While Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry are currently engaged in a friendly war of words, we thought we'd let their music do the talking and have you do the picking.
The Disney star covered Breakout, a song Perry recorded years ago, for her new album, and Miley even chose that as the title of her record.
So, which version do you like best: Katy's or Miley's?????

just because you hate Miley dosn't mean her version is worse. Katy Perry singing a song about school and shit, is weird. it fits Miley much better. i love them both, but Miley has got this HANDS DOWN. and i'm pretty sure Miley wrote the song….so i'm pretty sure she has the right to sing it whenever the fuck she wants. and why are people saying she should stop putting herself in the spotlight? uhhm, she didn't make any comment on this, Perez just put it up but somehow now Miley did it? NO! just get over hating her. and she's not a slut. GOD, i could rant about this all day, but i won't.
so if miley covered this song, that means she's cover three songs total on her new album but she says she co wrote all but three songs??? hmmm interesting no?
katy's voice is too good for the song.
i think miley fits it more because its kind of a kiddish song.
You can hear Katy singing in the background on Miley's track like she wasn't even deleted. She probably made Mileys sound cuz that girl attracts the tween market whereas Katy attracts a better more sophisticated market. Hell, even Whoopie loved her!!

Okay, let me preface this by saying I truly enjoy Katy Perry. I think she in wonderful! I am not really a fan of Miley Cyrus though.
WITH THAT SAID: I think that this goes to Miley. Katy is more talented, but it seems far more age appropriate for Miley. The production of Miley's version has just a little more kick to it as well.

If I had children I would only hope that they use Miley's example as one of what NOT to be like. Someone needs to let this little girl know that she is just a fad, a little phase that our youth is going through and in a few years it will be "Miley who?"

UUMMM. . . . Yeah so how does that rule of thumb go for movies, The Original Is Always Better. That definitely applys here. Normally when an "artist" does a remake of a song they change it up a little to make their own and add their charcteristics to it. Cyrus litterally copied the entire original! That shows that she absoultely no depth as an artist and is simply Disney's "Cash Cow" until all of the teenie boppers grow up and and are not interested in her, then they'll drop her. This just shows as an individual Miley Cyrus's music is just a bubble gum fad which like all fads end! The best part is her talking shit to Kate Perry. It's not like she completely made over the song and it was a bigger hit that the original, IT IS THE SAME EXACT THING! Poor Imitation, sorry Miley best luck next time, maybe you should stick to Hannah Montana and leave the music creating to the big girls or at least people who know how to do it.

Honestly, I really do like Miley's version better. It's definitely way better than Katy's. Miley's voice suits the song one-hundred and ten percent better. She has more energy for sure and I enjoy that.

As much as I hate Miley Cyrus, has to go to her…it just sounds so contrived when Katy Perry sings it, despite the fact that she probably wrote it. She was probably around 19 or so when she recorded this, it reminds me of bands like Blink-182 singing songs like 'First Date' when they had members in their late 20s…just sounds desperate, while Miley - as a teenager - makes the lyrics believable. Otherwise, virtually identical.

Katy Perry sounds awesome on Breakout, I like it. Cyrus sounds like she is talking instead of singing but thats on all of her songs.
The songs a little better suited for Miley's voice and style, to be honest, although they both do a good job. Miley's just sounds more right, it's not supposed to be a sexy song with words like, "We're gonna dance ’til the dance floor falls apart", which is what Katy's version gives it. I'm with Miley on this one.
But Perez, is there a reason you have to constantly criticize a fifteen year old girl who has never done anything personally to you? Her tour actually promoted something off your line, but you call a teenage girl a slut just because she took pictures which all fifteen year old girls do? Sweet.. really..

We think that Miley's version is OBVIOUSLY way better than Katy's. The poll results show otherwise because all the fat girls in America voted on this one and based their decision off of how much they hate Miley and how much they know they can never look like her. We think it's dumb to base your decision off of personal biases. Fat girls suck, Miley is better on this one. We love Katy Perry too, but she didn't win this one. No personal grudges here. And we're not fat either.

Ok this is stoopid. Katy Perry has that singer songwriter she probably worte for other well known acts. I LOVE both of these singers. But they are totally different. Katy is like Amy Whinehouse and Lilly Allen, that unique brunette with incredible talent( minus the drugs and alcohol). Katy is going to win tons of grammys next year. Miley is at that transition Hilary Duff was with "So Yesterday". This whole things seemed taken out of context, Miley just has a dry sense of humor and that's taken as bitchy. Miley's 15 Katy's way older than her so I don't think Katy's in on this supposed feud. the band is playing harder on Miley's version, making Katy's sound like a demo. the lyrics sound more relatable to Miley than Katy. It has High school teen angst all over it. Katy has way too many awesome songs on her album "One of The Boys" to claim this song.
