The Disney star covered Breakout, a song Perry recorded years ago, for her new album, and Miley even chose that as the title of her record.

although i love katy's voice more…miley fits the lyrics wayyy better and therefore did a better job
On a local radio station in portland, OR, they were playing around with Miley's new song "7 things"… or whatever. It was interesting because on the vocals they dubbed her voice pitch only 3% lower than what it was on the song and she sounded EXACTLY like a man….that sounded even better than she! Brings up some interesting questions….I bet somewhere there is some quiet ghost writer/wanna make it singer getting paid to sing for her!

HERES THE FACTS: Just so you know, the story's not complete here. I'm one of the writers on this song. Katy was just the vocalist we brought in to sing the demo. It was never intended for her record or for her as an artist. As a songwriter, you have to demo a song out before you can present it to an artist. We thought it would be great for Miley, and as she said in an interview two weeks ago, when she first heard the song she knew it was perfect for her record. That's the facts.
katy perry needs to stick to singing shit she knows about. she never kissed a girl and this song is for a 15 year old like Cyrus.
Anything that Slutty Cyrus does is crap. Her cover isn't original at all, she sings like a 50 year old nicotine addict.

miley didn't do anything original to make the song seem special. Talentless, in my opinion. Katy Perry has a different tune to her voice, almost as if she's trying to make the song stand out more so then it being another scheme in her plan for her Hollywood invasion. My vote's for mizz Perry, just because she sings better, has more modesty, and overall has a better fashion consultant: herself. Suck that with #10 single, fugley.

I think that Miley's version is better - not because Miley is better, but because she suits the vibe of the song better.

the song leaves something to be desired, but I think Miley wins on this one. Katy is good, but sounds too adult for such a young song. Miley and her crowd are more suited to this one.
