The U.S. swimmer is attempting to break the record set by Mark Spitz of winning the most gold medals in one Olympic Games. That record is 7.
Thus far, Phelps has won 5 gold medals and set 5 world records.
Friday, he swam again.
So, how'd he do????
Well, he's pretty much unstoppable.
He did it!!!!!!! He did it!!!!!!
Michael won the 200-meter individual medley on Friday.
AND, yet again, he set another world record!!!!!
Phelps took home the gold. That's his sixth of this game. And his 12th Olympic gold medal overall.
6 gold medals down, only two more to go to accomplish the never-been-done-before.
Amazing!

i don't particularly follow swimming nor am i watching the Olympics but i hope he does it! he does make America proud, and he's one of the athletes that should be rewarded for their pure unadulterated talent!
absolutely breathtaking to watch him swim…. seems almost inhuman !! thanks for being a great athlete for ALL OF US this year !! USA !!!

And if they want to continue to announce Michael Phelps, it's because LOOK at how far he's come. He's won gold in every event he's been in.

Yes, Michael Phelps is an amazing swimmer, but I feel bad for the other amazing athletes who are pushed aside because the media CONSTANTLY talks about this goon. The American women just won gold & silver in gymnastics and we hear about…Michael Phelps. I'm fucking over him and his gummy smile.

Michael Phelps is absolute PERFECTION!!!! he deserves every second of media coverage that he gets and he's gorgeous!
Phelps is a true inspiration. He works 4 hours a day everyday to achieve his goals. That is a true commitment and if that doesn't show his passion and drive for the sport, I don't know what does. He deserves every gold medal he has worked for and if he keeps completing his races in first, there's no reason why he shouldn't deserve it. If he gets his 8 gold medals or not, he is still a true inspiration and a great gift to swimming.
