Harry Potter is Out, Twilight is In

J.K. Rowling can pass the torch over to Stephenie Meyer now.
Meyer's Breaking Dawn, the fourth book in her Twilight series sold 1.3 million copies on its first day of release, August 2nd.
For those of you bad with math, that's A LOT of books!
This past Friday night, thousands of bookstores and libraries hosted midnight parties across the country to help fuel these astounding figures.
We mentioned previously that due to the overwhelming demand for the title, the publisher went back for a second printing of 500,000 copies prior to publication, to the current in-print figure of 3.7 million copies.
The publisher has also confirmed the upcoming publication of The Twilight Saga: The Official Guide.
It will be available on December 30th.
The hardcover book will be the only official guide to the series and will provide readers with everything they need to further explore the world Meyer created in the Twilight Saga.
Said book will contain exclusive new material, character profiles, genealogical charts, maps, extensive cross-references and so much more!
We heart anything vampires!

Twilight is awesome, but I almost ruined the last book by giving in to the temptation of spoilers. Even with knowing most of the basic plot points, Stephenie Meyer still weaved a captivating story that I could not point down. I can't wait to see the movie in December and hope our support for the film leads to the completion of 3 more Twilight movies!
Not to insight animosity for the HP fans (which I sorta like too), but doesn't Harry Potter just get insanely lucky? Most of his triumps in the books and movies have nothing to do with his actual talent as a wizard. Lily Potter for example is the real skilled wizard in the family.
sorry but JK Rowling will never be replaced by anyone. I've read some Twilight, but it's definitely not as captivating as Harry Potter. Hate to break it to you.

I love the Twilight books! I literally only started reading them a week ago after my best friend got the first 2 books last weekend and told me I had to read them. I got twilight on tuesday..new moon on wednesday..eclipse thursday..and breaking dawn Saturday..and they are AWESOME. No matter what anyone says!

Breaking Dawn was AMAZING! When I fist finished I didn't know how I felt about it but after sleeping on it and reading it again, I am loving every single letter in it. Stephenie Meyer rocks and Edward and Bella are the new Romeo and Juliet for me. (Oh and I'm 30 years old).
'Breaking Dawn' sucked so much ass it's not even funny. Stephenie Meyer tried so hard to make the story have a 'happily-ever-after' ending that she completely missed the mark. She left off so many open stories and deceived her fans concerning the content of 'Breaking Dawn'. I'm returning my copy when I get a chance to go to the bookstore, and this will be the first book I've ever returned to a store.
Stephenie Meyer is NO J.K. Rowling. Twilight will never be what Harry Potter is.
Pass the torch my ass. Twilight was a good book and i'm sure the series is pretty good as well, but they are NOTHING compared to the Harry Potter FRANCHISE. JK Rowling will hardly be outdone any time soon.

I loved Twilight, New moon and Eclipse, and I honestly think that Breaking Dawn is the perfect closure of the story, at least for Edward and Bella. The most complaints I heard were about the length of the book, but I think it was perfect, I really liked the way the book is separated in three parts, and we get to see different points of view. So, I get it, some people hate Breaking Dawn, but I LOVE IT

You must be joking. Bella and Edward get to keep everything happy and romantic! Bella pops out a baby, becomes drop dead gorgeous (and loses the baby bump in the process), doesn't kill any humans, keeps her relationships with her father/friends, and manages to securely save everyone in the book because she's a sudden super vampire. Romeo and Juliet had nothing happy at the end of the book, just their tombstones. To compare the two couples is ludicrous and the literary community hangs their head in shame because of you.
Where have you been Perez. Dont you know Rob Pattinson is the next Hollywood superstar. His attendance at Comic con was compared to Elvis or the Beatles arriving. Not only does he radiate sex appeal but he's a fantastic actor too. I cant wait to see his male on male scenes in Little Ashes. He plays Salvador Dali having a gay love affair with Federico Lorca. You really are late focusing on Twilight but more importantly the delectable Robert Pattinson.

I dont give s stuff about Twilight but I do care about the gorgeous Rob Pattinson. Perez you need to focus more on him. He's refreshingly different and much more talented the actors you usually focus on. Most Hollywood actors are bland, boring and unoriginal. Rob doesnt give a toss about PR and is a sexy, shy, charismatic god like creature. Roll on Little Ashes where he plays a gay Salvador Dali. I cant wait for the sex scene in the water.

i understand how some twilight fans wold be mad at what i said (and the fact i haven't read the books) but my friends have told me an awful lot about them and told how they were disappointed by breaking dawn, and the backrounds to characters and what not, because i wanted to read them but wanted to know stuff about them before i did. apparently the first 3 were sooo good, i'm not hating on twilight, i'm just pointing out that Bella and Edward seem boring (sorry).

I loved the take she has on these vampires and werewolves weel shape-shifters now) and yes I do agree that BD was not as good as the other books.. i havse my pros and cons about it and i prefer Twilight and Eclipse out of the whole series.. but JK finished her series and now Twilight is becoming a huge thing, just like HP did. Like i said, it's a new and different story and many people love it. We "Twilighters" stick to our fantasy world and support our vamp/wolf love and you guys can stick to your wands and spells.

