So, what does Team Barack think about John McCain's choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his Vice Presidential running mate.
Well, Obama's spokesperson, Bill Burton, says:
"Today, John McCain put the former mayor of a town of 9,000 with zero foreign policy experience a heartbeat away from the presidency," Obama spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement.
Burton also criticized Palin as a vice presidential pick for her support of oil drilling in the Alaskan wilderness and her anti-abortion stance, referring to the 1973 Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal in the United States.
"Governor Palin shares John McCain's commitment to overturning Roe v. Wade, the agenda of Big Oil and continuing George Bush's failed economic policies. That's not the change we need, it's just more of the same," he said.
So, that's what they say.

If we were being SCIENTIFICALLY honest, part of the father is inside growing in that mother's belly too. And he should also have some say.
Simple fact, if you don't want to get pregnant make sure you don't. If you read the stats, MOST abortions have happened because of people having sex with no birth control, and now they don't want to deal with the consequences. That's over 80% of abortions (could be higher) are done today for.
Be responsible or don't have sex. If you aren't ready to talk about such things with your partner, you aren't ready to have sex with them either.

I think the points everyone is trying to make are
(1) McCain made a lot of derisory comments about Obamas lack of experience (esp in the area of foreign policy) and then chose someone who is not very experienced in this area also.
(2) McCain is old and has had very serious illnesses in his past. Obamas VP is not very likely to have to take over as Obama is young, fit and well. McCains VP has a very high chance of having to go it alone.
(3) A lot of republicans are not happy with Palin, not because she is a woman but because there are more experienced women out there. This lady has some questions over her about abuse of power. McCain may have been able to do better.

Palin has comparable experience to Obama? I am failing to see how that is a logical statement….Being involved in Alaska politics for 4 years cannot, at all, be equated to 4 years in the U.S. Senate, something which I feel as if I need to remind people here, deals with policies at a NATIONAL level.
Palin has zero experience in terms of "nationwide" issues. While Obama has been working, not just on behalf of his Illinois constitution but ALSO the U.S. constituency, Palin has been focused on Alaska….a state that does not have even close to the same issues as the rest of the U.S.
She's focused on wildlife and oil - how is that supposed to translate into a successful vice presidency and possible presidency? (Let's face it, McCain is 72).

First of all, to all those equating Palin and Obama's experience and readiness to lead the nation, I want to point out that Obama has an ivy league education and was the first african american editor of the harvard law review, as supposed to Palin's single BA from Idaho state in journalism — not to mention the difference between experience in washington, and how washington politics work versus office in a small and rural state.
The two are not comparable, and while Obama has gotten where he has today based on merit and hard work, Palin was chosen by McCain as a political and reactionary move to win votes, a fact both democratic and republicaan pundits have observed.
Secondly, for those who are still holding onto Obama's supposed racism… there is a deep sadness to this preoccupation and the fact that so many refuse to this day to recognize that 400 years of slavery, and 100 years of legal rape, lynching and beating is not simply forgotten or erased because a law changes. Jeremiah Wright, a preacher who was well known in Washington, and friends with the clintons, never did more than articulate that history and that pain.
Send McCain back to Vietnam.

I only have one argument for not voting. The President has the power to name Supreme Court Justices. Probably his most powerful position. These decisions have a lasting effect since the Justice is in position until they give it up. This can be crucial. Regardless of all the rhetoric noise, it is important to get someone in the office that best represents your morals and beliefs. No matter what they are. It's not about policy but about the power from the bench. Presidents come and go but Supreme Court justices are permanent. I think you could at least figure out which guy represents your ideals and go vote for him.

Obama was in the United States senate for 149 before he decided he was ready to run for the presidency. She's been governor longer SHE has more experience. I was strongly in favor of Hillary and feel that what went down during the primary was WRONG. Obama is a product of teh Chicago Mayor daley junta and I did not think anything could ever make me vote for him.
I had planned to either write in Hillary's name or vote for McCain. Now I am voting for Obama, no question. McCain showed a lack of judgement an aggressive stupidity and antagonism toward the environment and women's rights when he chose this pageant runner up who panders to the big boys to get her little place of power.

That was an arrogant ignorant thing to say. People support their candidates b/c what their candidate stands for or says resonates w/ them. It's that simple.
So I've been reading these posts and this is what I think.
1)McCain choosing this woman was an act of strategic DESPERATION. If he was going up an "experienced" candidate, would she have made the cut? No! When he saw the "experience" argument wasn't enough to steer away Obama he calls for the ringer.
2) He LIES to the American people that he is going to find the most qualified Republican to be his VP, does she meet that criteria? NO! He only picks her b/c she's female… that's it. Since when does gender make you qualified for a position?
3) The woman goes on National TV and says she knows NOTHING of what the VP does, Am I crazy… If someone has to explain to her the role of VP who's going to explain the role of PRESIDENT to her should McCain croak?-

No one is trying to. Roe VS Wade was a shill case made by sleazy agenda driven politicians and lawyers to make a name for themselves.
