Riddle Me Depp?

As we mentioned earlier this month, reports state that the next Batman movie will feature the Riddler as the main villain.
Jim Carrey did a good job playing the last Riddler in 1995. So, who would likely take his place?
Well, some reports claim that Johnny Depp is being offered the role.
And with the success The Dark Knight has has had at the box office, making over $440 million worldwide, the producers don't think they'll have a problem convincing Depp to take the role.
A source says the producers "are convinced that the role of the Riddler is perfect for Depp. Johnny's a pro. He'll be able to take direction from director Chris Nolan and still make the character his own."
They also plan on revisiting another one of Batman's enemies, the Penguin. And according to insiders, they are hoping the role goes to Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Two excellent choices, we think.

Re: Evan – Ah, Crispin Glover as Riddler would be a fine choice as well. But you know something, let's flip it some more and think waaay outside the box: How about Crispin Glover as…PENGUIN?!? Come now, does it HAVE to be a rotund actor always portraying the Penguin? Glover is an intense actor (see "Willard") and I think it would be an interesting casting to say the least. Philip Seymour Hoffman though is a mighty fine actor too but overall I don't quite see how Nolan could work with the Penguin character as it is a bit outlandish. Unless as someone else mentioned, he is portrayed as a bureaucratic sleazebag.
Johnny all the way! He's the best one out there!

WOW that is great, I couldn't see a way in which they would be able to top this Batman movie but with this 2 GREAT ACTORS + GREAT ACTOR Cristian Bale, I'm sure the movie will be as good as this one!!!!!!!!!

as long as nolan is signed on to do more films there will be no penguin, and he's apprehensive about american actors, if the riddler does come, he'll probably choose a lesser known actor

Chris nolan has already stated that the penguin will not be in a batman movie of his, simply, because he is way too much of an unbelievable character.
Chris is into making things seem out of real life. I short guy obsessed with penguin, who is a billion and fights with an umbrella? I think not.

Serial killers ofter send clues to the police about their crimes so, yeah, the riddler is a very real, if not the most real, possibility for the next movie.
Depp? He would be perfect.

Being one of the only people in American who has yet to see Dark Knight, I would MOST DEF be first in line for this…if Depp and the Hof are in it–OMG…they are hot and BRILLIANT actors!

Uhh, I'm pretty sure Nolan said he wouldn't be including The Penguin in his series; he said he's too over-the-top.
i think that ledger should've die he did such amazing job with the joker that i'kill to see him again is that roll but depp is also amazing and i totally love him! it should be great!

depp and hoffmann? great stuff! but most of the actors going villain will have a tough time… i mean come on: carey was a great riddler last time. de vito as the penguin: unforgettable… and hey: not even halle berry could compete with michelle pfeiffer's performance as catwoman (cf. batman returns).

Funny how all the info for all 3 batmans (the last to be out within the next 2 years) is already out there for who the villain is going to be, but I guess no one wants to do the research. There will be the Riddler in the next one nor a Penguin. Well hell, let's go ahead and speculate about Catwoman since cats were mentioned in the Dark Knight. Please. Give me a break and do some research.
Sorry one hell of a type-o…the riddler and penguin WILL NOT be in the third one and Harvey Dent is the only confirmed villain for the 3rd.
You can never go wrong with Johnny, and P.S.H. is great too. I'd really look forward to that.
When is Depp not a good choice!
I think they should lay low on making another Batman movie right away and just let The Dark Knight keep the spotlight for awhile. Another Batman movie right away will not live up to the hype from The Dark Knight and therefore wont be great and wont make as much money.
They should totally have made the other villian Harley Quinn…Joker's assistant/lover and psychotic protege in the comics. Would have been a good way of at least carrying on the Joker in some way in the story line…as replacing him is obviously inappropriate. As for Depp playing the Riddler…COMPLETE hottness, and he's so talented
What about Aaron Eckhart as Two-Face, we dont know for fact that he died when he fell. They never actually said that he didnt survive, they ended the movie with Commissioner Gordon praising him and such and Batman being left as the "villian." So either they'll kill him off early or have his character taken care of as a begining feature. Either way they have to do something with two-face, he wasnt a shut out at the end, neither was the joker but unless they bring a new actor in we all know what happend to his character.
As for Johnny Depp, like I said upon hearing Heath Ledger was playing the Joker, we'll just have to wait and see. It worked for this film, will lightning strike twice? Who Knows?

The Hoffman Penguin rumor got started a LONG time ago and Nolan stated that he thought the Penguin was "boring"… the "Penguin Rumor" is BS in my book.
Riddler, I can see… but he'll probably wanna stick with grounded characters… not lose himself in sensationalism like the Penguin