I don't see Meyer being given any notable awards, rising from rags to riches through her novels…she didn't even make nearly as much money from her entire series that JK did with her first 3 books!
but alas, JK has officially "retired" the Harry Potter series, and we've got to welcome all these new wanna-be JKs,

ummmmm…harry potter ended only a year ago ppl nothing is going 2 replace it for a long while…twilight is successful yes, but harry potter is and international sensation which soled 8.3 million in the first 24 hours in the U.S ALONE i didn't even know about twilight until recently because of perez and thats pathetic(pathetic cause ur trying to compare it with hp) 2 b honest even b4 the movies came out ppl knew about harry potter even if the didn't read it. And by the look of the trailer of twilight the whole plot and story line looks predictable a dated..hbp and twilight come out around the same time so we will see who does better and twilight come out on my birthday so more than likely i will go to see it.

Well, just to let everyone know….I LOVE TWILIGHT and I'm stoked for the movie to come out in december. also for those of you who wonder "What's so special about the Twilight Saga?" Well….here is my answer:
1. It's a captivating love story in which the "supernatural" is overlooked because the emotions that these creatures feel are so human.
2. The characters ARE developed and enthralling!
3. Stephenie Meyer writes beautifully and makes you feel as though you are actually there…in the book…experiencing everything the characters are.
4. The characters are very relatable…even though some of them are "mythical creatures"
These are my MAIN reasons why The Twilight Saga is so special!!
ALSO…..I THINK IT'S REALLY COOL THAT ASHLEY GREENE (THE ACTRESS PLAYING ALICE IN THE TWILIGHT MOVIE) IS IN AN ADD TO THE RIGHT FOR "STOP STARING! CLOTHING" =)

I think the reason that HP fans get all upset when you mention the two in the same sentence is because
1) these are two completely different types of books,
2) the media just slaps Harry Potter's name on something Twilight related to get people to watch/read/listen because HP sells,
and 3) Twilight is a mediocre series overall (in my opinion, anyway.)
Harry Potter isn't "out." There's another book by JKR coming this December, as well three more movies and an encyclopedia. It's far from over. Twilight's just popular (in my opinion) because everyone wants to do Edward.

*HIGH FIVE* I was going to respond to that same post, but you basically retaliated perfectly. In no way, shape, or form is Twilight more relatable than Harry Potter. Both deal with mythical themes, but Bella as a main character is much more shallow and brainless, and the themes in HP are broader and fully-fleshed. And I'm tired of people saying, "WELL, all you people who say Twilight sux OBVIOUSLY haven't read it LolOl!" UH, yes I have. As I said, they're jokes. They made me laugh, that's why I read them. Go back to Barnes and Noble.com and look at how many of those reviews were written BEFORE THE BOOK WAS ACTUALLY OUT TO BE WRITTEN.

I read the book, I'm 23 years old, im not obessed with Stephenie meyer, nor am i a twilight saga fantatic. Just an avid reader. Im educated - enough to know that it was flat, it was boring, the characters were completely different from the other 3. I have a right to an opinion as well without getting attacked by some fourth grader about it.
Oh, and by the way. GO back to chapter 3 in the book. . Charlie is eating pancakes on the first page, and cereal on the second. A Professional writer, like JK would have her work edited well enough to avoid stupid mistakes like that. AND not go back on her own word for her own rules regarding her writing.
I also know for a fact, as i went to Target today, and saw 20+ copies behind the customer service counter in the return bin. Obviously if people are returning it, there is something wrong.
So, I will repeat go GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR, or should i say Edward Cullens ASS.

According to many websites dedicated to the twilight series, not only did fans enjoy reading breaking dawn (the last book), many chose it as there favorite out of the four. People no matter what will always make complaints about the books, because things didnt happen the way they wanted to, or they found parts stupid. I have to admit there are things in the book even I thought were redundant, but the book was overall a good read. You can't compare J.K Rowling to stephanie meyers due to the fact they are writing two different types of books. The twilight series are about the trials and hardships of an unlikley but perfect pairing between two characters that throughout the series you grow to love aswell. Not a young wizard boy his friends, and all the shenanigans they get into waiting for the final fight between him and his enemy. Both are amazing series, and both have their faults. I like stephanie meyers just due to the fact she wasn't in it for the money(she was paid 750,000$ for the first three books), she just wanted her characters with the world. But yes, I too am very excited for the upcoming movie aswell.

NO, Twilight is not better than HP because you can't compare them. Just like you wouldn't compare either of them to a Stephen King book, Anne Rice book or The Lord of the Rings. Different plots, different writing styles, different everything. They're all good in their own way.
anyway, having read both books- YES HP is out, but it doesn't mean that it's not an awesome series. BUT twilight is on it's way out too. End of the series and it lost a LOT of fans who got disapointed with breaking dawn, me being one of them ;[
