In response to this post we did earlier in the week, we just got this very troubling emails:
"Greetings…
Could you please delete our listing from your website, one of our volunteers thought that it might be a good idea to get the word out to people by being on this site , but after seeing the comments that we get and the disgusting stuff that you publish we are asking if you would kindly delete us from this site. Please confirm back to us that you have been able to do this for us. I believe that we just lost a $25,000 grant yesterday from and organization that was about to donate to our cause after they found out that we were on your site. Do you have any way of offsetting this loss for us?!

Perez - do you ever read some of the comments on this site? Some of them are really vile. I see you have removed all of the comments from this original post. I have to assume that some of them were highly inappropriate for a charitable organization. Your heart was in the right place originally - but now I think it is set on revenge. I feel bad for all of the nasty e-mails and calls this group is going to get. They are just trying to help kids.

Sounds to me like the charity is trying to cash on on this… could be they granted you permission and then staged this $25,000 loss to make you feel bad. I've worked with non profits and I've never heard of them losing donations to anything this trivial… and I've seen much worse instances. It doesn't make sense or add up.
They might not agree with what you write… but even the idiots that trash you still come here and up your $$… they know a cash cow when they see one.

someone checked the company's marketing and an appearance on your site counts as such.

Perez, let's face it…your website isn't the place to be posting charity ads. I know you meant well by it, but it's like when you post stuff about politics on here…isn't this supposed to be a gossip site?? And it not just the things that you post on here that are sometimes inappropriate…there are lots of people that post the most vulgar and stupid comments on here, and if I was running a charity, I'd have to think twice about posting things on here.
They should be thanking you, Perez. I'm sure many of your readers have already visited their website. As a member of the non-profit workforce I would like to personally thank you for your contributions to local and national charities and non-profit organizations. You put the word out about these worthy endeavors to many people who would not go looking for them otherwise.

It's sad that happened when you were trying to help. But you aren't the one who lost $25k, and yeah, I can see why it would happen to them. Your response to them asking you to remove it from your site has me wondering, do you really care about helping them? Or do you just love the idea of yourself as someone who helps? I have a response for the Gilbertsons - Why should PerezHilton.com offset any loss that their organization claims to be a direct result of someone trying to GET them support? Their dispute should be taken up with the organization who pulled their grant money - not someone who tried to spread the word of their cause.
Plus, there is nothing that prevents someone from posting a link to any website on their own site. How dare these people try to blame this alleged loss of money from a small-minded would-be benefactor and ask how Perez might offset their loss? I never understood why you started posting charity links anyways. I refuse to click on them, find them annoying, and simply skip over them. Are you trying to even out your karma by posting these charities? It would make more sense if you contacted the charity and got their blessing to post their link rather than just cold linking. Maybe they don't want your support.

Perez, Please know that not all of your readers are "vile and stupid" and neither are you. I'm 36 years old, I have a Master's degree and I own my own company. I find your website an amusing and much needed mental break from the stresses and complexities of life. Yes, some of the things you post are debatable, but it is obvious that everything is done in a tongue-in-cheek manner. I would hope that America would be wise enough to see the humor and satire in your postings rather than feel the need to judge you in such a black and white manner. Then again this is the country that elected George Bush President. Twice.
I enjoy learning about different non-profit organizations through your website and have donated to them on occasion. I am sorry that people are not smart enough to appreciate this exposure and take it for what it is - free publicity. What a dickhead. I'd tell him that showing his site and putting it in the minds of tens of thousands of people is offsetting to that loss. I had never even heard of his charity before now and with an attitude like that, I would never donate.

I'm with you 100%. There's no logic to a supposed donor pulling support from an organization because they don't like the speech, website, persona, etc. of another supporter of the organization (though I'm no Pollyanna and know it happens).
It's ridiculous to see anyone actually calling for Perez to edit his blog to the likings of ANYONE else….it's on the conscience of the group who pulled the $25K donation, and the charity itself for not taking responsibility for its actions.
I understand they may not like some things on this site. I am a regular reader and there have been several things I've been repulsed by in the past. That said, how many people do you ever agree with 100% of the time? And are all of Perez's entries repulsive, all comments spammy and disgusting? No-and in fact it was a pleasant surprise to me when Perez started using his high profile to draw attention and support to those in need of help. It's disappointing that both the supposed $25K donor, and charity in question, couldn't be more thoughtful about this, agree to disagree to some extent but think about the greater good that could come from the original posting here.

You say the Perez is just using that to up his own image. Is that something you would do? That is so senseless. I read perezhilton.com and i also contribute to charities and political campaigns, as well. I would have given money to it, but thankfully, I logged on and read this update just as I was about to dig in my pocket, and now I am going to give my money to another charity that doesn't discriminate where it comes from. This is pathetic. Keep doing what you do, Papi!

Total BS!!! You were helping and made so many people aware of their cause. They should be thanking you. Why would they want to accept a grant from an organization that would deny them money because of something so insignificant? You're the best and I appreciate the awareness you are bringing to us!

lol you should really make sure that the dude really sent you that email.. the whole email seems weird. why would he say that if you're not doing anything wrong? why would he say "I believe that we just lost a $25,000 grant yesterday from and organization that was about to donate to our cause after they found out that we were on your site. Do you have any way of offsetting this loss for us?!" kinda odd but anyway you should at least disable comments on that type of posts?
i think it's great you run charity ads on your site. you do get all walks of life reading here..even the rich and famous..we all know celebrities read it. there is NO PROOF that they 'lost' a 25,000 donation. plus, any investor that pulled out that kind of money probably doesn't really even care about kids that much. it's not about you it's about people looking for money and attention.
worked for a small charity years ago-$25 is alot for some of these budgets. It could be a huge loss. It was not right to ask you for the money, BUT You should have not printed the second letter-more idiots will respond to it. Working in the charity sector can be satisifying at times, but extremely hard. You got to realize that volunteers are probably reading these comments and are offended by them. And no one can yell at the person who withdrew the contribution, it was their right, unfortunately. And yes, it does happen, some people/companies who donate are extremely picky.
