The Disney star covered Breakout, a song Perry recorded years ago, for her new album, and Miley even chose that as the title of her record.

I voted Katy. Of the two, I'm actually a bigger fan of Miley's than of Katy's (although I don't really love either of them), but in this case Katy was better. Miley didn't do anything new with the song, she just took advantage of the fact that the lyrics give across the same message as the rest of her songs, that she's a care-free teenager who likes to have fun. The only thing better about Miley's version was that it was recorded in a better studio. But yeah, otherwise, Katy Perry is completely overrated in my opinion.

I'm not a big katy perry fan and I think miley cyrus has a typical, average voice of a 15 year old who isn't tone deaf. If she wasn't big because of hannah montana and released an album, it'd bomb. Let a preteen watch a show with a plot based around being a famous actress or singer and then they'll eat up the most horrible music you play because they're kinda sidetracked by a fantasy they all share. Miley does too many 'exercises' in her vocals and is trying to showcase that versus actually singing the actual song, that is why I prefer Katy's version.

Miley cyrus should cross over into country, trust me if she was a country singer, maybe we'd actually start to believe her virginal vow and she'd sell a few albums to a few grown people who have never seen hannah montana.
