Perez, I came here to hear celebrity news and I've been coming here a long time, but your personal vendetta's towards the republican party are a little out of hand……..I personally could care less who you vote for, but the negativity here is just over abundant..This is a blog or so I thought about Hollywood, if I wanted to hear this sort of childish political banter, I could tune into the many news stations that are on the air and on the web. I come here to get away from it and now am bombarded with it. It's very clear it's going to continue, so count me as one reader you've lost. Maybe when you grow up, I will return and I seriously doubt I am the last one you have lost or the only one…………….

  2. 102

I hope people reading here have more sources for news than just Perez. He's a one-issue gay who apparently doesn't care about anything else.

I would like to hear from a Presidential Nominee one day " That single people yes SINGLE those that are not married or don't have children but work 40 hours + a week will have their taxes lowered". We should be rewarded for not over populating our economy and for being taxed for every fucking New Law or Every fucking new State Tax. It's so not fair that is you're married or you have children you get the easy ticket or you get more during your Tax Refunds. It costs a lot to be single.

Re: CLAUDIA** – wow. you are the idiot.

i think you've forgotten that the majority of congress are democrats. so if you're gonna start pointing fingers, aim in the right direction.

    BOTH PARTIES ARE AT FAULT.

. It's kinda of weird how the Republican National Convention is well empty. I really don't get why they keep picking on Hillary Clinton . Why don't they just say what they really want to say and provably say it when there's no one around. "They don't want Change, especially a Black Negro running for President". I personally don't hate every Republican but for the most part they are dicks. I remember when the Convention was held in New York City. Big Mistake. No one wanted them there. All this Fear and Tension was created. None of these Red Necks from Texas were there when the Tower's Fell. I was. Yet in my city on that week from hell they tortured us with restrain. I for one want to live in a country that has advanced.

Our Relationships with the Over-seas crowd is at the pits. You got to Europe and they pitty us and call us stupid Yankees. How is it that England has evolved and is still rich. We as a country are in so much debt over a war that was started by Past Generation's of Personal Interest that when I get older there won't be anymore Social Security Benefits should I need them. All the middle class and working class are suffering but my Partner's family who are Billion Dollar Developers are living the life. They are not effected and are not in touch with the rest of the world. So if you are a Republican and are defending these people it's because I hope your Family is making 20+ Million a Year or you're a Trust Fund Baby. Cause it you're not then you better start listening and looking for options. I live a very comfortable life but understand that the rest of the world doesn't and we NEED CHANGE.

  8. 108

Can you say HYPOCRITE? Palin and her supporters sont think she should take any blame for raising an unwed mom but they want her to take credit for raising a son in the military who's serving our country. What- she's only responsible for the ones that turn out 'right?'

  9. 109

Every day I begin to hate Sarah Palin more and more.

Re: gaymboy – How is a white VP from Alaska going to understand the various ethnic diversity of the country and address issues relevant to them?

Will all schools have to have moose on the menu now?

  16. 116

    Seriously- quit complaining about Bush.
Get off your ass and off the friggin gossip website and start getting involved instead of sitting here and complaining on a site that has NO RELEVANCE to actual news and daily events. If you want to stay logged into a pretty pink website and bitch all day- then you have some serious thinking to do if you think anyone actually takes you seriously in these matters!

    QUIT BITCHING AND GET INVOLVED!!!!
want a great link to the world?
    try www.DrudgeReport.com
it's the most popular news site— read THAT instead of pink font all day

Re: Ms. Sugar Walls – Unemployment rose almost everywhere in America, last month! Where have you been?!?! However, more workers were employed statewide in July than were working a year earlier — a statistic economists say suggests the Alaska economy is still growing.
Alaska in one of only a handful of states that actually saw economical growth, as reported by the state Department of Labor.

As for their housing market, Alaska claims .67, the lowest foreclosure rate in the nation. Their market is the strongest and getting stronger. National sales have dropped 20%, an only 10% in Alaska.

I could go on, yet…I urge you to get schooled on what you have decided to be reasons why you do not support Palin, as they are lies…unfounded lies. Don't believe the hype, get the facts….

