John McCain has chosen Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his Vice Presidential running-mate, the Associate Press is reporting.
This is historic!!!!
In January, we will either have our first African-American President or our first female Vice-President!!!!!!!!!!!
Walls are being broken down and ceilings shattered in America.

This…is not a good thing. Take a look at her voting record. She's a monster. Who cares if she's a woman? Getting excited about that just reminds me of the idiots who are saying they either won't vote at all or will vote for McCain just because Hillary didn't clinch the nomination. You don't vote for a PERSON, you vote for POLICY.
Obama is too skinny and his ears stick out, there is no way I could vote for him. Plus Joe Biden, Wasn't he grouchy dad in the Beethoven movies?
About what exactly are you excited? McCain picked a running mate because of her gender, not qualifications. American women should be insulted! He thinks that you are so completely uniformed that you will vote along gender lines. That's gender tokenism! It's such an insult! Is she supposed to be the face of American women? A woman who has chosen a demanding political career over the needs of her handicapped baby? Is she going to use her baby to gain sympathy for her campaign? I am all about equal opportuntity but this is a mockery of everything the feminist movement and other equal rights movements have strived for. McCain should be ashamed of himself!

She a woman, may lack experience, HOWEVER, if the complaint was the vice presidency was way too strong (as dems have argued in the past), then this pick is excellent. Remember people, Obama and Biden has the corruption of the hill. Has really no executive experience and allows lobbyists to get the best of them. Palin is a governor and has 2 years over Obama and Biden in executive experience on a national level. Although, I wish he chose the female Texan senator… I nonetheless think she is a good choice. Someone new.
And whoever says 4 years the same, is complete BS… all presidents are different.
I am not a McCain supporter but he definitely shaken things up by choosing Palin as his running mate. As a woman it is exciting to see that a woman has a shot at the Vice Presidency, but as a liberal I could never support nor vote for the McCain/Palin ticket. I do believe that if there wasn’t so much media attention on Barack Obama and his historical run for the presidency then McCain would have never considered Palin. McCain is trying to make history as well and by choosing a virtual unknown such as Palin he definitely will garner much attention. The fact that she is a Washington outsider and actually a few years younger than Obama definitely goes against McCain’s argument that Obama is too inexperienced to lead the country…..If anything I wish that Obama would have continued making history by choosing Clinton as his VP. That definitely would have been the winning ticket…

Lets face it…the three reasons he choose her today. shes young shes a women and it was the day after the democratic national convention. so the fact that McCain has picked his vp today dosent surprise me. give me a more obvious reasons why and I wont be such a hater.

Of course, I realize I'm a few years older than Perez so I guess I remember this. Mondale chose a liberal, pro-choice woman as his running mate in '84. Talk about balls! And he wasn't trying to pull a sympathy vote ala McCain. He had the guts to choose a woman without trying to manipulate a vote.

Actually there already has been a female VP running mate-and she was Democrat-Geraldine Ferraro back in 1984. So once again, Republicans are behind the times. However this is the first GOP female VP running mate, so in that sense a wall has been torn down, though Kay Bailey Hutchinson would have been a stronger more qualified choice-even if I don't agree with anything she has to offer.

Palin has focused on energy and natural resources policy during her short stint in office, and she is known for her support of drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, a position opposed by McCain but supported by many grass-roots Republicans.

What's the concern about her being 2nd in line? She has more experience than Osama who has NEVER been in charge of ANYTHING and he's going to be 1st in line! Obama is nothing more than a jr senator who's missed most votes, never sponsored legislation and was a bake sale coordinator in Chicago when he wasn't selling coke to white kids.
