This is going to be a completely different movie than any other of Gus Van Sants. It is getting rave reviews in it's prescreening process and it's going to be amazing! Of course there will be Christians going nuts over it but it's history whether anyone likes it or not and Harvey changes America. It's going to be awesome!

I CAN'T WAIT! I wish they would push up the release date because it's such a hot topic for this election. Emile Hirsch is so cute with his bushy afro and big glasses. Sean Penn is one of our finest filmmakers alive today. Harvey Milk was a real freedom fighter. You may not agree with his politics, but you can't live in America and deny that everyone has the right to equality. I CAN'T WAIT.

Of course they will portray him as a saint and all the conservatives as villains, but it does look interesting, and sean penn and james franco are two of the best actors around.
Great cast, but Van Sant is so hit or miss. For every Good Will Hunting or My Own Private Idaho, there's an Elephant or Last Days. Still, you can't go wrong with Sean Penn.
After writing on a previous post about andyaber and his friends, I said they lacked self-respect, and then I started thinking that this person is to be pitied.
What a horrible childhood he must have had, his parents probably beat him sensless, and most likely there was abuse of other kinds. Someone so pathetic had to have had an horrible life, so I will try my hardest to just not read his comments or to not comment on them myself, I do not want to add to this troubled young mans woes, lest he moves on to something worse. You now have my sympathy instead of my scorn.
I dont think anyone but the gays will go see this movie. It doesnt appeal that much to me, but Im sure the gay community is all up in a tizzy about it. Good for them ♥

Harvey Milk was murdered in his office at City Hall. This movie's previews leaves you with the the impression that this is a feel good story.

I used to attend Harvey Milk High school in nyc, so I am very excited for this movie. He was a great man and his story is very powerful.

This is especially important to remember in light of the anti-gay VP candidate for the Republicans that there once was a time when people were openly homophobic. We need to remember the fights for the hard won battles for partner health care, domestic partnerships and gay marriage and a woman's right to chose could all be lost with a few Supreme Court appointments.
Please make sure you vote with that in mind. Milk was a pioneer, don't mess up the progress people

I am sure you would not want a person to go free because of a lam excuse like that if it happened to someone you respect or cared for. But he did go free only to kill himself later. Maybe you should watch teh movie with an open mind that people ,even if you do not agree with the sexual orientation, should not be treated as trash and with no respect.

I totally would have seen this movie even if I was not in it! I'm beyond excited for it to come out, the filming process was so interesting… and definitely proved that Sean Penn is an incredible actor. We were extras in a couple of major group scenes, a lot shown in the preview, got to see both Sean and James (to which we were staring all googly eyed at James) during the filming. Yay!
I can't wait to see it. They filmed the movie in my neighborhood in SF. Such an inspiring story about an everyday citizen that stood up for change. People like this and people like Martin Luther King , Rosa Parks, etc are people who make me believe in the American Dream of freedom and equality: Human Rights! It's sad to think that certain Politicians are trying to over turn it.
So happy this is being made ..this story needs to be known!!!

As much as we may consider athletes and celebrities as heroic and important figures in our lives, it's the everyday people that show themselves to embody greatness, through their personal courage. Harvey Milk is a icon, a truly great man, and the fact that he never sought greatness is what makes him immortal. See this movie with an open mind - it's not about a political movement, it's about a human being man not afraid to love.
GUS VAN SANT is an amazing filmmaker.

Looks really good! When does it come out? Hopefully it will shed some light for people who don't know about the struggle for gay civil rights. The more people are exposed to and educated about homosexuality, the less likely they will be to fear it. Progress!!

can't wait to see this! I love Sean Penn and Emile Hirsch together..although I disagree with Sean Penn's radical views, he and Emile were great in Into the Wild! Little disappointed to see Emile's one liner in the trailer; it just sounded like Emile being Emile with a silly perm!

Sean Penn, the most overrated actor in hollywood and a legend in his own mind.
Yay! I'm so excited! The times of Harvey Milk is a wonderful documentary on Harvey, but it's such an old film that most people haven't heard of it, so it's wonderful that people will learn of him now! Plus it's got Sean Penn, so it's sure to be wonderfully acted.
