I'd like to give you my opinion, but can you be more specific on which mistakes you're talking about? His leaving his first wife, keating 5, or both. He said he regreted not being able to workout his first marriage. I know it was wrong for him to leave, but war really does change a man, especially being tortured for many years. Yes, i think it was wrong, but the man has admitted his mistake on national tv. As far as the Keating 5 goes, i think he made an error in judgement. He's also admitted he made an error there too. I am a man of forgiveness. I don't hold a grudge, but at least Senator McCain has come clean, he's said he's screwed up. If Senator Obama we're to do the same thing I would be willing to believe him more. I mean how can he say he went to Rev Wright's church for so many years and never heard hate speech? Why can't he admit he's friends with William Ayers? Why won't he use his full name? He says he admires his father so much but refuses to be called by the name his father gave him. Why does he have a brother in Kenya living on about $1 a month? He talks about him in his book. Why did he refer to his white grandmother as a "typical white person" because she was afraid of black folk. I find comments like that very offensive, since my wife is white. It's his refusal to answer certain questions or admit his mistakes that keeps me from being able to trust him.

Relationships fall apart all the time, and like you mentioned, considering what they both went through, no one should judge without taking a good long look into themselves. Yes, part of what I was referring to was the Keating incident. He voted against MLK JR day which may not be a big deal to most, but that man and his wife are hero's of mine, so to me it matters. Given the racial tension in our country (please refer to all of marieleed's post's, especially the last one where she seems to decide that since I have shown myself as white I am worth speaking to as a human) I do not blame the man for not using the middle name Hussein. I remember all the tasteless jokes and comparisons about his middle name (and last name comparisons to Osama. I am also pro-choice. I personally could never have an abortion, but I'm not going to judge someone who does, for whatever reason. I think the women who use abortions as birth control are disgusting, and should be allowed to be fixed, or even required to be. I think we have enough unwanted and abused children as it is, and we have a population problem that is directly linked, in my opinion, to our environmental problems. (An issue that McCain is not strong enough on for me). While I don't see abortion as a way for population control, I guess I just think any woman who makes that choice shouldn't be a mother anyway. (To be clear, I am absolutely against partial birth abortions, and would like to see the morning after pill made cheaply and available easily so that this isn't an issue) But I digress.

I agree that Martin Luther King Jr. should have a holiday. In an interview with NBC he admitted he made a mistake and regretted it. Here's a question though. How come MLK Jr. has a federal holiday but Abraham Lincoln doesn't? He freed the slaves and brought the country back together. Surely you would agree he went against the grain long before Rev. King. I'm getting off track though. In that same respect though didn't Mr. Obama refer to his grandmother as a typical white person? I'm sure he's not racist, he made a mistake as well. There are a few more small points, but they are just that. Not huge points, but areas where I disagree. Like I said, I admire him, respect him, and will be proud to call him my President if he is elected. Now, as to the issues you raised with Obama. As for his "typical white woman" comment, I don't see the big deal. He misspoke or certainly phrased it the wrong way, but there is a ton of truth in what he was saying. He was talking about a knee jerk reaction that is embedded, however open minded a person may try to be, in all of us. It's sad and it's true. But I do believe many in the media twisted that particular part of the quote to put people up in arms since the race card is so so sensitive in this election

I was born and raised in Los Angeles and I have seen plenty of racism. I've been told to go back to Mexico, even though the person saying this to me had no idea i was a Marine or many years. I have heard the "N" word plenty of times in California. In fact I have heard more rude comments about me being in the military, and being Hispanic than anything in California. Racism still exists, you just have to turn the other cheek and move on.

As for Lincoln, I don't think he has a national holiday because, for one, it's a bit sticky to give a man a holiday because he is equated with freeing the slaves because by doing that thousands upon thousands had to die. But mostly I think it's because his motivation for war was not about slavery. That's not why the civil war happened. It was certainly a huge point of contention and something he was fervently against, but he did not go to war because of it. The civil war was fought (as most wars are) primarily over money and power.

I think morality has just taken a dive. Not all, but a lot of parents are all about being their kids friends instead of being their parents. As for Ayers, I believe that to be another smear campaign, one that his camp has briefly acknowledged but has not gone out on a limb to deny. And I think that's the right course of action. I don't believe it deserves all the press it's getting. There is no way Obama was friends with the man when he was in the group, he only met him after Ayer's became a somewhat respected member of his community, a seemingly respected professor, someone who fights for the little people. I find it improbable Obama bought the house near Ayers because "his buddy" lived near by. As for the campaign contribution, I don't think that should play against Obama, just as the violent racists for McCain who spout filth while declaring their support for him, should be held against MCCain. I think it's guilt by association, simple as that

As a Hillary supporter, I am offended. I did not vote for Hillary just because she is a woman. I voted her for her for who she is and what she has accomplished as a senator. What happens is, ON BOTH SIDES they figured out the top 10 people that the person on either side will pic for VP. They get bad press ready for each of those people. Things that happened in the past, mistakes, bad dealings etc. And as soon as they are announced, They regurgitate the old news back up again to make character assassinations. BOTH SIDES do it. Not just the left or the right.

In the end all that will matter is the debates. Obama IS a good speaker, but McCain has more experience and has handled good speakers in the past.

Actually, you're wrong…I was back to work/in class after 3 days of having my son..Birth is not as traumatic as many make it seem. Just because she had a baby does not mean she's an invalid or must stay indoors for several weeks. And you feel bad for her kids because she went back to work? It takes money to raise kids, thus you have to go back to work. Stop being so critical over something so stupid and minute. I think you need to read up on history, the DNC just went on. Every candidate gets a boost after their convention. Why is he a dumbass, because he picked a woman who has experience as a city council member, mayor, and governor? She's been in charge of the military, National Guard CIC. She against unecessary spending, in fact she sold a jet that was purchased with public funds on ebay and returned the money to the state. She has raised 5 children and taken on her own corrupt party there in Alaska, and won! She has more experience than Obama who is his party's front-runner. Obama has only shown up to work a total of 143 days, what has he been in charge of? McCain has addressed that issue and said he regreted it. War does change a man though. I have been in two so far and I can't imagine what it would be like to be constantly tortured like McCain was for years. Would you be ok if someone broke your arms and tortured you for years? He was also offered a chance to be released early, and declined it.