  18. 118

he more McCain says, "No more questions," the more interested the media and the voters will be in why this woman is being protected. With a record that is sketchy yet with negatives and a personal life fraught with questions and challenges, Palin will not be able to hide behind John McCain's ass and avoid honest, and good journalism. The whole truth will come out and soon.

  19. 119

Ah, nothing like blowing smoke up Republican supporter's asses and them buying it, hook, line and sinker. I love how he keeps saying Obama and his 'media friends'. Give me a break, when the Republican's were going after John Kerry last election, they didn't mind one bit that the media was on THEIR side. Poor little Republicans… What a joke.

  20. 120

I guess I shouldn't be surprised by all of the idiotic comments, I mean we are reading Perez Hilton who should just be talking about celebrities but instead brings politics into it. Republicans are not trying to take away a woman's right to choose, EVEN IF THEY DON'T SUPPORT ABORTION BANNING IT WILL NEVER EVER EVER NEVER MAKE IT THROUGH CONGRESS. Duh. I think it would have happened by now if it was going to. So shut up about that. Second, while Obama is trying to proliferate nukes, North Korea is rebuilding their main nuclear development center. You can't get rid of nukes Obama, crazy countries like Russia and North Korea don't care that you have eloquence, they won't do it. It's called survival of the fittest and the second you disarm america, we'll be fucked. BIG TIME. But that's ok because everyone will have free healthcare right? All of us crazy redneck, gun toting, baby loving, gay hating republicans are just too naive to see any of this though. Why don't you fucking lazy asses work hard to make your own money and pay for your own healthcare. It costs $50/month for basic healthcare. Don't go out to dinner every weekend. MAKE SOME FUCKING SACRIFICES FOR ONCE. I swear all you fucking liberal teen angst types are going to ruin this country, along with Obama and his friendly terrorist buddy Ayers. PEREZ, STICK TO WHAT YOU KNOW, CELEBRITIES AND BUTT FUCKING, this political stuff is too advanced for MOST of your readers.

  21. 121

Were we listening to a story about Jesus Christ or John McCain? BTW, wasn't McCain married when he was driveing a Corvette and dating a girl who worked in a bar as an exotic dancer under the name of Marie, the Flame of Florida?

  22. 122

Put Barack next to McCain and you can see how thin Barry's resume really is. Not even paper thin. Hell it looks like cellophane.

  25. 125

Whatever guys, I'm just saying. There are states out there believe it or not that do not allow women to have an abortions. These are not irresponsible women, what about the right to choose what you want to do with your own body? It really doesn't matter to me, I've had my kids, just looking out for you youngins! Vote Republican, just because John McCain was in a POW camp doesn't mean he's the best leader. He's freaking older than my grandfather and he's had Melanoma three times. At least Obama is young and healthy. Whatever! Just more of the same old white man bullshit!

I cant take your political rants anymore. This site is not fun when you do that.

Re: highboo – Try and look at the 10% he didn't vote with Bush.

  30. 130

We saw Dubya bow out and make a speech via satellite like an actor who is too good to show up and accept an award in person. The award for Worst President Ever.

Then a nice tribute to the "great" GOP hope, a former actor. Maybe only a B grade celebrity, Ronald Reagan seemed to always be on stage and his wife Nancy loved the spotlight too.

Fred Thompson, an actual celebrity, took the time to stop by and deliver a decent speech. (full of omissions and half truths) Anaconda's Jon Voight stopped by as well to make us feel good.

Then at last, Joe Lieberman. Not an actual actor, but I believe he is most known the "drama" of 2006 and not his inspiring role as a representative of those who elected.

Sadly, the night was not capped off by the newest world-wide celebrity, Sarah Palin. A former beauty queen and TV personality who still delivers a speech like a cheerleader. (I think she is actually a decent and interesting person in many ways, though I do disagree with her on nearly every major area of concern for Americans.)

On a side note, Fred Thompson was there to replace the Governor of California whom I've heard rumors of staring in a few movies of his own. If only Sunny Bono was still around, he would have fit into tonight's them very well.

