Team USA's Big Ballin'

Warning: If you don't want spoilers, then do not read on!

Repeat: spoilers ahead, y'all.

It's a good start to the fight for gold!

Team USA basketball beat Yao Ming's Team China in Beijing on Sunday.

The final score was 101-70.

The US team's highest scorer was the Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade with 19 points.

Superstar LeBron James contributed 18.

In 2004, Team USA was humbled when its star-studded NBA roster lost three times and settled for Athens bronze.

This year's crew considers themselves the "Redeem Team".

USA! USA!

Bring home the gold, boys.

  9. 9

Please Please Please don't tell us who wins the relay tonight! I hope Michael goes 2 for 2! But yeah that game was on this morning and we owned China!

  10. 10

    total ass kicking

  11. 11

the relay is live, isn't it?

  12. 12

you'll see the relay live tonight. people seem to be really confused about the whole time zone thing

  13. 13

    Re: jayjay

it's live but there's a tape delay because I live mountain standard time so last night everyone knew phelps broke the world record an hour before we saw it! :(

  14. 14

    Go Team USA!

  15. 15

The Americans totally annihilated the Chinese! It was a good match though… in the 1st half. Then it looked like all the good players were tired out and so the lousy second half began.

  16. 16

And you're covering the Olympics, which I and many others are boycotting (except for equestrienne) for political reasons, all of which you have expressed from time to time, because?

  17. 17

    Late as always, Perez.

Very good game though, I was surprised at how well China played.

  18. 18

LT all the way baby :D usa sucks lol

  19. 19

That was a great game. Bow down to America you bitches.

  20. 20

All that Money they pay them and so called talent there you would expect nothing less then gold. Over rated if you ask me….

  21. 21

Re: chilie – Then, don't read the posts, on this site. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that.

  22. 22

    u.s.a. U.S.A. u.s.a. U.S.A.

  23. 23

    go usa =]

  24. Eddy says – reply to this

    24

Perez, atleast post the source when you are writing an article using another article. Clearly you plagiarized the reuters article.

  25. 25

Re: chilie – BTW…your only preference is to watch women on horseback (hence, your EQUESTRIENNE reference), rather than both males and females, during the Olympics?
You have alot to learn about what constitutes a boycott. It means the whole kit-n-kaboodle..not just the sports that you have no interest in. Otherwise, it doesn't count.

  26. 26

    thanks for the warning!

  27. 27

LOL @ "chilie". Nice political statement you are making - You either ban watching the ENTIRE games or none at all.

The Chinese were definitely better at making 3-pointers, whereas the U.S. was best at slamdunking. I have the biggest crush on Yao Ming.

  28. 28

    Re: chilie

the publicity china is receiving due to the olympics and all the associated coverage will do FAR more to change their policies than a few people boycotting the viewing. all you're doing is dampening the margin for NBC

  29. skid says – reply to this

    29

that is so sick! oh how i love being an american.

  30. 30

    fuck the Olympics

  31. 31

    I guess.

  32. 32

Hell ya! all my favorite guys… they did really good

  33. 33

    yummy!

  34. 34

It's not the same since all of the teams are now made up of pros.

  35. 35

    I love The Olympics.

  36. 36

The Women's Gymnastics just might be pretty good, this year, for the US. 2 Chinese gymnasts already fell flat on their heinys.

    37

The girls team are doing GREAT to

    Re: Steve Drill
    High school drop outs?
you must be dumb as hel they all went to colledge expect LeBron James who was picked after he finshed highschool

  39. 39

Re: DIJordan – Oops, I spoke too soon. So far, the first 2 US gymnasts stepped out of bounds, during the floor exercises.
Women's gymnastics is just not the same, since Nadia…huh?

  40. 40

That's like the Yankees celebrating a win over the local slow pitch team. Puh-lease - if this team *doesn't* win they should all hang their heads in shame. And when they do win, well, what else were they supposed to do? It doesn't make sense that professional highly paid athletes are competing in the Olympics, a supposed venue for amateur sport.

  41. 41

    noooo

  42. 42

It was a great game. I'm from Akron, Ohio originally. Go LeBron!!!!!!!

  43. 43

i wanted china to win. but w.e
also. thers lots of celebrities dying nowadays.

  44. JM. says – reply to this

    44

man, these US women's gymnasts is corrupt. they takin' falls left and right.

  45. 45

What an awesome game. I have never watched a basketball game in my life. LOVED IT! USA ALL THE WAY.
    One World One Dream..Beijing 2008

  46. 46

I think sporting events would interest me a lot more if it was always country vs. country.

  47. 47

I'm not watching the Olympics. I'm boycotting…and I don't care really. Summer Olympics are dull, now figure skating is where it's at!

  48. 48

    Re: LadyOblada

"I have the biggest crush on Yao Ming."

    No pun intended? :)

  49. 49

    USA!

  50. 50

Argentina will be a force to be reckoned with…

  51. 51

    fuck team usa

  52. 52

Total domination. It was a boring game to watch, though.

The later games will be much better, I hope!

  53. 53

    DWAYNE WADE!!!! REPRESENTING MIAMI!!

  54. 54

  55. 55

Who cares about these whiny losers! Kobe is a moron. I hope the so called 'redeem team gut's their sorry asses wiped across the court. Kobe sucks, the Lakers suck. Go to a Lakers game in Los Angeles anymore and you will be surround by soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo many low class people! Gangbangers, lose class rappers, assorted hoodlums and other morons.
