Such sad news.
Comedian Bernie Mac died early Saturday morning from complications due to pneumonia.
This was confirmed by his publicist.
He was only 50-years old.
As y'all know, the funny man had been hospitalized for about a week.
A few years ago, Mr. Mac disclosed that he suffered from sarcoidosis, a rare autoimmune disease that causes inflammation in tissue, most often in the lungs. However, his reps claimed early on that the bout of pneumonia he was fighting had nothing to do with the sarcoidosis.
He's survived by his wife Rhonda McCullough, their daughter, Je'Niece, a son-in-law and a granddaughter, Jasmine.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

actually no one was laughing because Perez already made himself look like an idiot for saying it in the first place. It had already been documented that Bernie had a disease before the he went to the hospital. Perez is the one who didn't look into that. When Perex implied that it was drugs he alone looked like an idiot not Bernie.
So my question for Perez now is, are you not even going to ackowledge that you were wrong? Don't pray for his family. Pray you never end up in the hospital.

He acknowledged his pre-existing disease in the same post as the one with the off-color comment. It had already been denied that his disease had anything to do with his condition anyway. My point is that, had Perez made those comments about anyone who didn't wind up dying, it wouldn't be so bad. It's chance, coincidence.

This news made me feel so sad. He brought a lot of happiness and laughter into the lives of many, many people and will always be remembered as a talented comedian and class act.
OMG - this is so sad. He was so freakin' funny! Time to watch Kings of Comedy tonight! That was an awesome stand up for him. Everyone should watch it if you haven't seen it - hopefully everyone has though - too freakin' funny! R.I.P. and my prayers are with his family!

Actually…I have had pneumonia, and I took an antibiotic to fight it off. It took about 2 weeks but It wasn't life threatening because of the medicine.

I think it's real rude that Perez has yet to apologize for stating that Bernie Mac's pneumonia was to cover up going in for an over dose. The man was obviously ill and Perez, as usually, made jokes about it.
In a situation like this, I think that Perez should issue an apology immediately.

I am not going to lie and pretend that I knew all of Bernie Mac's work, but from what I did know of him he was extrememly talented. Its sad that a man who spent his life working to make others happy/smile could die so young. My heart goes out to his family/loved ones. This is a horrible loss.

I have sarcoidosis that's in remission also. When it's in remission it doesn't really affect something like pneumonia. That was just his shitty luck.

I have quite a few gay (male and female) family members, not to mention, a number of gay male, and female, friends…and, the gay MALES are THE most narcissistic, ego-maniacal, self-centered people, that I have come across in all of my 43 years of life.
Would I ever toss them aside? No. I could never turn my back on family and friends…but, I do take everything they say, with a grain of salt, and, I reserve the right to only have contact with them when I feel that I am mentally and emotionally ready to deal with their whining, crying, self-absorption…in other words, all of their crap.

He was probably on prednisone….my mom has the disease. Prednisone is a steroid that inhibits your immune system drastically, which is probably what allowed the pneumonia to settle in. He couldn't have seen it coming, but his fucking doctors should have.
I didn't know this. Soooo sad. I didn't think he'd die….didn't think it was that bad. Just figured he'd be in there for a bit and back out again.
