I think she is obviously lip synching, some shows require you to do so, and she really is you can tell even when her hair gets in her mouth. She did lipsynch "I'll Be…", but it's obvious that she sang the next song live and did an amazing job. Not unusual though. Singers often lipsynch when there is some choreography involved. It's not like anybody thinks Mariah Carey can't sing.

It's true Mariah never sings live, but I like her anyway. I saw her in concert and a few tracks skipped while she was lipsynching. I don't think she has sang live since the mid 90's. SHe is still one of my top five acts of all time though.

Hell no she's not! You can tell if you listen to her sing, you can hear in her voice that it's live and not a recording. I think the video is just not very clear and so it blurs her mouth funny at times and looks weird. And as far as no close-ups? It's probably to show the big audience there? Lots of performances like that aren't close up shots all the time.

LOOK, ONCE AND FOR ALL HERE'S THE DEAL. You appear on these shows to promote your album. The artist has very little control over sound/live mixing and camera shots for that matter. With today's music it is VERY DIFFICULT to replicate the album sound live, unless you are touring and have worked out all of these details with your sound tech/crew. Singing to a track is standard. You sing, but your live level is lower than the recorded track. Remember, we're trying to sell albums with these tv appearances.
