Bad News For Harry Potter Fans

There will be NO Harry Potter movie this November.
We repeat.
No Harry Potter movie this November, as previously expected and announced.
The popular franchise's release has been postponed to July 2009, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The studio, Warner Bros. is blaming the Writers' Strike.
Because of the strike, some of the big 'tentpole' movies they were counting on for Summer 2009 won't be ready, so they'll need HP to get them through next year's big season.
They say:
"Like every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films-changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of," he said. "We agreed the best strategy was to move 'Half-Blood Prince' to July, where it perfectly fills the gap for a major tent pole release for mid-summer."

We're expecting the Twilight movie coming out in the fall to give us a good fix!

first off, I thought Twilight wasn't scheduled to come out till December… second, to the girl who called Twilight predictable… if you read the Harry Potter books already, there's not a whole lot of surprise is there? I'm not saying Twilight isn't predictable, but we're talking about the movies remember…
third, I was feeling like Harry Potter and Twilight in one season was a little hefty for me. Getting out to the movies is EXPENSIVE these days. The popcorn costs as much as a ticket!
As long as I have one good flashy book-silver screen movie to watch this fall/winter, I'll be okay if HP doesn't come out till next Summer.

Potter is for a younger audience, (and adults who are young-at-heart), while Twilight, (New Moon, Eclipse & Breaking Dawn), are for teens and upwards. While I admire JK Rowlings works, I prefer the conciseness of brilliant STEPHENIE MEYER. Afterall, there's certainly room in this world for other distinguised writers besides JK Rowlings.

Funny how studios keep shelving movies and all blaming it on the writers' strike. If they don't watch out the actors in HP will be too old to play 17-year olds for Deathly Hallows. Tom is 21, Rupert is 20, Daniel is 19, and Emma is 18. So they'll all be in their 20s by the time they get around to filming the second part of DH (it's been split into two movies).

While I totally sympathize with the people who have to wait for Harry Potter, I'm selfishly happy about it: I was going to be in Ecuador when it originally came out, but, if this story happens to be true, I'll be able to see it when it comes out (which makes me happy, since HBP was one of my favorite books)!
But I agree that July is WAY too long… I'd settle for Christmas… so long as I'm back in the country!

Just saw the STAR WARS CLONE WARS movie today. They showed a preview for the new Harry Potter movie, and there were movie posters all over the theatre for a NOVEMBER release Perez! You might want to double check your info before spreading the news. I think the theatres would be better informed than you!

ppl can't begin to compare twilight to Harry Potter,
because infact, Harry Potter has been around for /way/ longer.
So in my opinion, any comparisons between the two is unfair to Twilight (the newcomer), which is doing exceptionally well for something that has barely had its time to shine. We can't predict what will happen with the movie or its sales, so we'll just have to settle for waiting.
