Presidential hopeful John McCain's campaign is strongly calling for an end to all the questions and news surrounding the background of VP nominee Sarah Palin.
Seriously??????
Campaign senior adviser Steve Schmidt wrote in a statement, “This nonsense is over."
The Republicans are crying sexism!
Says the McCain adviser: “This vetting controversy is a faux media scandal designed to destroy the first female Republican nominee for vice president of the United States who has never been a part of the old boys’ network that has come to dominate the news establishment of this country. The McCain campaign will have no further comment about our long and thorough process."
Are McCain's people sure they did adequate research on Palin and her background? And why shouldn't we talk about her, her life, and her career?
Seriously, McCain is OLD. We're not sure he'll last two, full terms. Maybe not even one.
So, if this lady might potentially be the first female President if McCain dies while in term, then we should know all we can about her.
We also have a feeling that if the same thing were occurring on the Democrat's side, they'd be plastering it all over the news.
Unfortunately for Palin, it turns out this little-known, first-term governor had a lot to be made public. And here are some of the juicy items that have been released, aside from the news of her teenaged daughter's pregnancy:
- A private attorney is authorized to spend $95,000 of state money to defend her against accusations of abuse of power.
- Palin sought pork-barrel projects for her city and state, contrary to her reformist image.
- Her husband once belonged to a fringe political group in Alaska, with some members supporting secession from the United States.
- She has acknowledged smoking marijuana in the past.
A senior McCain adviser, Tucker Eskew, tries to clean up Palin's image by saying that tonight “She will speak as a governor, a former mayor and someone with both hands on the steering wheel of America’s energy economy. She will detail her record of shaking up the status quo in Alaska and standing up to entrenched interests to put the government back on the side of the people.”

I think some of McCain's responses and requests are absolutely ridiculous, but I also think people need to get off Palin's back. She's not a bad mother. Teen pregnancy isn't the best choice, but accidents happen. The Palin's seem to be handling the situation with grace and dignity. They are certainly doing what's best for their family.

Whether your a celebrity or a politician, your reputation is at stake once everyone knows who you are. If I make a sex tape, no one is going to give a shit, but god forbid some filthy rich celeb does it, everyone would be all over that. People shouldn't complain about their life being in a tabloid if they choose to put it out there to begin with. She could have declined, it's not mandatory to accept.
So to all you people saying we should separate work and private life…NEWS FLASH; people who are exposed to the media DON'T have a private life, everything is public. If you don't like gossip wtf are you doing here? You cant to talk politics? Go to CNN or a political forum, not a gossip site.

It appears from some of the attacks that I have read here and on other liberal sites, Sara Palin has a lot of Dems worried. Instead of attacking Palin about her children, perhaps you Obama supporters should look a little closer at your party choices. Biden is a joke and plagiarist. I;m kind of surprised that she brought up the rights of prisoners in Hanoi, but dogged out the rights of prisoners in Gitmo. It's sort of the same situation, just another side of the coin.
