Almost all politicians have been infected by the liar bug. And, now, so have their families!
Cindy McCain has been hanging out in D.C. too much cause she's caught the bug.
Mrs. McCain has gone on and on about living life as an 'only child.'
One LITTLE problem!!!!
She has a half-sister who she's known about, according to National Public Radio. In fact, Cindy and her sister hung out from time to time when they were growing up.
NPR points out that Cindy routinely uses the phrase "only child," as she did on CNN last month. "I grew up with my dad," she said then. "I'm an only child. My father was a cowboy, and he really loved me very much, but I think he wanted a son occasionally."
The wannabe first lady has also been described that way by news organizations from The New Yorker and The New York Times to Newsweek and ABC.
Cindy's half-sis, Kathleen Hensley Portalski, has spoken out.
She tells NPR, "I'm upset. I'm angry. It makes me feel like a nonperson, kind of."
Kathleen says she'd like an acknowledgment and an apology.
When NPR asked the McCain campaign — specifically, Cindy McCain — to comment or respond, neither replied.
What's up with that????

she said "I'm an only child"…she should have said "I grew up as an only child" and she should have acknowledge that she has a half sister…and they did see each other from time to time. I think she was embarrassed to admit it.
My closest sister is 10 years older than me. My parents had three in a row, then 10 years later, there was me.
I was raised as an only child. When I was a toddler, they were in school. When they were out of school (summer and holidays) they were elsewhere.
By the time I was 8 they were GONE. To other states. I rarely saw them again.

I am not an only child but was "raised" an only child, as my "brothers" were decades older and out of the house and estranged from the family, mainly because they're overgrown hippie slackers who are probably also devout Obama supporters…he seems to attract that type.

She is Special Need Teacher.
After her father died, she became Chairman of his company. Sales have double since she was taken over from her father.
She is involved around the world clearing land mines - travels to these
countries on a detonation team and service on their board.
They have a 19 year old serving in Iraq, another son in the Naval Academy,
a daughter recently graduated from Columbia Univ., an adopted daughter in
high school, and a son who is the finance guy at her firm.
She has a Family Foundation for children's causes.
In 1991, Mrs. McCain came across a girl in an orphanage in Bangladesh.
Mother Teresa implored Mrs. McCain to take the baby with severe cleft
palate. The couple adopted the girl who has had a dozen operations to repair her cleft palate and other medical problems.
She's active with 'Halo Trust' - to clear land mines, provide water and food in
war ravaged and developing countries.
She will join an overseas mission of 'Operation Smile', a charity for
corrective surgery on children's faces.

I know as of last year, McCain was the ONLY member of congress with a child serving in Iraq. And while he could be talking about that fact nonstop and trying to use it to his benefit in the election, he rarely even mentions it - even when democrats insinuate that McCain doesn't care as much about our troops as they do. Of course he does - his son is an infantry officer serving on the front lines!! The McCains just have class.
I am the youngest in my family- I am the only product of my mom's second marriage. One of my sisters is 10 years older than me and the other is 13 years older than me. My oldest sister moved out when I was 5 and my second oldest moved out when I was about 9 or 10,so I grew up as an "only child" as well. That being said, I would NEVER say that I am an only child if anyone asked me because it's not true. Just because I didn't grow up with my sisters, that doesn't mean they don't exist. I might not know my sisters all that well, but we share the same mother and we even look similar. If they told people that they didn't have a little sister it would obviously upset me because they do. Just another reason to dislike Cindy McCain.
I'm sorry, but I have a half-sibling from which I am estranged, and I always tell other people I'm an only child. Its nobodies business if and why she's estranged from her step-sister, and its not a situation that most people can understand unless they are there!
I can totally relate to Cindy Mc Cain because I, too am a only child with a half sister who is 16 years younger than myself. I'm sure most people with siblings can't relate to her statement but I can since I didn't grow up with my half sibling. Cindy McCain does give off a vibe of kuhrazy though and I can see where Perez is coming from!!!

Woa, Perez, back up. I have a 1/2 sister, too. She's 20 years younger than me, and yes, "growing up," we've visting frequently, but she is absolutely being raised like an only child. I don't relish that thought, but it is the truth of it. And, perhaps the pieces of Cindy's comments you are publishing are not the full stories of what she has said. My baby sister would also say she is an only child and then qualify later once she knows people that she has an older sib. Not every discuss divorces and remarriages right off the bat - makes other people uncomfortable. That said, GO Obama! And Michelle rocks! honestly, just because you have a half-sister doesn't mean you automatically can't feel like an only child. if she didn't live with her and only saw her a few times a month/year, how is she supposed to feel? she did grow up as the only child in that house. just because you have siblings doesn't mean you never feel like an only child. i have siblings & have often felt like one myself. why? because my siblings don't live with me. in fact, i barely saw them up until these past few months.

Um half siblings are a touchy issue especially if they are from divorces and they are estranged. If they are half siblings and live and grow up together that's a whole other ballgame. I don't blame people one bit if they aren't in touch with estranged siblings. They don't have to acknowlegde them as siblings because they don't think of them that way.
