Mini Russert Following In Dad's Footsteps
Filed under: Media Minute
Dad must be smiling down from heaven.
According to a new report, the late Tim Russert's son, Luke, will be covering the Democratic and Republican conventions for NBC News.
The younger Russert's assignment as a convention correspondent focusing on "youth issues" is his first for NBC, the network said Thursday.
NBC New's president said, "Never before in an election cycle has so much attention turned to the youth vote, and Luke will bring a unique perspective to covering it."
Russert said in a statement that he was "humbled and grateful" for the opportunity.
We're sure he'll do a great job!

how about not criticizing him and actually giving it a shot. i'm sure he is intrested considering his family. unlike the paris hilton's of the world he is actually trying to do something worthwhile with his opprotunites. But because everyone here is so pessimistic you're damned if you do and damned if you don't. try to be positive.
He got the job just because of his dad? Pathetic.
i saw this guy being interviewed on larry king and he is a legend! so smart, so down to earth and so funny. i wish him all the best!
mini russet suit is so ugly…..
WOW….peeholerez said something kind.
Must mean he would like to do Luke. Dream on smegma-mouth!
Way to capitalize on your dad's death, kid.
True, he is smart and articulate, and maybe he does have a future in journalism, but nepotism really hurts people like me (a.k.a. "nobodies"). It just tell people like me that I can work my ass off and network like crazy and do all the right things and I still won't get the job because my last name isn't Kennedy, Bush, and now Russert. Sorry, but that's a hard pill to swallow.
yummy, i'll vote as long as i get a taste of lil russert
Re: Nigel – That was a hateful comment, His father
was a positive person and he has a positive son. Love breeds love, hate breeds hate. If people learned to give positivity to other people, positivity
would come back to them. Don't wish bad on people and be jealous, wish
people well, and you will do well.
I can't wait til my dad dies so I can take his job!! Life is good.
he was pretty impressive at his father's funeral and speaking of him on the air so soon after his death. i was impressed with his composure then and I'm sure he'll do a great job.
It's still hard to believe such a postive role model like the late Tim Russert is gone and taken too early when we have assholes runing amuck both, young and old, in Dummywood with DUIs, 24-hour stoned faces and basically clueless unprepared life personas. Holpefully Tim's son will make us proud.
This is GREAT!
His Dad would be Proud!!
This is sickening. Can't the young man get a legit job without pulling strings from his dead father? Wonder how many more talented applicants they had at good old Nepotism Broadcasting Company.
I've sucked him off before, his dick is small, but his cum tastes good!
I liked Tim and nothing against his son but come on when will neopotism end?? All it does is put unqualified people in jobs they shouldnt be in. Im the same age as the Jr and a recent college grad too and you dont see ME getting a job like that…us normal people have to work their way up and EARN IT!
Re: eliza –
Yes he may be great and smart and interested and all that. BUT SO ARE MILLIONS OF OTHERS!! Do you know how many other well educated, interesting, intelligent, great people there are who want this job too…some of them working for the past 25 years in the business and they don't get it. Why do you think he got it…BECAUSE OF HIS FATHER. That is the ONLY reason. Most recent college grads start out in shitty $10/hr jobs and HAVE to work their way up cuz they dont have famous parents with lucrative jobs. So joe smoe can continue living in a recession trying to pay his bills never getting a big break b/c all the rich Jr's out there just get handed the job with no experience. I really have no doubt he is capable, I think he is. And, he seems like a really nice guy, honest I think that. But come on now, is he the best…No. Work your way up like the rest of us…the commoners are sick of these rich brats getting everything handed to them!
I love this story, his father is smiling right now, Much sucess to you.
Re: Just – jealous much?
Why are we considered "jealous much?" when we say that nepotism isn't right, especially in a country that is supposedly based on a meritocracy? Sorry, but that's not jealousy, it's bullshit.
he has been filling in as "stat boy" on the espn talk show PTI the last few days too.
Re: mama- – HATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Nigel – YOUR AN IDIOT WHO PROBALY GOT ABANDON WHEN U WHERE BORN, BUT Y NOT IF I HAD A KID LIKE YOU I WOULD LEAVE YOU IN THE TRASH!
I was shocked to see him fumble through his words when the network used him in the days after his fathers death. He tried to talk as if he knew something about the "young" vote. Nothing he said made sense. It was a bunch of garbled words, just an uninformed kid taking the spotlight from someone who worked hard in hopes of getting a chance the way his dad earned it and proved himself over and over again.
Shame on Luke and the Russert family for letting him take this FREE pass. Who am I to say…but I'll say it anyway. HIS DAD WOULD NOT BE PROUD.
Heaven doesn't exist, dumbass.
wow! what a great opportunity. if he does good he will be in for life.
Don't bash him just because he got the job through his dad…nepotism is prevalent in EVERY aspect of society (Hollywood and Wall Street to small family businesses). Clearly from his interviews after his father passed away, this kid is well spoken and intelligent. He also graduated from one of the best colleges in the country, I'm sure he learned a thing or two while there. You haters are just SO jealous it's unreal!
Re: Margo – Watch out, here comes Junior Samples Junior!
