I'd love to see everyone stop going to Wal Mart. It'd be fun to see what kind of chaos it would cause when the economy crumbles over night.
Keeys you are off base. "Unions ruin corporations" - that is kind of the idea. Such a small percentage own the wealth in this country and unions give a voice and power to the little guy. In the long run they would work towards increasing salaries and benefits of all of the employees. After mining and steel mill companies were unionized the injury and death rates decreased because unions team up with organizations such as OSHA which increased safety standards. Furthermore, before unionization in such companies, an injured worker was SOL if he lost his job due to inability to work. Unions ensured that workers and their families were compensated. I think that's worth some dues. It would mean a more livable salary and benefits for their families in addition to job protection.

I live in a rural area where Wal-Mart and Goodyear Tires are about the only places to work. Several of my family members work at Wal-Mart and alot of friends work at Goodyear(which has a union) If a union comes into Wal-Mart-even if the employee does not choose to join, they still have to pay union dues-does that sound like a choice to you? If the union decided to strike, the Wal-Mart employees who choose not to be part of the union (because of striking purposes) are now the target of the union workers for choosing to still go to work and earn their living. The union is not a choice, it always demands. Just like Democrats-they all demand and never ask what others need to better themselves.

Let us very simply de-lineate the bad labour practices:
1) Pay all employees absolute minimum wage to ensure no sound resolve to end campaign (no money to feed mouths=no chance in hell to strike against)
2) Go in (military style) and confirm lowest prices…even 10 cents less will make a convert if living hand to mouth
3) Ensure advertising loud enough to ensnare all recipients with limited cashflow, within fiscal boundaries, to ensure success. Most Importantly: Close down possible competition by repeating #2 as often as possible. Capture market. Ensure you undercut by as little as possible all local merchants, but above all, Barely Undercut to snare the consumer.
Ensure all proceeds from that town are taken from the local merchants pockets, and are feed into the Brothers hands.

The new legislation proposed by the democrats does not make the unionization process easier, it makes it easier for the current union members to harass the voters who vote no to unionize and pressure them into voting yes. How? If passed, the way a person votes will be made public knowledge. The unions will seek out those who vote NO and harass them at work, show up at their homes, etc. until they pressure them into joining the union. Unions already are doing the latter and it will only get worse if this legislation is passed.
How do you like paying more for food at the grocery store? Well you better get used to it and then some if this legislation is passed. Unions will artificially inflate the direct labor charges commodity companies will incur. The companies in turn are going to be charging YOU to cover these additional costs. Do you really think the big executives are going to take a hit out of their own pocket?! It all sounds good when somebody else is paying, but in reality it is going to come back and hit you in YOUR wallet. Can you put your money where your mouth is?
With the rising price of gas and other commodities in 2008, inflation has really been hurting lower- and middle- class America. Do not continue to hurt the poor and VOTE NO for this legislation!!!

my family and I have never and will never shop at walmart. No one gets it, and it's an argument everytime we try and explain. People, stay away from them…yes, they have great prices, but it's at your expense, you will see….
one of the ways wal-mart keeps prices down is to protect against their workers joining unions. if you don't like it, don't shop there. if you work there and don't like it, get a new job. have fun if obama gets elected with sky high taxes on your income coupled with prices at places like wal-mart rising due to, among other things, the unionization of workers.
I avoid Wal-Mart , It's a store that has its minimum wage workers voting against their own self interest. Like the asses on Faux News stating that we are not in a resession. This skank company prides otself in hiring the elderly and then collecting on their life insurance when they die.
Sears at least pays our service men and women the difference between their regular pay and military in addition Dental and other benefits are manitained while they are away in the military. It may not be the best store but it's American and they support American troops (whether you like the war or not).

Okay, I'm 16, and I work at Walmart. I make $7.50 an hour as a cashier. That's pretty damn good. All my friends make around $6.50. And I'm treated very well there as is my mother who works there too. Wal-Mart is the devil. My aunt worked there and they run their stores like a dictatorship. She said that she actually felt like she was in the military. I recently worked at a company that manufactured socks and Wal-Mart was one of their vendors. They would demand the socks for pennies and when my boss told them that there was no way we could make them for that and still make a profit and pay our employees…Wal-Mart's people said "we don't care". That sums up Wal-Mart pretty well.
Sorry, I'll still shop there for everyday items like t-paper and such….I care more about my family's wellbeing too much. Unions ARE the problem!

I work at walmart. and I've never heard ANYTHING like this. we do get addressed in orientation about why unions wouldn't be benifical in a company as large as walmart. which makes sence…but they NEVER mentioned that any party is going to make it easier for unions to get into walmart. I think this is absurd, not only does my husband but several close friends work in several different Wal-Marts in Texas. They are Store Managers, Co-Managers, and Assistant Managers and none of them were told or pressured to vote either way.

I work as a manager for walmart. They do tell employees that unions are not good for walmart. They've never said anything about democrats tho. And to all the people saying ya'll are going to boycott walmart are full of shit. You know you are going to be in there tonight cuz you have to have a jar of mayo and a basket ball net at three in morning. And walmart is the only place you can get it.

As unions cannot win many secret-ballot elections to organize workers, they have come up with a new solution. It's not to make the union more desirable. It's simply to take away the American worker's right to have a secret-ballot election. If the unions have their way the next president and the next Congress will eliminate a fundamental American right just to make it easier for their union allies to acquire more members, more dues, and more power. The office of labor management standards, the lone federal agency responsible for finding and prosecuting union corruption is the only major Dept. of Labor to receive less money in 2007 than the prvious year.

Well believe all the union propoaganda you want. Most of the anti-Wal-Mart posts are from union thugs. The reality is that a VAST majority of union members (or their spouse) shop at Wal-Mart. Why? Because they want to SAVE their money but don't want you to save YOUR money. So that is why when you go to a grocery store that is union you pay more for your food. Even though I can train my 5 year old to SCAN an item in about 3 seconds. Oh and the grocer's union really does not pay everyone $20 like they claim. There are plenty of people who make $10 an hour and only get 20 hours a week.
The height of hypocrisy is that most union pensions invest in blue chip stocks INCLUDING Wal-Mart. Go figure. What is good for the goose is not good for the gander in the world of organized labor!

I never shop at Wal-Mart…it is a total white trash store…when I've walked into any Wal-Mart before, the smell of farts knocks me down….I'd much rather shop at Target where it is clean, tidy, organized and trendy and hip. This topic happens to be one that I feel you know too little about to be casting judgement. I have worked at Wal-Mart for fourteen years and have done very well as a female associate. I began as an hourly associate and was promoted to management associate a short time later. The Company is not bad, it is very much pro associate and we all work towards the common goal to save the customer money so they can live better. Our governement cannot seem to do this as they cannot seem to figure out the basic elements of running a country. Today was the first time that I had heard of the current situation exploded in the media. All that I ask is that you collect qualitative data before you arrive at an opinion on this subject.