  31. 131

    Re: buck

I do put America above partisanship. I love my country immensely. I just find the Country first signs to be conveying a particular message to me personally that those of us who are not Republicans are not for our country. It's not an attack on Republicans…it's my opinion.

  32. 132

Re: cait – So, what you're saying, you stupid cunt, is if the McCain/Palin ticket wins, you're going to abort? This is the problem with Democrats. Open their mouths, and then start thinking later. So, you've been watching "just to laugh at the old men"? Because, why would you want to listen in order to better your position to vote for Obama? Because your stupid, vapid ass probably won't be able to handle that type of conversation, anyway? Shut your mouth AND your legs!

  35. 135

I am totally amazed by how ignorant on the government most of you are. Obama is all words can you name 1 thing he has accomplished? Biden's son is in bed with crooked lobbyist, but you don't hear that in the liberal news. Palin has cut taxes and government spending. If you are voting for Obama based on looks or age then don't vote. Stick with voting for American Idol. Obama brings more government into our business. McCain does not believe in big government. Also, those who say they will move to Europe if McCain wins, please do.

This is the first year that I'm ACTUALLY interested in politics. I wish everyone would REALLY consider looking through John McCain's and Obama's history, his thoughts on war, thoughts about taxes, what he's done for this country, future plans. God has blessed America and will continue to do so which ever candidate wins.

  47. 147

    Re: Tiffy25

I agree on some of your points. I do think it should be clarified though that Obama is not offering free healthcare. There would still be a cost. A big point in his healthcare policy though is that many people with pre-existing conditions are not able to qualify for the $50 healthcare you mention. Qualification is a huge problem, as well as the fact that I'm sure that $50 healthcare plan will be very quick to deny a large percentage of the claims it received in order to be able to offer a plan at that price. There are flaw in both candidates…

  48. 148

Re: Ms. Sugar Walls – Look at her numbers and do your research….don't guess or assume to know, apparently you do not. Another act of ignorance…..it really is sad. you have a computer, and access to the internet…..get your numbers and stories right. Look at the money she has brought in for her state….look at the money. Her state is not in the red. She brought forth reform, taking out many on birbery and unethical trading….hitting the big oil with taxes for her state, as it is her state that they are oil farming….so, we will not be dependant on middle east oil and oil inflation. She has put more money than any other governor, in Alaskan's bank! So much money, in fact, that the Alaskan resident (of at least a year) got a cut from the profits!! Check it out you fool! The only thing in the red is your ass, lol….

Good luck, and hopefully….you will see the light at the end of the tunnel….and find your way out of the Obama-cult!

  49. 149

ummm all their speeches lacked substance and meaning…they're so ridiculous…its become a joke

  50. 150

    Re: Seriously

Except that I am not a Democrat. You are essentially saying that I am ignorant for having a different point of view and obviously did not read anything I wrote because if you had, you would have noticed that I wasn't trying to bash Republicans. You on the other hand have been playing attack dog all throughout the comments with anyone who has a difference in opinion. That isn't ignorance? Obviously you are passionate in your beliefs but you might try putting your anger aside long enough to understand what you are reading and then you would also be able to articulate your response more effectively. I am open to listening…I'm an open-minded person…so please, feel free to enlighten me on your stance and I might just agree here and there with you….

  51. 151

    Uhm, whats so funny?

  52. 152

this is a fucking joke.republicans are destroying this country and giving the US a bad name.the fact that mccain chose palin is almost insulting, thats how desperate it is.picking a woman just to get the hilary vote.it is a JOKE.

  53. 153

Re: Anonymous – Once a long time ago, yes the Republicans were a nobel party! It is so sad to what depths of darkness and depravity it has gone. The white haired, red faced audience at the convention says it all. People struggling to hold onto their last hopes of the 50's American dream that doesn't take responsibility for the outcome of their actions. Look at the list of people behind the latest financial downfall. All the old men stepping down from the banks giving out bad loans. They are all the old guard RP's Did you see those old women with their hair teased up? I bet they sleep with toilet paper tucked in at night not to squish the curls! Sorry to you Republicans out there. Some of you I love but not your party. It is as old and dried up as Barbara Bushes vag. So sad.

