Christina Applegate Has Cancer

Sad sad news.
Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Her rep released the following statement late Saturday:
"Christina Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer. Benefiting from early detection through a doctor ordered MRI, the cancer is not life threatening. Christina is following the recommended treatment of her doctors and will have a full recovery. No further statement will be issued at this time."
We're hoping for a full, speedy recovery.
It's been a rough few weeks for the actress.
Her on again-off again boyfriend died of a drug overdose last month.
Christina is scheduled to appear on the Stand Up to Cancer benefit scheduled to air simultaneously on CBS, NBC and ABC September the 5th.

Did she really think that by chain smoking she would not get cancer?? Hard to feel sorry for someone that chain smokes. Hey CA chain smoking and the pill equal cancer. When will people learn?

Christina - you go, girl! My best wishes to you as you go through your treatment. I am sure you have good doctors advising you, and possibly have already had genetic testing. I'm a hereditary breast cancer survivor. Really, please consider your prophylactic options if this is a genetic disease for you. Big hugs!

Ok I don't know what is wrong with you- clearly you are just ignorant BUT….1) 3 people in my family have had cancer- 2 have died and one is still alive. 1 of them smoked, two of them didn't . Maybe one day you will learn the difference between an ENHANCER and a CERTAINTY. ok? Oh, and BY THE WAY the pill has been proven recently to HELP women with certain immunities from some illnesses. So..hmm…shut up ok?

Thank you so much! I try to tell people the same thing. They always look at you as if you are nuts. It's not only early detection. Try to make simple changes, it adds up over time.

First you cry - then you fight. All the misinformation - the only thing you need to get breast cancer or ovarian cancer is that you are a woman - not your age, not having children (my sister who battled for 8 years breast cancer had both of her children by 25 and she died). Some women die, some live and the only one to decide is God, but we do wish her the good fight and prayers. And for the idiot male comments - it is rare, but it is still very real - men can also get breast cancer - so laugh at "poor Kelly Bundy" you may be next.

Very sorry to hear this. They just keep getting younger. They say the cancer numbers are decreasing. I don't believe it. I know too many people that died of cancer. I hope she beats it. It sounds optimistic. Good luck to her. God bless.

I absolutely love Christina Applegate and have for a long time. Samantha Who? is a much better show than what a lot of people have been saying. Anyway, I really hope she is okay right now and much better in the future. She seems like a very strong woman.
If they caught it early its probably Ductal Cancer in Situ. She will probably have a lumpectomy, radiation and Tamoxifen. Better detection means they catch alot of breast cancer early. Women need to get a Mammography every year If you have no insurace call the American Cancer Society and they will get it for you free

Re: Nadia – You might want to check your facts before trying to give advice. Look on snopes.com & it explains this as a myth. I'm a breast cancer survivor and my oncologist said deod. has NOTHING to do w/ cancer. Good luck Christina, keep the faith and know there are many praying for you!
Was it not Christina Applegate who was at the Viper Room when River Phoenix died that night and she found his convulsions amusing? Going so far as to laugh out loud at him as he died? Of course the story's been rewritten over time, but I remember hearing the stories when it happened. Karma's a bitch.
