The Golden Boy Wins First Gold - Sets Another New Record!

Michael Phelps won his first medal of the Olympic Games on Sunday in Beijing.
And, of course, it was Gold!
The U.S. swimmer smashed his own world record, comfortably winning the 400 metres individual medley gold medal in four minutes 03.84 seconds.
This is the first of a potential record-breaking eight gold medals at the Olympics for Phelps.
It was Phelps's seventh career Olympic gold medal and ninth overall as he chases down Mark Spitz's 36-year-old record of seven golds at one Games.
Let's hope he does it all!
He's already made history today.

I hope he does NOT win them all, Dutch top swimmer Pieter Van Den Hoogeband also needs to win at least one gold medal! He's awesome and dutch, so woohoo to him! The dutch women already beat out the competition earlier today and won gold on the 4×100m, WOOHOO to them too!

Re: OldandUgly – Yes she did, I am trying to remember her name…I think it was Mariel or Muriel (can't recall the last name). She won the gold, and the silver and bronze was also awarded to the US in fencing. It was a perfect trifecta. lol