  56. 156

Perez, I'm voting for Obama and I still don't appreciate the politics…. I agree with several others, leave it to the news channels and stop alienating your readers!! We don't come to you site for politics!!!!!!!!!!

  57. 157

Re: Tiffy25 – Hi Tiffy, I have a few more things to add. I live in the state of California and I really hope you live here too so I can find out more about this $50 a month healthcare.
You know what else, Tiffy? The republicans are talking non stop about how great this country is. I love America. But we are failing miserably in healthcare. Beyond miserably. You know why this will never change if they stay in office? Because insurance companies are among their biggest campaign contributors. Tiffy, would you fuck with a company that helped get you elected? Didn't think so. Tiffy, I really hope that's not your real name, but it's very fun to say when angry.
I wish I could put ignorant people like you in section 5 housing, out of a job, and with 3 kids to support on several hundred dollars a month subsidy. Then you could experience how hard life can be. "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps" is such bullshit when you don't have access to the resources that make that possible.
    Have a great day, Tiffy.

  63. 163

Give the man a lozenge, please! Even when he was trying to be dynamic, all I could think was, man, is he dull! I'm sure if the speech was given by someone more exciting, it might have been good (to a Republican anyway, which I am most decidedly NOT!). But, in watching the convention coverage last night, none of the speakers were really all that interesting. A boring bunch, if you ask me. Tonight should be more interesting….Guiliani & Huckabee are gonna be slamming the other side while Palin tries to make nice with everybody….yipee…

  64. 164

Re: Anonymous – Nonsense. Egregios wait times in Canada are the exception, not the rule. Most importantly, no one has to mortgage their house (or lose it!) to get health care in Canada. Quit listening to the American ideologues who try to scare you out of getting the access to medical care you need.
The US is the only Western 'democracy' whose citizens are forced to live in fear of a medical situation that could have calamitous consequences for them financially.

Just, what choice to the Repubs offer when they roll out Drop Dead Fred here to address the convention of 1988. Nothing he said was relevant. In case he hasn't noticed, Republicans are the most wasteful spenders ever created in 7 days.

I think he did a wonderful job. It was a great speech - addressing the important topics while defending the party and Palin in a stern yet entertaining way. Did you even actually watch it all the way? Obviously not. Hes absolutely right regarding Obamas tax stance. Stop putting your biased, ignorant rants up Perez, stick with celebrity gossip - thats what we all love you for. Im really beginning to wonder if its worth coming to your site when all it has on it of late is HATE speech against Republicans. Im an Independent and I feel that this country has become way too polarized when it comes to politics. Pay attention to Leibermans speech. The man has got it.

    Divided we FALL.

  75. 175

It's very interesting that the majority of the Obama supporters on this site are commenting on the attractiveness and entertainment value between the democrats & republicans. This proves McCain's ads to be correct in showing Obama to be a ROCKSTAR with no substance. Then again, when you're stupid with a short attention span and only care about looks, Obama is perfect. Grow up democrats! I will vote for the candidates with intelligence and substance. By the way, Fred is awesome!! He would make a GREAT president. It's sad that the young people of America are so obsessed with good-looks, flash and entertainment value. This is the shame of the U.S.A. THE VOTING AGE SHOULD BE RAISED.

    Re: Anonymous

and you'd rather have another 4yrs of republican policies? obviously YOU need to do your research as the reason America is in a recession is due to all the billions of $$ we've spent on the war. a war that never should have been started in the first place. WMD? where were those again? oh yea, there weren't any but Bush had an agenda to finish cuz his dad got snubbed by Sadam.

and as for your attributing the recession to consumerism - i agree with you that americans are addicted to buying useless shit that just causes more waste and ultimately harms the planet. HOWEVER, clearly you need a lesson in econ as consumers spending money on all that useless shit is the only thing that will pull the economy out of the slump it's currently in. Obama giving these dreaded handouts you speak of will only foster this as people will be able to pay for their basic expenses and in turn have a larger expendible income to buy stuff. Perhaps you should be sure and research some credible sources before you run your mouth about topics you are clearly ignorant about.

