Explosive: John Edwards Admits To Affair!!!!

His political career is OVER!
In a new interview with ABC's Nightline, one-time Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards admits that he lied repeatedly about NOT having an affair with the woman rumored to be the mother of his illegitimate child.
The former Senator came clean today, Friday, after weeks and weeks of avoiding the allegations from The National Enquirer.
Edwards' wife, Elizabeth, is battling terminal cancer and has not commented on this latest development.
We're sure his kids are really proud of poppa!
Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff that he did have an affair with 42-year old videographer Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.
As if that makes it better?????
Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter's baby girl, Frances Quinn, although he said he has not taken a paternity test.
Edwards claims he knew he was not the father based on timing of the baby's birth on February 27, 2008. He said his affair ended too soon for him to have been the father.
Uhmmm, then why did he go and visit the mother and baby last week????
Edwards said his wife, Elizabeth, and others in his family became aware of the affair in 2006.
Edwards made a point of saying that his wife's cancer was in remission when he began the affair with Hunter. Elizabeth Edwards has since been diagnosed with an incurable form of the disease.
That makes it worse, douche!!!!!
Since becoming pregnant, Hunter has lived under assumed names in a series of expensive homes in North Carolina and, more recently, in Santa Barbara, California.
Edwards denied paying any money to Hunter to keep her from going pubic but said it was possible some of his friends or supporters may have made payments without telling him.

Come on now, folks. John Edwards has lived his life as a decent family man. Don't get me wrong - he should have NEVER done what he did. But he did. However, he confessed it to his wife a long time ago and she chose to forgive him. There are very few black and white issues in a marriage - there is ALOT of gray. I am willing to bet that half the people criticizing him totally supported Bill Clinton after he lied and then came clean, all on national television, about having a fling with a young intern. As lousy as it is, married people sometimes have affairs. With so many other issues to worry about now, this seems pretty insignificant.

Why is it that politicians are forced to atone for extramarital affairs in public? Infidelity is extremely common in many long term marriages…how a couple decides to deal with it is a private matter and entirely up to them.
Personally, I would never allow my husband to maintain a "shadow" family, but some women do. At least Edwards has the balls to own up to it and seems to want maintain contact with the child.

Re: whattheheck – I appreciate you're opinion, and I hate to agree with some others on this site (and the fact that thought I "hate" politicians in general, I always lean to the left) because though Clinton, like Reagan, had an interesting and unique way of inspiring sympathy and often times faith and forgiveness in his countrymen (despite the whole impeachment business ; ) ) he really wasn't a great president. Have an in depth talk with anyone in the military during his time in office, and then research it on your own. That's just a starting point. His global reputation was pretty much shit too, though I don't think anyone has EVER stooped so low as the fucking idiot we re-elected that's in office now. This country doesn't have a great track record WHATSOEVER when it comes to leaders. Even my favorite, Teddy Roosevelt, had his issues. These personal scandals happen to all kinds of people in all kinds of families. It has happened to friends of my parents and all kinds of people in everyone's community.
