The Church Slams Ricky Martin

Not everyone is happy with Ricky Martin's new twinsies!
The Catholic church's Cardinal of Honduras, Oscar Andres Rodriguez, has accused the singer of going against human dignity!
According to a new report, on a visit to Chile, the Catholic leader said, "What Martin did diminishes the dignity of a human being. You can't just buy or rent life. It's even worse when someone famous and in the public eye is doing it."
Then there's Mexican talk show host Esteban Arce who said, "I don't think it's right to deny children of maternal figures, just because you have a big ego."
The Catholic church being homophobic, what's new?
Does the Cardinal feel the same way about hetero couples who 'hire' a surrogate?
Oh and in case you didn't know, Ricky's surrogate mother is rumored to be one of his cousins.

lol- PErez you love it dont you?? So you werent able to find out who the egg donor is huh??
your first post states that "The children, delivered via gestational surrogacy," meaining - those babys are not his cousins -she is not the baby mama- I wonder who is?? hmmm…..
ricky god bless you and be nice!!!
church people, get a life!!!
The cousins baby that is sort of sick to think about it. Why couldnt he do it a natural way instead of having someone do it for you isnt that what a parent is a process that you created. Life is like a mcdonalds drive thru you get it and go with no repercussions for it done. The babies are going to grow up probally a little messed up once they find out what ricky did.
Ugh….Catholics….spread hate and they think it's ok. GOD wouldn't mind you judging others…..So i guess it's not right to adopt babies? But stupid people or straight people "BREEDERS" can have kids for no reason or at 15 and thats ok? GO F*CK YOURSELVES, We don't need your opinion or approval on anything, keep judging us and having hate protests, im sure god loves the idea, you'll be going to heaven for sure……
Okay, I never do this, but I feel that someone has to stand up for the Catholic Church.
First, Perez, as others have stated the Catholic Church does indeed frown upon IVF, surrogacy, birth control, etc. regardless of whether you are heterosexual or homosexual. The Church believes that these methods go against the sanctity of life. Whether or not you agree with that (if you are not Catholic) is up to you. I'm sorry, but you can't say you're Catholic and be for abortion, etc.
Second, to everybody who has kindly reminded us all of the numerous tragedies that have occurred in the Catholic Church in regards to priests molesting boys, yes it was a horrible thing. What you overlook though are several things. The Church does not condone such a horrible act, never has and never will. Yes, there have been evil men in the Church who have committed evil and hypocritical acts, but what they did does not represent the Catholic Church, the Vatican or the Church's teachings in general. George W. Bush has been a horrible president, but that doesn't mean his actions represent our country as obviously most Americans don't agree with him. As I mentioned earlier, just because you say you're Catholic doesn't mean you are if you don't actually practice what the Church preaches. This goes for people of any religion or ideology. Anyone can claim to be anything without understanding or following what their religion or ideology actually preaches.
Third, I am saddened that the evils of some men have caused people who are not Catholic to overlook the messages of love that the Church preaches and cloud people's judgement. The Church is not "homophobic," Perez. They do not fear homosexuals. Catholics believe that God loves everybody but that homosexuality is wrong. That doesn't mean you are thought less of, it's just a lifestyle the Church cannot support based on the teachings of the Bible.
The Church has indeed faced many troubling issues such as the priest scandals, and evil people have made their way into positions they should not have gotten, but that doesn't mean that the Church itself is evil.
Educate yourselves before you comment - otherwise you'll look like a trigger-happy buffoon. Remember, everyone has the right to his or her own opinion as many of you like to point out. Keep that in mind when you comment on the teachings of a religion. You don't have to agree with it, but show some respect at least.
Livin' la Vida Loco!
So what if it´s one of his cousins? Women have been surrogates for their daugthers, therefore giving birth to their own grandchild. Moms, sisters, cousins it doesn´t matter, it´s a really selfless thing to do and nothing "eeewww" about it.
just adopt instead ricky
Re: Unbiased87 – I can understand why you are standing up for Catholicism…I really can. But, it's just not for everyone. I agree with you, in that there have been 'evil men' (and, women….let's not forget the vicious, cruel, sexually-repressed nuns), who took advantage of smaller, younger children. But, to give the Vatican, Archdiocese and parish a reprieve, from these heinous crimes, is completely wrong. I have read and researched MANY instances where the Vatican and Archdiocese neglected to investigate rape/molestation.
In case you are wondering…I was raised Catholic (I was FORCED to attend Church and Sunday School EVERY week, whether I wanted to go or not). Did my attending church, Sunday school, singing ALL of the hymns, kneeling for all of the prayers, lighting candles and my contribution to the collection plate (each week) save me from the horrendous physical, emotional, sexual abuse (which included rape) that was inflicted upon me, and my siblings? No, it didn't.
Religion is the ultimate joke/riddle. You stated that "The Church does not condone such a horrible act"….well, the Church may not (depending on which priest you confess to), but….it sure seems like God is 'playing favorites', to me.
His cousin?
Ha, that sounds weird.
But, I think it's his choice and his kids.. not the churches.
Why is it that when a gay celebrity wants to adopt/have a child there is all kinds of controversy around it…."You can't just buy or rent life. It's even worse when someone famous and in the public eye doing it." How come no one said anything when angelina or madonna adopted?!?!?!?!
I am not part of the gay community but it effin pisses me off when poeple do that….such a double stansard because of who he finds attractive or because he doesnt have his own uterus…….
FUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!
Re: HeebieJeebie –
thanks but perez just said that in the post dummy
Re: Anonymous –
First, let me say that my heart goes truly out to you and your siblings. The man (or men) who did that to you and your family are truly sick and twisted. I have never been in your position but I can see your point when it came to some individuals letting the issue fly under the radar. That is indeed very serious and upsetting to here.
I hope that some of your wounds have begun to heal. Again, my heart goes out to you and your family.
Re: Unbiased87 –
If you so choose to be catholic and fallow the teaching of the bible, then so be it. But I think why so many people get upset is that the 'church' seems to put its nose in musiness where it was not asked to be or even wanted there. If Ricki Martin decided he wanted to be a father and he had the resorces to do so, what business of the church is it? Why is it that the 'church' believes that they can judge anyone they choose?? Not everyone follows catholisism, so why is it they they are 'allowed' the pass judgement??
They should mind thier business and let people live how they choose. Not everyone on earth has to be 'just like them'….frankly who would want to be.
Catholics that wear condoms are going to hell! If, like the church says sex is for repoduction people that hire a surrogate are just horny pervs. they are going to hell to!! Wish they would go today.