Re: sweetpiece – Just like Obama, an eloquent speech but nothing behind it. I, in fact, would appreciate a 50s America however, because of the ACLU and other organizations of the like, our nation is turning into a slum. Individuals like yourself will never be held accountable for the destruction your ill researched opinions will bring upon this continent. For you to criticize a 50s way of life just proves how terrible society really is. Also, I find your descriptions of the crowd very amusing. Perhaps you too should cash your welfare check and buy a new TV. I was there. I saw the crowd. There were many older people there — the people that tried to raise us correctly who no longer garner the respect of people like yourself, obviously — and there were younger people; all of every nationality.

Wait a minute… I can have all of that if I sign up for welfare and squirt out another kid every year."
Healthcare is for those that deserve it. You work hard = you get healthcare. If we gave it away, no one that WORKS for a living would be able to get an appointment. We would all be paying YOUR bills and suffering because of the terrible decisions YOU MADE in your life.

    Re: Tiffy25

do you realize how many other countries have free healthcare and are doing very well economically? countries like the UK who's economy is a hell of a lot stronger than ours right now? and why, WHY would you continually make sacrifices if you didn't have to? Have you lost sight of the fact that our government is supposed to work for us, not the other way around. so of course healthcare should be free! everyone has the basic right to see a doctor when ill and especially in today's turbulent economy, just because you're a hard worker and make sacrifices doesn't necessarily mean you'll have that extra $50 a month for healthcare. clearly you're a nihilist or too right winged to realize that we shouldn't have to work our asses of for the essentials in life - aka healthcare.

however, I do agree that many of the people who read this site are not informed enough nor intelligent enough to become credibly informed to make an educated comment on anything political. I do think that Perez is doing some good by putting political issues on a site like this, perhaps the ignorant of our country will become less so by him doing this.

Re: Padmasana – First of all, we aren't the only ones who live without it and seeing as though we do, it is OUR faults not the government's fault. There are too many people to support in the US. The work ethic is HORRENDOUS here. Why work when you can get it for free? Whether you want to admit it or not, Obama's policies will cause those that WORK to suffer at the hands of the lazy. ALSO, no one is to blame for the MORTGAGE CRISIS but the people who don't have enough in savings to SAVE THEIR ASSES. To blame the government is TYPICAL, TYPICAL of a liberal swine.

Re: chaz – Oh, that was CUTE… You still like to refer to the war "BUSH" started. Typical liberal… You may know LIBERAL economics, but you don't know foreign policy. When you get your doctorate in either REAL economics AND foreign policy, come at me. In the interim, keep playing on this site. It's fun — especially for someone like you. You must have a lot of friends!!!

jtssrx wondered how Obama thought we could be "off Oil in 10 years, and pay for all these programs like National health care without taxing the American people." The truth is, if you want serious change, it almost ALWAYS requires money. If you really want to change the system then you need to be more willing to pay more taxes. If you are pro universal health care, then you need to accept the fact that the only way it will be possible is if your taxes are raised. Yes, it may not be fun to see your paychecks diminished, but it is hypocritical and unproductive to say you want change but are willing to change anything in your own life. If you want change for everyone then you have to be willing to sacrifice something yourself. If you don't want to sacrifice anything then don't complain how it is impossible to create change.

And to those of you that continue to tell Perez to stick to celebrity gossip, if you don't like a post that Perez makes then do not read it, it's as simple as that. I think it is wonderful (no matter how biased Perez may be) that he is at least posting things on politics. So often we see teenagers that are uneducated in politics. And despite the immature party bashing, look how many people have posted on this one post. As I type this there are 183 replies. And almost every single reply contains information on political policies. So even though some of these replies may be immature and irrelevant, the majority have succeeded in exposing uneducated readers to alternative points of view to his/her own. The only way you can vote smart is by being educated on both sides of the issues, and that is what this post succeeds in.

