucks continues on a downward spiral.
The coffee chain has announced plans to to close 61 of their 84 stores in Australia.
The closures will go into effect by Sunday!
Strabuck's stock price should be plummeting right about now.

it is the fault of Starbucks-they expanded so fast and people at first loved going there-but when you are having $ problems, that $7 latte gotta go. Everyone just say $$$$ in front of them and I am sure there are some that got rich. Their marketing/financial people should have known it would not last 4ever-just like all those video stores in the mid80's nail places in the 80's and again in 2000, tanning places in the 90's and now that gelato ice cream-they are popping up all over-
good. starbucks was an embarrasment anyway. $5 coffee?? ridiculous. anyone who thought it was more than a fad deserves to lose their money…

Perez, here's the deal. They're replacing most of the Starbucks with "Seattle's Best"s. Same parent company but without the stigma attached to the Starbucks name. It's their way of getting more customers.

there is a reason for everything, and a simple reason for this.
in the beginning starbucks was supposed to be about tradition and quality.
but then, they started caring more about money so their CEO quit. A new CEO was brought in who built all these starbucks, and did not really train people. The company got completely out of control, and now the old CEO has come back. He is shutting down stores in hopes of bringing old traditions back, but I am sure that the money part helps also.

This is part of Starbucks new strategy, they are closing stores that are in close proximities with other stores. The stock price might fall now but it will even out and then rise again soon. It's just the way.

I don't think Perez should talk about stock prices. Clearly not his area of expertise. For those of us that have followed SBUX shares, after the double top in 2006, the shares have been falling. Since announcing store closings and layoffs, the shares have been slightly higher, meaning the store closings were already priced into the shares before they were announced. Again, Perez should refrain from talking about stocks.