The church isn't necessarily sticking its nose in other people's business. When celebrities like Ricky Martin, in this case, who are apparently catholic do something that goes against the teachings of their faith, the church steps up to say that his actions (Martin's) go against the teachings of the faith he follows, and that because he does it does not mean that the church supports it. Does that make sense? For instance, the church doesn't want people who are catholic to think that celebrities and politicians who claim to be catholic while committing actions against the teachings of the church means that the church has changed its stance on those particular issues or that it condones the celebrity or politician in question.
In short, the church is simply trying to clarify its true stances on issues. It does not want people to think that a celebrity who claims to be catholic but goes against the teachings of the church is condoned. In case you haven't noticed, the governor of Kansas has been refused Communion until she changes her stance on abortion as abortion can never be tolerated in the church. You may not agree with how the church works or how it conducts itself but I promise you that the church does not pry into people's business. That's why we have confession, so you can talk about your personal issues on your own watch.
I hope that cleared some questions up or misunderstandings. I'm not asking you to agree with me, just to understand what the Catholic Church is trying to do by commenting about Ricky Martin.
WHEN WILL HE JUST COME OUT? LOL, CREEPY.
his COUSIN!!? eww!! that's just sooo wrong!
Haha, This is all just a fake and cover up so people don;t know he's married to me. ;]
He just doesn't know it yet….