actually im bored and in class right now bt you're right - it is fun. especially because destroying arguments by people like you is like shooting fish in a barrel. i'd also like to comment on how you're rebuttle to my comment did nothing but insult me, and the insults were superficial at that. sounds like you're in need of the education mate

    Re: Anonymous

your argument exemplifies the peripheral route thinking loved so much by republicans like yourself - you didn't actually make a relevant point but instead you spat superficial insults and told me i needed a doctorate "in REAL economics AND foriegn policy" (what are these real economics, by the way) yet you didn't show a shred of evidence to support that you have any clue as to what you're talking about.

ps - it doesnt take a doctorate to understand politics but merely a bit of logic and common sense

  91. 191

I loved all the shots he took at Obama, even though he didn't once say his name. Fred Thompson is awesome! He isn't afraid of saying the things that people want to say but don't. He made some very good points about congress and the senate. So SUCK it. The truth can fuckin' hurt.

  92. 192

Good God can these old guys be any MORE full of b.s.?????????? I am truly embarrassed by these old lying geezer idiots.

  93. 193

Why would anyone laugh, you cocksucker. People should laugh at your mother and father for raising a bigot like yourself. The only reason you are against Republicans, is that they do not believe homos and lesbos, should not have any right, just like GOD feels.
Yes folks I do not like homos and lesbos and probably will go to hell, but not for disliking unatural humans, and I use the word humans in a very lite manner, they are more like anaimals.

I'd have much less of a problem with McCain if he hadn't picked Palen. Also, unlike some peeps, I appreciate Perez's blog's attention to politics. It helps remind me that it matters to give a shit about government, and how the personal is political.

  95. 195

Okay. It wasn't a bad speech, people. It was just empty. There was very little crowd support except on the last two points (taxes and military) and a jab at how Obama's speech was pandering to foreign critics (how about American critics, Fred?). The P.O.W. speech was…maybe…exaggerated? It just sounded so embellished and romanticized. I'm sure he's a great war hero, but the bulk of the speech was to convince us how great McCain's character is, and I think he probably does have good character, but it didn't sound right. The crowd wasn't into it, either. The best Thompson could say about Palin was to joke that she could field dress a moose, so there's that, and then the pan to a chick all "wtf???" to her boyfriend, guess the camera people were liberals because the reaction shots were pretty funny. Loved how they panned to every minority in the crowd, the one black woman there. Thought it was a little sad, actually, how bored and unenthusiastic people seemed. I hope it's indicative of how the vote goes, though. Civil rights are THE most important thing to me, McCain will never get my vote, but you want to see them put up a good fight, and that was pretty weak, even for a good public speaker.

I really tried not to laugh

Re: Anonymous – Hi Anonymous. Let's say anoni for short. Too chicken to put a real name? Well, to inform you, I don't have kids. I'm in my 20's, a nurse, I have a home, am getting married soon, am not in debt. I think I'm a good citizen.
The difference, I'm coming to realize, is that liberals tend to want to help other people, while conservatives could give a flying fuck. I hope YOU someday live in section 5 housing, asshole. No scratch that, I hope you become schizophrenic (can happen as late as your 40's if you're a guy) and live in a cardboard box. People like YOU are the reason our country is fucked up and the world hates us.

  98. 198

Re: Anonymous – One more thing asshole,
"How is you squirting out a couple of kids — a dredge on society — the government's problem or responsibility?"
I just realized, aren't you a pro life conservative? But you view kids as a dredge on society. And that the gov shouldn't care about kids… You're even more of an asshole then I thought you were originally! Let's upgrade you. From now on, you will be hairy nipple.

That old man needs to go home and have his Stupid Bimbo wife (40 yrs younger), change his soiled diapers.

actually, as biased as they are– i like these posts! keep 'em coming!

you guys– lighten up and have a bit of fun with this monkey show! i mean, no doubt the election is serious, but you're not gonna change anyone's mind by ranting or insulting them… so… have a laugh (while you still can…)

it is so interesting to hear what people have to say about all that's going on in politics.

perez, i like you for riling them up! makes my days in the office go by quicker!
